Unbiblical "Noah" is No Crowd Pleaser

The much talked about, biblically questionable big-screen release "Noah" finished its debut weekend with a better than expected $44 million in box-office take. But when it comes to the movie's long-term success, there are some dark clouds lurking on the horizon.

CinemaScore is a highly regarded market research firm that polls film audiences and rates their viewing experiences with letter grades. The firm reports its results and forecasts box-office receipts based on data collected. CinemaScore's representatives routinely survey opening day audiences in twenty-five of the largest movie markets in North America to determine a grade ranging from A+ to F for the respective film. Most movies receive a minimum of "B+" as a CinemeScore grade, with anything less being cause for concern for the studio and filmmakers involved.

The controversial "Noah," which was delivered to the screen by Paramount and director Darren Aronofsky, received a dismal CinemaScore of "C" from moviegoers. [more...]

Two Modern False Gods: The United Nations and the Olympics

False god #1, the U.N. - The United Nations General Assembly and Security Council are seemingly the world's guarantors of peace and harmony... that is until they are actually needed to maintain peace and harmony. Consider that in our own back yard, Venezuela is becoming a staunch ally of Communist Cuba. Nuclear armed North Korea is led by a veritable adolescent who menacingly test-fires rockets into the sea and literally feeds his political enemies alive to hungry dogs. China grows more militant and brazen and it is now muscling and terrorizing its smaller neighbors. The so-called Arab Spring led to many deaths but little personal freedom and the bloodbath in Syria continues. To top it all off, Russia is now in the Crimean Peninsula. Has anyone seen the United Nations? Has it made one iota of difference in any of these ominous developments?

False god #2, the Olympics - The high-sounding talk of how the Olympics fosters world brotherhood is every bit as convincing as the rhetoric on behalf of the U.N. ...but is it true? [more...]

OSHA Opens New Door for Big Labor

Last week, OSHA joined the ranks of the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB), the Department of Labor (DOL), and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) in furthering the Obama Administration’s push to implement "card check" as pay back for Big Labor's political contributions and ground game support during the past two Presidential Elections. OSHA’s latest published “Interpretation Letter,” permitting non-union employees to utilize union reps as their representatives during an OSHA inspection is absolutely frightening. Just as frightening is that this interpretation has not been widely reported by the mainstream media. Watch this: Union representatives inspecting non-union businesses?  [more...]

The Fifth Milestone of Life: Retirement

For those who feel that they are a long way away from retirement, take a tip from me: retirement comes at you very fast. Time really does pass quickly. Every Boy Scout learns to "be prepared."  Unfortunately, procrastination can be VERY costly. For example, if you put in $5,500 a year, which is the current maximum contribution to an IRA, for thirty years, you will have, depending on earnings assumptions, about $1,000,000 in your retirement fund. However, if you do this for an extra ten years, this $1,000,000 at retirement rises to almost $3,000,000. Ten more years of contributions triples your retirement nest egg. Also, if you invest in a ROTH IRA, you don't pay tax on the fund at retirement, which in my opinion is the better choice. [more...]

When Does Life Have Value?

Mainstream media is suppressing stories of butchers like Philadelphia abortionist Dr. Gosnell who specialized in post-birth abortions. Mainstream media gave it very little attention at first and not very much after it broke elsewhere. There are doctors across the country doing these kinds of abortions, yet there is no real outrage. Here’s the rub. Men who force an abortion on their pregnant girlfriends were found guilty of murder or manslaughter and are spending time in jail. How does that make sense? [more...]

Exclusive: Fourth-graders Get PETA Propaganda Disguised as Common Core

The mandated increase in "informational texts" called for in the Common Core national standards has opened up a word of possibilities for classroom activists who wish to present politically radical ideas to their students. Fourth graders in New York’s Lakeland Central School District – and their parents – found that out when Jessica Fiorillo’s son brought home a reading that turned out to be taken directly from the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals’ (PETA) Web site... word for word. In the Case of Belle Knox

It is not my intention to be perceived as a moral compass in any way. I do, however, disagree with a young lady's decision (as in the case of Belle Knox) to pay her tuition using the money earned by selling her body. Entrepreneurship, the ultimate money-maker, is the best provider of an income that supports a $60,000 tuition.  The reason I recommend this capitalistic pursuit is because of the sense of pride and accomplishment it creates in individuals, unlike pornography which stews degradation and low self-esteem. What's most concerning is Knox's delusion that she'll actually be taken seriously as a lawyer and women's advocate with her present work history. I happen to share my name with an adult film star and the thought of possibly being associated with that woman forced me to add a differentiating factor to my title.  As much as I disagree with her stance, I wish Belle Knox true emotional healing on her long journey to self-discovery. Noah Movie Director Disses Potential Audience

Paramount Pictures is not scheduled to release "Noah" until March 28, but the big-screen retelling of the biblical text is already fraught with controversy.

As an epic movie, "Noah" would have been viewed as having several built-in marketing advantages, the thinking being that any given studio might easily market to faith-oriented moviegoers while simultaneously attempting to attract fans from the general contemporary film audience. The public routinely flocks to action movies and to films with disaster themes, and the Noah narrative inherently possesses both of these story dynamics.

However, the scriptural account of Noah encompasses only about 2,500 words, which may not be enough material to work with by cinematic standards. A screenwriter adapting the biblical passages for a full-length movie would be required to use literary imagination in order to fashion a larger plot for a feature-length project. [more...]

Russia's Successful "Run" on America's Central Bank

Tremors from the earthshaking Russian-U.S. confrontation over Crimea are now revealing just how vulnerable our banking system and economy are to collapse... and how this far-away crisis has greatly increased the threat to ordinary savers in the United States and worldwide.

While President Obama was threatening to seize Russia's assets in the U.S., Russian President Vladimir Putin, in the past few days, apparently successfully withdrew $105.1 billion in U.S. treasury notes that Russia had deposited with the U.S. Federal Reserve. This may be the biggest 'bank run' ever on America's Central Bank, and it signals that many more bank runs are soon to come. Russia has taken these treasury notes – the bulk of its U.S. holdings – out of the country, and beyond President Obama's power to seize or freeze them as a bargaining chip with Russia. [more...]

Can LeBron James and J.Lo's Mom Save Obamacare?

It's fourth down with ninety-nine yards to go in the fourth quarter for President Obama and his signature healthcare scheme. For the President, it's time to bring out all of the tricks. There are only two weeks before the end of the enrollment period for Obamacare. That's why he has just thrown a Hail Mary pass to boost the number of young people enrolled in Obamacare. He brought in his celebrity athlete buddies like LeBron James and Magic Johnson, but in an even more desperate move, he's enlisted Jennifer Lopez's mother to sell Obamacare to young people. Now I'm sure that there are a lot of things that young people would buy from J.Lo, but I don't think that Obamacare is one of them. Young people have not been hoodwinked into Obamacare as the administration had anticipated. [more...]

When is the Truth a Lie?

When Harry Reid says so? No, really!  We've heard some of these over and over again. They say it like it's a fact, but it isn't: "You can keep your doctor," "Families will save about $2,400.00 a year," illegal aliens (non-documented immigrants brought to the U.S. against their will) will not be given free health care, "It won't add one dime to the national deficit," "For the price of your cell phone bill a young person will be able to get health care," and, lastly, none of the so-called "loss of insurance" was due to Obamacare. They are all lies. [Some of the lesser-known and rarely remembered lies...]

Putin Throws Down the Gauntlet and Obama Shrinks Away

Russian President Vladimir Putin minced no words when on March 18th he signed a treaty with Crimea to signify the absorption of that territory into Russia. Defending the referendum held Sunday in Crimea in which those voting approved the absorption overwhelmingly, Putin declared in a televised address in front of both houses of the Russian parliament and Crimea's purported leaders: "In the hearts and minds of people, Crimea has always been and remains an inseparable part of Russia." Vindicated for Removing Saddam

President Bush's top political advisor, Karl Rove, said on July 15 that his biggest mistake was not fighting back against Democrats trying to score cheap political points by accusing the President of lying to get the country to support an invasion of Iraq. Rove is right, but another mistake was made: not trying to vindicate the removal of Saddam Hussein using evidence, including Iraqi government documents, that was obtained after the regime's overthrow. Compelling evidence exists to show that Saddam's regime was sponsoring terrorists (e.g., Al-Qaeda), had the ability to quickly produce weapons of mass destruction, and the will to use both against its enemies. Malaysia Airlines & the Business of the Mystery Missing Plane

As of the present day and for the past few years, Malaysia Airlines has endured scrutiny for their business restructurings and losses. But now the airline is experiencing global condemnation of far worse proportions after the disappearance of Flight 370 on March 8 with 239 passengers aboard. Amongst the general Asian public, Malaysia Airlines has developed a reputation for high-standard service and safety procedures from the time it was founded in 1937, seizing a collection of awards for its overall outstanding customer service. However, the accolades in the past have not been sufficient enough to halt the pause of travelers of the airline in reaction to an incident of such proportion. Shares of Malaysia Airlines dropped as much as 20 percent on March 10. The share price has been on a downward spiral for the past ten years. Before the travesty of the missing plane, Malaysia Airlines management tried four major restructurings in the past 12 years to no avail. The monetary afflictions are a mixture of mismanagement, government intrusion and a scarcity of professionals to run the airline proficiently. [more...]

Russia Steamrolls Over the United Nations

In the phony Crimean referendum held on Sunday March 16th, 95.5% of voters in Crimea have supported joining Russia, Russian officials say. The vote was boycotted by many Crimeans loyal to the Ukraine central government in Kiev, including Tartars who make up about 12% of the Crimean population. Sergei Aksyonov, Crimea's leader installed last month after the Russians effectively occupied Crimea, announced that his government will formally apply on Monday to join the Russian Federation. Shortly after the polls closed, the Obama administration issued a statement rejecting the referendum. Missing Plane Pilot Supporter of MB-Linked Politician

The most popular theory now about the hijacking of Malaysian Airlines Flight 370 is that it is retaliation by one of the pilots for the imprisonment of an opposition leader linked to the Muslim Brotherhood. There is increasing suspicion that he landed or sought to land the aircraft. This theory is certainly plausible, but there are multiple reasons for skepticism. The most likely scenario is that whoever controlled the flight sought to strike a target. It is most probable that at least two operatives were involved because someone would need to handle the flight controls while the second pilot was neutralized. [more...] Watch Ryan on Fox & Friends

It's All About the Dues Money

I have repeatedly stressed the fact that today's big labor bosses care little about the rank and file membership and are only interested in the dues money they can collect to line their own pockets and use for political persuasion. This has surfaced more the past several weeks and is worth highlighting as we approach the 2014 Mid-Term Elections. [more...]

Obama Hasn't Changed Since Columbia University

Thirty years ago Obama, my Columbia University Class of '83 classmate, was rarely seen. Thirty years later he can't be bothered to attend national security meetings about a crisis that could lead to World War III. Some things never change. You might ask, "What do Obama's college days have to do with his Presidency today?" The answer is everything. By college, a person's personality, attitude and behavior is usually fairly well set. That's why Obama's Columbia days tell us so much about his behavior as President today.  Barack Obama is exactly the same today as he was as a student at Columbia thirty years ago: arrogant and egotistical. He's either too lazy, or thinks he's too smart to have to actually do the work expected of him. Nothing has changed in 30 years. [more...]
