The Left is outraged again (SURPRISE!) at President Trump. This time for pardoning Sheriff Joe Arpaio. Do I agree with the pardon? No. In my opinion, Trump should have waited for the appeal because I believe Arpaio would have been found innocent, but so be it. President Trump, like every other President, had the right to pardon or commute the sentence of whomever he wants. The ONLY time he can’t is if it is an impeachable offense. Otherwise, even if the offense is corruption, the pardon stands. President Trump is standing up for law enforcement as he said he would during his campaign by granting Sheriff Joe a pardon. Sweden Prepares to Deport Christian Convert to Iran, Hungary Offers Asylum

Hungary has offered asylum to Christian convert Aideen Strandsson because the Swedish government plans to deport her to Iran where she could face prison or even the death penalty for apostasy. Even worse, Strandsson states that she was told by Swedish authorities that “it’s not our problem if you decided to become a Christian.” It is ironic that Sweden has a reputation as “the world’s humanitarian conscience and a safe haven for refugees” in the face of its rejection and mockery of Strandsson. The Economic Aftereffects of Hurricane Harvey

I own a graphics design company in Houston, and know firsthand that Harvey has affected all my employees one way or another, and this holds true for everyone in the surrounding area in Houston. But it is not just Texas that has been affected by Harvey. Across the U.S., people will start to feel the effects of Harvey. Houston is a major hub for oil refinery in the Gulf coast. At least 10 refineries have already been shut down. This means that there will be less gas to meet the demand of Americans, pushing gas prices up. With 22% of oil produced in the Gulf being shut down, we will most likely see a spike of 20 to 80 cents in gas prices in the coming weeks. This comes from the top U.S. trade official Robert Lighthizer, who believes that these issues have enough merit for an investigation. Trump Taken Hostage by Deep State

Last night’s Afghanistan speech by President Trump was the forced utterance of a hostage on his captor’s video.  Trump should really have held up a newspaper to establish the date of the transmission, like any obedient hostage does.

The speech was the second act of self-abnegation and humiliation the president has had to endure at the hands of his deep state captors.  On July 17th, the president — with his arm twisted behind his back — signed a certification to Congress (required every 90 days) that Iran was fully complying with the nuclear deal.

Trump admitted last night that he hadn’t wanted to increase our Afghan involvement and news reports surrounding the Iran certification indicate that he didn’t like doing that one.  In both cases, the “wiser” counsels of his deep state advisers — led by General H.R. McMaster — prevailed over the president’s previously held views.

In the campaign, Trump called Afghanistan a waste of troops and money.  He described the Iran deal as “the worst deal ever.”

But now Trump is under new management.  Mike Flynn is gone. Steve Bannon is history.  Reince Priebus is the answer to a trivia question.  Sean Spicer is out. The good guys have fled and the Deep State — and their army of “rogue spooks” — are back in charge. (“Rouge Spooks” is a reference to our new book: Rogue Spooks: The Intelligence War on Donald Trump).

Here was the deal Trump’s captors offered:  Change the subject from Charlottesville.  Look presidential. Get network approval to go on primetime TV (usually withheld for anything but a war).  Give a mushy statement saying you’ll reveal later the number of new troops and your “plan” for using them.  Look presidential.  Get good press coverage.

Or... continue to get pounded in the media over the Confederate statues and, on Afghanistan, read about how you are ignoring the military and sowing chaos in the Pentagon.

Trump caved in.  Just as he did when the Deep State got him to fire Bannon.

Will he now proceed to cave in across the board? 

Will he trade real Obamacare repeal for media praise by pushing a bipartisan solution that leaves it in place, possibly even stronger?

Will he bathe in media accolades for a moderate reform of NAFTA that really accomplishes nothing?

Is a minor, tepid tax cut — passed by Democrats and RINOS — in the offing?

Will he triangulate at the expense of substance to relieve the pounding he is taking in the media?

Federal Appointee to Race Relations Board Under Scrutiny for Writings on Islam

A board member with the Canadian Race Relations Foundation, an arms-length federal government agency with a mandate to combat racial discrimination, is in jeopardy of losing her post over her writings on the controversial website Jihad Watch. Christine Douglass-Williams has been writing for the site almost since she was appointed to the foundation’s board in 2012. But multiple sources have told The Canadian Press that the government is reviewing that appointment in the wake of an essay that appeared on the site in May. The post was based on a visit Douglass-Williams paid to the country alongside Jihad Watch founder and U.S. academic Robert Spencer earlier this year. In it, Douglass-Williams warns that Icelanders are being duped by seemingly moderate Muslims who deceive people into believing they are harmless, and writes that if Muslims truly had nothing to hide, they’d allow police to conduct surveillance in their mosques.
