The Pittsburgh Shootings Highlight National Challenges

By Rabbi D.B. Ganz

The synagogue shootings in Pittsburgh highlights two deadly-serious national challenges. The first is specific and the second is general. The first difficulty is just staggering. If the Pittsburgh shootings and others like it in the recent past can happen, every public place in America is a potential target. Posting armed guards all over would turn the country into an armed camp. And it still wouldn't provide absolute safety, for every place people go cannot be guarded at all times. So, what should be done? The second more general problem is even more troubling.

When I grew up in the 1950s, I don't recall that there was ever even one mass shooting. But not only didn't it occur, no one would have imagined that anything like that could ever happen in the USA. Similarly, no one would have dreamt that airplane passengers would have to first pass through metal detectors, that big city public schools would need armed police guards at all times to keep things safe, that edibles sold in bottles would require a seal under the cap to prevent people from inserting poisons - and so on. How did our society become so dangerous? Is Western Civilization beating a path toward savagery?

If we can fix the second problem, it will mostly resolve the first one as well. But if the second one endures, there is probably scant hope for solving the first one.

Brave. Brilliant. Blexit.
By Karen Kataline

There has been a profound need to tell the truth to the black community about how they’ve been used and exploited for votes. In return, they got slums, ghettos, crime and poverty. It’s tough to find a way to tell someone they’ve been duped. But we’ve also seen how easy it is for people to change on a dime when there’s a powerful cultural phenomenon. I have more than a hunch that Blexit could be that phenomenon. It won’t be easy. The demonization has already begun.  The left thinks of their victim groups as mascots and they don’t like it when their pets escape. Maybe after Blexit, we can finally have a Jexit (Jews’ exit from liberalism.) Look for the Left to once again lose their minds. This ought to be fun. [more...]

The Ugly Truth About The Simpsons' Controversial Indian Character's Exit
By Christian Toto

Earlier this year Groening appeared defiant in the face of a documentary slamming Apu, the show’s Indian character, as a hurtful stereotype. His iconic series addressed the matter in an episode where Marge and Lisa discussed a similar subject. That was in April, a lifetime ago in social justice time. Now, it appears Apu is heading for the exit, stage far left. Seeing a show like the “The Simpsons” buckle to the PC Police, do they privately think the controversy is overblown? Are they sad to see Hank Azaria, the voice of Apu, out of a gig? Have they considered the chilling effect on free speech ApuGate delivers? [more...]

Megyn Kelly's Legal Battle Ensnares NBC News Chair Andy Lack
By James Hirsen

It looks like Megyn Kelly is playing hardball with the Peacock network. Her television show “Megyn Kelly Today” was summarily canceled a short two days after a controversial episode of the show aired on NBC. The episode in question contained an anecdote told by Kelly, which many found offensive and consequently set the social media ablaze. Possibly believing that she could make things right, at the opening of the subsequent show Kelly offered an emotional apology and received a standing ovation from the in-studio audience. In addition to the public apology, she sent a contrite letter to her colleagues. The apology and letter were essentially ignored by NBC News brass. NBC News Chairman Andy Lack slammed Kelly’s on-air comments during a town hall event that he held for news division staff. [more...]

The Antidote for October Surprises
By Lowell Ponte

One of the highest art forms in our democratic politics has been the “October Surprise,” a news bomb designed to explode so close to Election Day that an opponent – having too little time to answer it – is destroyed by this last-minute surprise attack. with only days to go before the November election, an honest voter should assume that any new “October Surprise” is false. If such an attack were valid, then why was it sprung at the last minute, too late to be evaluated or scrutinized? Second, if the other side uses such a sneak attack to win, what does this tell us about their integrity – and their contempt for our intelligence and sense of fairness? Before Election Day, we may see several October Surprises used to smear Republican candidates - or to motivate Democratic, intimidate GOP, or alienate independent voters. Consider three recent surprises… [more...]

Tolerance for Anti-Semitism Must End
By Brigitte Gabriel

Too often, hatred against Jews is disregarded as an almost archaic form of racism. The horrific massacre shooting at Pittsburgh’s Tree of Life Synagogue is a tragic reminder that anti-Semitism is alive and well in the United States. The same hatred which led Hitler to commit unthinkable genocide against innocent Jews still persists throughout the world and, tragically, here in the United States. Remarkably, despite being most of the hate crimes, anti-Semitism seems to be one of the only forms of hatred and bigotry that is still tolerated by the mainstream media. It’s almost as if this hatred is seen as an ancient myth and in the most egregious circumstances, the mainstream press is actually propagating it. The civilized world must band together in solidarity to ensure that people of all faiths can live in peace and harmony and that Jews are never persecuted and victimized by barbaric, murderous ideologies ever again. To allow anti-Semitism to continue to exist unchecked in the 21st century destroys a piece of everyone’s humanity. There is simply no room for such hatred in the world. [more...]

94,000 Public Employees & Retirees Cost Taxpayers $12B
By Adam Andrzejewski, Author of “Operation Drain the Swamp”

Let us introduce you to the Illinois $100,000 Club that cost taxpayers $12 billion. It's comprised of 93,798 public employees and retirees who earned a new “minimum wage” of $100,000 or more. While Illinois is broke, and it continues to flirt with junk bond status, the public employee class is living the good life. Our auditors found three doctors at the University of Illinois at Chicago with incomes between $1 million and $1.6 million; 633 educators out-earned every governor of the 50 states ($190,000 to $407,000); and 130 small town or government administrators made between $190,000 and $324,000. Tolerance for Anti-Semitism Must End

Too often, hatred against Jews is disregarded as an almost archaic form of racism. The horrific massacre shooting at Pittsburgh’s Tree of Life Synagogue is a tragic reminder that anti-Semitism is alive and well in the United States.

As someone whose life was touched by the nation of Israel, the Tree of Life shooting, which cut eleven innocent lives short, tears at my heart. As a little girl growing up in Southern Lebanon, I was often taught that we would only have peace in the Middle East when all the Jews were killed and driven into the sea. I’ll never forget what I learned when I visited an Israeli hospital as a young girl, worried sick over injuries sustained by my mother when a mortar shell launched by Islamic terrorists hit our bomb shelter. As I looked around the hospital, I witnessed Jewish doctors actually treating terrorists that probably would’ve cut their throats had they not needed their help. The Israeli physicians and nurses treated everyone according to their injuries, not their religion. Had my mother been a Jew in an Arab hospital, she would’ve been thrown out to die, rather than saved. It was in this moment that I realized how appalling anti-Semitism can be. Right then and there, I realized that to hate anyone for their religious beliefs or their origin of birth is truly barbaric.

The same hatred which led Hitler to commit unthinkable genocide against innocent Jews still persists throughout the world and, tragically, here in the United States. Remarkably, despite being responsible for the most hate crimes, anti-Semitism seems to be one of the only forms of hatred and bigotry that is still tolerated by the mainstream media. It’s almost as if this hatred is seen as an ancient myth and in the most egregious circumstances, the mainstream press is actually propagating it.

Whether it’s CNN pundits repeating Hamas talking points when covering the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, or Nation of Islam’s favorite politician Keith Ellison getting a free pass on his anti-Semitism, or even anti-Semites like Linda Sarsour being held up as a virtuous symbol of diversity, the mainstream media simply does not view Jews as victims the way they do other groups.

Not surprisingly, soon after the deadliest anti-Semitic shooting in American history, the media blames, you guessed it, President Trump - arguably the most pro-Israel President in American history, who moved the U.S Embassy to Jerusalem despite media backlash, who also happens to have Jewish grandchildren born to a Jewish son-in-law working in his administration. Just when you think the media can’t go any lower both morally and intellectually, they manage to top themselves.

Not only is President Trump the most pro-Israel President in history, but the evil shooter who committed the massacre was vehemently anti-trump. In fact, the shooter once tweeted, “There is no #MAGA, as long as there is a k*** infestation.” An anti-Semitic shooter would only harbor such hatred toward President Trump because in addition to his heroic embassy move, President Trump cut off aid to terrorists of the Palestinian Authority, and has fought to dismantle the Obama administration’s Israeli death sentence - the disastrous Iran deal. Unlike our former "apologist-in-Chief," President Trump never hosted Islamic front groups at his doorstep, or referred to anti-Semitic attacks as “random” like Obama did.

President Trump never appeared onstage with Louis Farrakhan like Bill Clinton recently did, nor did he have an anti-Semite with terrorist ties like Linda Sarsour introduce him at a rally like Senator Kirsten Gillibrand recently did. Why? Because this President doesn’t aid and abet anti-Semitism the way the Democrat party does. Anti-Semitism shouldn’t have to be a right or left issue; it should be a human issue.

Unfortunately, even things such as this have become politicized.

Former NYPD Available for Interviews on Bomb Suspect Arrest

Federal authorities made an arrest on Friday in connection with the nationwide bombing campaign against outspoken critics of President Trump, a significant breakthrough in a case that has gripped the country in the days leading up to the midterm elections. A law enforcement official identified the suspect as Cesar Sayoc, Jr., 56, of Aventura, Fla, just north of Miami.

As a former Detective with the NYPD, Thomas Ruskin is available to discuss the arrest of Cesar Sayoc today for the recent bomb terrorist attack. He can discuss the investigation, the evidence and how the NYPD, JTTF and the FBI found him.

Thomas Ruskin is a highly decorated former New York City Police Detective Investigator. He was responsible for Crisis Management for the Mayor, Police Commissioner and Deputy Commissioners of Operations and Crime Control Strategies for New York City. He has been involved in cases that have received worldwide attention, including the 1993 terrorist attack on the World Trade Center, the NYC subway system bombing, airline crashes, police shootings, hostage situations and major organized crime and narcotic cases.

The Real Roots of Campus Leftism
By Professor Warren Treadgold

The kind of leftism that began on campuses has now spread to the whole country, mostly through Democratic Party politics. This leftist doctrine, among other things, maintains that unsubstantiated or even obviously false charges are justified as long as they serve the interests of the supposedly oppressed and fight the supposed oppressors. I described it two years ago in my cover article, "The Roots of Campus Leftism," for The Weekly Standard. I think they need help from legislators and donors outside campuses, and I suggest in my book, The University We Need, the sort of legislation that might help, along with what I think would help most, the founding of a new university that rejects this leftist dogma and shows what a university should be. Caravan Jihad?
By Robert Spencer

Sarah Sanders, the White House press secretary, told reporters on Monday afternoon that Trump ‘absolutely’ had evidence to indicate there are Middle Easterners in the caravan. CNN informed the Leftist marks who still take it seriously that Trump is, as expected, all wrong and going off half-cocked yet again: “The President did not support his claim with any evidence." The evidence is actually abundantly clear; CNN just doesn’t want you to know it exists. The Daily Caller reported Monday that Univision correspondent Francisco Santa Anna stated: “Yesterday when we were traveling through Guatemala, we noticed people from El Salvador and even people from Bangladesh. Can you imagine what they had to do to get here? They infiltrated themselves in this caravan and tried to cross with the crowd. That would have benefited them greatly.” [more...]

Khashoggimania and Our Islamist Colluding Media
By Daniel Greenfield

While Jamal Khashoggi has often been misidentified as a Washington Post journalist, all he did for the radical leftist paper owned by Amazon’s CEO is write editorials promoting the Muslim Brotherhood agenda. The Muslim Brotherhood leader and former Bin Laden pal was never a journalist. The closest he came to it was acting as a terrorist propagandist in Afghanistan, glamorizing Osama bin Laden, on behalf of a man listed by the Treasury Department as one of “the world’s foremost terrorist financiers.” [more...]

Antifa Targets Horowitz Speech at Dartmouth

A student socialist group reached out to a local Antifa chapter indicating that they planned to target David Horowitz's event at Dartmouth College last night.  Horowitz’s talk, “Identity Politics and the Totalitarian Threat from the Left,” drew protests inside and outside the event along with several police and campus security officers. From the start of the event, which was organized by the College Republicans, student protesters expressed their displeasure with Horowitz. Some worked on their laptops with headphones, symbolically blocking out his words. Shortly into the talk, students sporadically stood up and displayed signs featuring messages opposing Horowitz’s views, such as “Trans Rights are Human Rights,” “ICE is the Gestapo,” “Black Lives Matter” and “From Palestine to Mexico, all the walls have got to go.” After the event, protesters hung signs outside the room including one that read, “We believe Dr. Blasey Ford” and another that quoted Martin Luther King Jr., saying, “A threat to justice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.”

Trump Should Tackle Our Overvalued Dollar
By Michael Stumo

President Trump's decision to impose tariffs on subsidized imports from China has generated plenty of criticism from pundits and academics alike. But the tariffs, which are intended to boost U.S. manufacturing competitiveness, are already leading to increased production and job growth in the heartland. There's a looming trouble spot, however, because the U.S. dollar is significantly overvalued - and rising - in global markets. And that could end up negating some of the tariffs’ effectiveness. Here’s the problem: each day, global investors purchase massive amounts of U.S. securities and financial assets. This incoming capital benefits the financial industry but creates few jobs for everyday Americans. Worse, it has the unfortunate side effect of driving up the dollar’s value in global markets. The Real Roots of Campus Leftism

In a recent FoxNews op-ed, Charlie Kirk says American universities are now 'mob' assembly lines. Kirk is absolutely right that the kind of leftism that began on campuses has now spread to the whole country, mostly through Democratic Party politics.

But Kirk, in his article (and, as far as I can tell from the book he wrote with Donald Trump, Jr.) seems to have only one strategy for combating campus leftism, and that is to encourage isolated and marginalized conservative and moderate students to be more vocal.  This may make them feel a little better, but they aren't at all likely to be able to outshout the leftists, and they should be prepared to be vilified by their fellow students and professors, given poor grades, and possibly even disciplined by their administrators.

That's why I think they need help from legislators and donors outside campuses, and I suggest in my book, The University We Need, the sort of legislation that might help, along with what I think would help most, the founding of a new university that rejects this leftist dogma and shows what a university should be.

Pelosi Goes Low for High Political Gain
By James Hirsen

Nancy Pelosi recently delivered the following message to a group of like-minded people in New York City: “I think that we owe the American people to be there for them, for their financial security, respecting the dignity and worth of every person in our country, and if there’s some collateral damage for some others who do not share our view, well, so be it…” Whether she intended to provide such a window into her political soul is unknown. However, it was a profoundly significant revelation from the woman who is desperately seeking to be Speaker of the House once again. What Pelosi did in her unwitting confession is to telegraph just how low the Democrats were willing to stoop in their craven quest for power, so low that people who merely disagree with their socialist agenda may, as her characterization indicated, become expendable. Feminists' Selective Outrage - Petty vs. Profound
By Karen Kataline

What can you say about pampered celebrities and liberals who take themselves and their political correctness so seriously? Compare their stories to Nadia Murad, a Yazidi human rights activist from Iraq and the author of the book “The Last Girl: My Story of Captivity, and My Fight Against the Islamic State” who was awarded the 2018 Nobel Peace Prize. At just 21 years old, Murad was kidnapped alongside an estimated 3,000 other Yazidi women and girls, traded as sex slaves from one ISIS fighter to another. She was forced to pray, dress up, and apply makeup in preparation for her rape, which was often committed by gangs. While Hollywood liberals lament their selective outrage, they are frighteningly silent about real-life atrocities that have been courageously survived by young women like Nadia Murad. [more...]

President Trump's War on Waste
By Adam Andrzejewski, Author of “Operation Drain the Swamp”

"We're going to cut spending, absolutely. It's not as tough as you think, there's a lot of fat in there," says President Trump. Last week, at the White House, the president pledged to cut spending and asked his agency heads to cut five percent of their budgets. Trump's action comes just 24 days after we published an open letter to the president in The Wall Street Journal and USA Today. In the letter, we urged President Trump to wage a war on waste using a three-pronged attack: 1. Post all White House expenditures online; 2. Cut agency waste (five percent of their budgets); 3. Report progress to the public. It looks like the president is following our plan. [more...]

The Framers Feared the Mob
By Lowell Ponte

Today’s uncivil Democrats show why the Framers of our Constitution feared the mob. As individuals, most of us are fair and practical; but in emotional groups, people can sometimes easily become a terrorist mob. We have a herd inside our heads, a mass mind evident in the socialist rallies of 1930s Germany or today’s Democrat socialist street gangs. Unchecked, democracy can quickly turn to French Revolutionary violence. This is why our Framers created institutions to protect our republic from “mobocracy.” Delusional zealot Hillary Clinton still says she should be president because she “won the popular vote” in 2016 – which is like saying she scored more “runs” even though she and winner Donald Trump had agreed that they were playing football, where scoring is via touchdowns and field goals, not “runs.” But even here, Democrats and other leftists are plotting to circumvent the Constitution and steal future elections. Midterm Election Predictions
By John LeBoutillier

With two weeks to go before the midterm elections, here are some predictions. It seems likely that the Democrats will win back control of the House - probably by 25 to 35 seats. Despite what the pundits are saying, the Senate is not out of reach, either. The post-Kavanaugh GOP sugar high is wearing off, which is why Trump has pivoted to trying to scare his base with comments about the “caravan” of migrants making its way to the southern U.S. border. It still might come down to Arizona and Nevada. If the Democrats win both, along with Tennessee, they conceivably could take over the Senate. [more...]
