Hollywood Elitists and "American Sniper"

"American Sniper" is breaking box office records. Most who have seen the movie have great things to say about it... except for a few Hollywood elitists. The realities of war and what these guys go through comes through loud and clear. The same groups of people who have no problem making movies glorifying hit men, prostitutes, mafia, and "shoot-'em-up bang-bang" movies seem to have a big problem with the film. It just shows you how full of themselves they really are. [more...] Check out Joe on his new national show.

It's All About Oil

We hear about weapons of mass destruction, terrorist strongholds, Sharia Law and regime changes, but the truth was stated in 1975 and hasn't changed to this day - it's all about oil. The rulers will try, try and try again, regardless of the expense in money and human life or questionable alliances with Saudi Arabia/Al-Qaeda, till Middle Eastern oil is ours. As persistent as the military oil-mongers continue to be, so too are the central bankers.  If millions and billions of shadow fiat is not enough to make a success of the Keynesian philosophy, then most assuredly trillions and quadrillions will do the trick. Unfortunately, the divide between the 1% and the 99% continues to be greater and greater.  Japan, Europe, China and the United States will all travel the Keynesian road and need more and more sacrifice by their people to keep the ruling elite in champagne and caviar. Deflate-Gate - Who Would Have Thought?

It is curious to think that during one of the most hectic times of year, when business people are executing their dutifully designed strategies for the New Year, American footballers are preparing for their ultimate game. However, ‘Deflate Gate’ is the new scandal that has embroiled the NFL's most successful franchise over the past 15 years. It has been alleged that a member of the New England Patriots disappeared into an unforeseen location with the game balls that were to be used that day. With the investigation still ongoing and the details still unfolding, the Patriot’s leadership is extremely defensive, irritated, and vocal. [more...]

Why Romney is thinking about 2016

One of the questions dominating the political class lately is: Why is Mitt Romney even thinking of running yet again in 2016? The answers are really quite simple: All losing candidates continuously chafe over their loss. They re-run their campaign endlessly as they toss and turn through dozens of sleepless nights. They realize all the mistakes they made and they wish they could erase or correct those mistakes. [more...]

The 70th Anniversary of the Liberation of Auschwitz

Tuesday the world celebrated the 70th anniversary of the liberation of the infamous Auschwitz concentration camp established by the Germans during World War II. Approximately three hundred Jewish survivors of the camp attended the anniversary ceremonies at Auschwitz. I was one of the lucky ones - the Gestapo released me a day or so before I was transported. They had a devious plan in mind. After release, they had me followed, hoping I would lead them to my commander, which I never did. The following year, I fought in the 1944 Warsaw Uprising, was taken prisoner by the Germans again, and ended the war as a 16-year-old POW, finally risking a dash for freedom onto an American truck rather than wait for "liberation" by the Soviets. Same Old SEIU

Times have changed, but the SEIU’s motives, and the means and tactics used to accomplish these motives remain the same. The SEIU’s ultimate goal is to achieve its agenda of destroying America’s free enterprise system and replacing it with socialism/communism. As seen in recent actions across the country, it is apparent the SEIU is still intent on fundamentally changing America, as is its cohort in the White House, President Obama. The President continues to create a welfare state and to attempt to overwhelm the American economy. In his State of the Union Address, Obama’s middle-class pitch made it very clear; his agenda is to continue to pit Americans against each other. Together, the President and the SEIU are intent on collapsing the American system. They fervently believe that their combined O-Cloward-Piven strategy is working, and that such a strategy is what is best for America and the rest of the world. [more...]

De Blasio Facing the Storm

"This could be a storm the likes of which we have never seen before," said New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio of the so-called Blizzard of 2015. Ideological efforts by progressives like de Blasio to centrally control everything are making our technologies and society dangerously vulnerable to natural and human-caused disruptions. Today, the progressive politics of centralized control are making us more vulnerable to other storms, whether from explosions on the sun or from terrorism. As with the Internet, the more we decentralize political power, the safer our future will be. [more...]

Are Americans too Detached?

The American public feels more financially secure yet more economically detached in a new survey conducted by Bankrate.com. Unfortunately the only thing the survey proved was out-of-sight out-of-mind and the belief that others' misfortune is not my concern. Most remaining middle class people, when really pushed, will acknowledge the fallacy of the 5.6% unemployment rate, after all, the 92 million people not counted in the participation pool are real. If, however, the public is not reminded of manipulated numbers, then it is easier for them to accept a statement "the economy is improving, after all, the unemployment rate was 6.7% in December, a year earlier. Of course, 5.6% is certainly better than 6.7%." [more...]

Drones Over Security Zones

Sunday night the White House lawn turned into a circus as chaos erupted following the downing of an unidentified flying object. Not a UFO though, it turned out to be a kiddy drone. In fact, the drone found on the lawn, a quad-copter, currently ranks as one of the top 10 best-selling toys on Amazon. Quad-copter drones are growing in popularity thanks to the fact that they can typically be purchased for under $100. This even includes those with cameras. Meanwhile, larger drones can cost up to $1,000. The cost-friendly toy marketed drone found on the White House lawn is said to be able to fly up to 50 yards, meaning that it was easily launched from one of the many public parks surrounding the White House. Free Community College - Is it Really Free?

Why do progressive socialists seek free community college for everyone? For starters, it's another entitlement program.  They think it will be popular.  Why would anyone want to turn down something "free" from the government? Free community college is also part of the progressive socialist's dream of cradle-to-grave social programs run by big government. Indeed, they think it will give big government more control over our lives. After all, many progressive socialists, socialists, Marxists, and others think big government and the elite who run big government should control the lives of citizens because citizens can't do it for themselves.  Remember the well publicized comments about Obamacare and the stupidity of the American voter? Is President Obama's Indifferent Leadership Making the USA Vulnerable to Our Enemies?

What are the consequences of President Obama's indifferent leadership on the world stage? What about America's position in the world?  What is the real reason Speaker Boehner is inviting the Israeli Prime Minister to speak to Congress? Do any of the GOP's 2016 candidates – or the Republican leadership on the Hill - actually stand for anything – other than themselves? This – and much more – will be discussed by the POLITICAL INSIDERS. [more...]

Davos Panelists Foresee the Death of Privacy

Eric Schmidt is the former software engineer who rose to become executive chairman of Google. Schmidt recently spoke to the top political, business, and financial minds gathered together at the World Economic Forum. The global event was held at the fashionable Swiss municipality of Davos.

Schmidt’s speech carried a prediction regarding the Internet, that being the World Wide Web as we know it is essentially destined to fade to black. Responding to a question about the Web’s future, Schmidt said, "I will answer very simply that the Internet will disappear."

The vanishing Net to which Schmidt refers is not the death of the Web per say, but rather the notion that the Internet of the future will so extensively permeate our lives, it will effectively be subsumed into life’s backdrop. In other words, it is Schmidt’s contention that in due time, people will no longer be consciously aware of the actual presence of the Internet. [more...]

1. Dr. Gerard Lameiro: State of the Union Rebuttal – A Conservative View
2. Bill Tatro: On the State of the Union

State of the Union Rebuttal – A Conservative View

What is the President proposing in the State of the Union message? First, capital gains tax rates will increase to 28%. Second, the higher capital gains tax rates will also be applied to certain “inherited assets” that are not currently taxed.  For example, if parents buy and hold some assets during their lifetime, and then give them to their children as part of their inheritance, the value of the assets at the time of inheritance (typically higher than when the parents purchased the assets) becomes the children’s tax basis for later capital gains.  Effectively, the asset appreciation during the time of the parents' ownership is tax free.  It is a vehicle for allowing tax free growth and giving children more. Those two steps are estimated to result in $320 billion in new taxes over a ten year period. [more...]

On the State of the Union

Given that the House and now the Senate are under Republican control, it would seem ludicrous that the President would announce programs that had no chance of passage. But announce he did. Falling oil prices, rising stock market, the unemployment rate, job creation, record college graduation, all were chronicled as Obama accomplishments. Most will insist the evening's entertainment as light with no real substance or anything that will seriously be accomplished. Au contraire! DOA? Not quite! [more...]

How GOP Can Destroy the Myth of the Obama Economy

Everywhere we turn in the media, we hear the lie that the Obama economy is in "recovery." Now it appears that Hillary has bought into this great lie. The word is that Hillary is about to tie her presidential campaign to Obama’s economic policies. Why? Because for the first time she believes the economy is in "recovery." She is no longer afraid or embarrassed to support Obama’s policies. Where are the GOP leaders to rip this narrative to shreds? Are they so blind, deaf and dumb that they have no idea there is no recovery for the middle class? There is only misery and poverty. Do Republican leaders believe the lies and propaganda spewed by Obama, his socialist cabal and the biased leftist media? It’s so easy to attack the lies and rip the "good news" to shreds. [more...]

Obama's Unbelievable "Statist of the Union" Speech Promises a "New Foundation" for U.S. Economy

In his "State of the Union" speech, President Obama recalled his campaign promise to "rebuild our economy on a new foundation." He offered few specifics Tuesday night, promising instead to "in two weeks... send this Congress a budget filled with ideas that are practical, not partisan." In previous years he had spoken of his plan to "fundamentally transform" the United States, and to "Joe the Plumber" of his belief that America works best when we "spread the wealth around." White House media allies reported that Mr. Obama has been planning to increase federal expenditures by at least 7 percent, despite a national deficit that has grown by an astonishing $7.5 trillion since he became president in 2009. As with Obamacare, "Doc Barack" apparently still believes in the collectivist progressive notion that government can create health, wealth and happiness by prescribing ever-greater doses of the hallucinatory, addictive drugs of taxing, spending and borrowing. [more...]

From Multiplier to Domino

The reality of falling gas prices has finally hit home. It is not 1973 when the bulk of every dollar put into the tank went to a Sheik who could care less about the well-being of the American public. It is now 2015 when about 80% of gasoline fill-ups stay in the continental United States and the Sheik be d____d. Being energy self-sufficient is a wonderful thing and will probably be touted by the President in his SOTU address. Unfortunately self-sufficiency brings the need for a profit margin to sustain the business AND everything else that has grown up around it. $45.00 oil doesn't cut it. [more...]

Create Your Own Economy

A few things are certainly true today: President Obama is finally seeing approval ratings teetering around the 50/50 level recently – which is great for him. This is worth about as much as saying that progress is underway in the fight against poverty in third world countries – which is true, it’s just happening excruciatingly slowly; and it depends on who you ask or where you go to obtain that information. Complicated problems aren’t they?  And by the end of the day, it all feels like a bunch of smoke and mirrors. Instead of betting on policy changes, luck, or the existing plan working to perfection thus necessitating no changes of any kind, perhaps alternatives should be considered. My alternative is to create your own economy. [more...]

The "American Sniper" Controversy

Clint Eastwood's, "American Sniper," has Hollywood insiders in a virtual state of shock. Executives and creative minds in Hollywood are wondering why the film did almost twice the revenue that anyone in the industry had expected. The project had initially been perceived (and by some is still viewed) as a simplistic, partisan, pro-military film and has a few Hollywood celebs in an uproar. But what Eastwood actually delivers in the movie is a realistic characterization of the consequences of war. [more...]

The VP Dodging Bullets

Who knew that it would be so hazardous to be the Vice President? The life of a Vice President of the United States of America cannot be an easy existence as it is; most are likely aware of this fact. Set aside the daily responsibility that naturally comes along with the life of being the heir to the most powerful man in the world. Set aside as well, the inability to divulge classified information which likely correlates with the creation of multiple stomach ulcers. Now think about how many of the most recent Vice Presidents (two of two) have had encounters with live fire ammunition. The most recent case with Vice President Biden is certainly a no harm, no foul situation considering the victimless nature of the crime. [more...]

If We Increase Taxes, We Decrease America's Standard of Living

More taxing and more spending is precisely the wrong strategy to take in this anemic recovery with over 92 million people who are not working.  I might add that the administration's third leg of their strategic policy triad, namely a whole lot more regulating of the American economy, is also counter-productive and a boat anchor on economic growth. Increasing capital gains tax rates is a roadblock to economic growth.  In examples throughout the last century, we know that lower capital gains tax rates act as an incentive to capital formation and investment, new business formation, new products and services, and new jobs.  Ultimately and ironically, even government revenues get a boost with a more robust economy with lower marginal capital gains rates. [more...]

More Tax Hikes?

For those of you who really don't get it, the government does not make "revenue," they collect taxes. Or in plain, simple English, they take your money! I don't have a real problem paying taxes. I don't want to do it, but I do understand the need to pay taxes for the basics like first responders (fire, police, ambulance), military, "basic" healthcare (hospitals and clinics), road work and maintenance (in the form of tire or gas taxes), snow removal, landslide removal... you get the picture: paying basic taxes for services received. But I don't want to fund the government's stupidity and inability to spend money wisely. [more...] Check out Joe on his new national show.

It is now war in Europe – Radical Islam vs. freedom. Is this war now going to come to the U.S.? Is Washington, D.C. hopelessly late to the dance? Why did it take one week for Secretary of State Kerry to get to Paris? Where is the GOP on this – and on Obamacare and immigration? Is there a growing feeling of betrayal inside the base of the Republican Party? Do any of the GOP's 2016 candidates actually stand for anything – other than themselves? Cyber Warfare - A technology Trillion Dollar Shot in the Arm

Big business is at war with a new cyber army. It has deployed its troops into the new world, a new frontier, and even nation states have joined in with massive efforts to hobble global commerce, specifically in the West. Sony, Target and even the Defense Department, among many others, are under siege. It has only just begun. The culprits are North Korea, China, Russia, Iran and now even ISIS. The fact is there are land laws, maritime laws, air and space laws, but the new frontier, cyber, is yet to be governed by similar standards and government rules of engagement around the world. The U.S. has extremely robust capabilities, both offensive and defensive, but critical infrastructure, power grids, nuclear, transportation and a multi-trillion dollar electronic business - from online business to banks and Wall Street - are woefully underprepared. 9/11, as terrible as that was, may pale in comparison to the global economic disruption that is coming to our shores anywhere and everywhere on the planet. [more...]

It’s Time for the Oil Industry to Plan its Exit Strategy

After steadily increasing to recent highs, the price of oil has been dropping dramatically in the past six to eight months as worldwide oil production reaches its own highs. Americans refuse to cut back on production because they are supporting job creation, which is a good enough reason for most. Saudis are not cutting production because they could care less what happens to America or the rest of the world. This phenomenon, in part, leads to a surplus in the American market which is contributing to the creation of a massive ripple effect on the underlying oil commodity market. Part of the money making ability of companies in the oil and gas Industry is directly correlated with the price of their particular type of oil. [more...]

Media's Confusing Messages

"U.S. Retail Drops the Most Since 2012" ... "Holiday Sales Rise the Most Since 2011" ... huh? A bit confusing wouldn’t you say? But those were the headlines that greeted me with my morning coffee. I assumed that the decline imbedded in the first headline was due to a decrease in gasoline sales. While sales volume is probably the same, it was just the price that dropped by 40%.  I was correct, but I was also a bit surprised to learn that miscellaneous store retailers, electronics, appliances, clothing, sporting goods, books, music and department stores all went negative. Bush was 100% Right After 9/11

Fourteen years after 9/11, it is tragically clear that President Bush was right about the threat we faced and Democrats are suicidally wrong. The 9/11 attacks were indeed a salvo in the war Islamists have declared on us but even now, all these years later, Democrats still want to regard such attacks as acts of individual criminality, and deal with them through the legal justice system, affording American rights to those who want to destroy American rights.  Why, you may ask yourself, is the Boston Marathon bomber going to be tried in a criminal court of law, where he will be able to make propaganda for his cause underwritten by his victims? Because Democrats want it that way. It shows we're superior to everybody else. [more...]

Obama's Stubborn Denial of the Terror Threat Endangers Americans

The Islamic terror attack on the magazine Charlie Hebdo in Paris was carried out by Muslim criminals who were apparently trained in Yemen. Meanwhile, national security officials are warning of an imminent threat to Europe and the United States from jihadi soldiers who are returning from the wars in Syria and Iraq.

According to the head of the FBI and other first responders, there is no way to stop their re-entry because, after all, they have American passports. Nor is there any way to stop them in Syria and Iraq since President Obama has surrendered both countries to our enemies.

The Democratic mayor of New York - ground zero for the Islamic war - has even stopped the surveillance of jihadi mosques, the breeding grounds for domestic "lone wolves." And with our southern border shredded by Mr. Obama and the Democrats, it’s not going to be difficult even for foreign jihadis to reach their infidel targets. Of course, the president doesn’t like the word "terror" to begin with, let alone "Islamic terror." Thanks to him, the Islamic war against the United States is officially referred to as an "overseas contingency operation," while domestic Islamic mayhem is filed under the category "workplace violence." America's Best Climate Prediction Expert Finally Gets Noticed

Climate change has been a volatile issue for years, even amongst leading scientists and researchers from other disciplines. In his new book, Dark Winter: How the Sun is Causing a 30-Year Cold Spell, scientist John L. Casey, a former White House national space policy advisor, NASA headquarters consultant and space shuttle engineer, tells the truth about ominous changes taking place in the climate and the sun.

In Orlando, Florida, John L. Casey is the lone climate researcher who, for almost eight years, has been putting the U.S. government's best scientists and science agencies to shame, when it comes to accurately making major climate predictions. This is especially true when compared to Al Gore-style global warming politicians, government funded university Ph.D. climate scientists and the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (UN-IPCC).

The UN-IPCC is the UN's climate research arm that historians may someday remember best for unreliable climate models and associated wildly exaggerated, and erroneous temperature and sea level rise predictions. The "climategate" scandal at the UN will likewise be prominent for the disclosure that its supposed "best climate scientists" falsified or manipulated climate data to fit the politically motivated manmade global warming storyline. The Significance of the Golden Globes

The awards season is in high gear, and the time period leading up to the Oscars is now replete with shows that look and feel very much like the upcoming Academy Awards. Last night's 72nd Golden Globe Awards, as well as the upcoming Screen Actors Guild (SAG) and Critics' Choice Movie Awards, are likely to have a significant impact on the ultimate Academy Award winners.

The effects, however, may be manifesting themselves in very different ways. Various guild awards typically assert influence on individual categories; for example, the Directors Guild Awards should expectedly play a large role in determining the winner of the Academy's Best Director category. Hollywood insiders usually do not attach a high degree of significance to the Globe awards in terms of prestige. However, awards such as these do tend to provide public relations momentum and name recognition, operating as a sort of prelude to the most coveted awards, the Oscars. [more...]

Predictions for the Economy in 2015

Although the consumer sentiment in the U.S. alone appears to be on the rise, Thanksgiving and Christmas retail sales were lackluster at best and the season was carried by online sales at best.  Unemployment is down and the stock market up.  It all looks good for 2015. But wait... the world is uncertain due to the withdrawal of American leadership abroad.  If you think Greece caused a worldwide panic, wait until sanctions in Russia really take hold and the imminent backlash there.  Buy beltway bandits or defense stocks with a focus on cyber security - they will do well. [more...]

Why Raise Rates?

Inflation, whether determined by core, headline, or the feds' own internal measurement, is not approaching the cyclonic days of yesteryear. As a matter of fact, the world in general, and the U.S. in particular, cannot even get the rate to a paltry 2%. That's paltry by the '70's standards. Mortgage origination is at all-time lows. Oil has dropped 55% in 6 months. The housing market's post '08 bubble now seems to have sprung a leak. The only jobs being offered are minimum wage. Mainstream media says rates will rise by mid-summer. The economic gang of 68 (those who unanimously predicted 4% 10-year treasuries by the end of 2014) say increases could be sooner. Even the fed heads are saying "lackluster inflation won't prevent a rate hike." So, why raise rates? [more...]

Why Does the Media Lie About Race to Protect Obama?

Why does the media lie about race? Why do they lie to cover up for Obama? It started out as embarrassing and pathetic, but it’s moved on to pure fraud. Why does the media allow Obama to give press conferences about the handful of black Americans killed by police officers, but never mention the police officers murdered by black criminals? It happens all the time, but Obama never says a word about it. That’s his prerogative, but it’s the media’s job to question him - to point out the inconsistencies - to call him on the hypocrisy and what looks to both police officers and law-abiding citizens as a dangerous double standard that incites violence against police. Is Cable on its Way Out?

A new era is upon us.  Recently Dish Network announced their newest project that will be cutting ties with cable lines. The new Internet streaming service is called Sling TV, which will give users programming from a package of channels, including ESPN, for $20 a month. The appeal of watching live sports is what keeps many in the loop with pay TV. But that was then and this is now. Although CBS and HBO have recently also cut their ties with cable contracts, Sling TV is the first service from an actual cable - technically satellite - company to get in the game. Better watch out Netflix. It looks like it’s time to up your game. Netflix may have a great thing going for them, but only cable providers such as AT&T U-Verse offer on-demand accessibility to the box office’s most recent movie releases. [more...]

The End of the Mainstream Media

I believe 2015 is the year that America will witness the end of the mainstream media.  That's a bold statement.  Yet, I believe 2015 will turn out to be a significant inflection point in American history.  Years from now, when historians look back at 2015, I believe it will be considered the year the mainstream media died; and it will be considered a major turning point in American political and economic history. Let's look at what really constitutes the mainstream media, the major trends and how the mainstream media has declined; and the factors that are causing the end of the mainstream.  Finally, and very importantly, how will the end of the mainstream media impact the 2016 elections? The Rest of the "Unbroken" Story

Alfred Hitchcock once said that the drama in movies is like "life with the dull bits cut out." Along the lines of Hitchcock's quote, some of life's dull bits are indeed cut out of Angelina Jolie's inspiring directorial triumph, "Unbroken." However, while Jolie's film was careful to exclude some of life's more mundane moments, one unfortunate writing and editing move made by the "Unbroken" decision makers was to not include, within the dramatic narrative about Louie Zamperini, the most important event in the World War II veteran and former Olympian’s remarkable life story. Greece Leaving the European Union?

Angela Merkel's rationalization at the exit of Greece from the "great experiment" is acceptable if Germany and Greece existed in a vacuum.  Unfortunately that is not the case. As bail-ins have become the template for failed banks around the world (think Cypress), so too will the Greek snap election become the model for Spain, Italy and even France. Not only Germany but also the top 1% of each European member have become the winners in the failed experiment. The 1% who have been able to benefit from artificial asset appreciation continued to believe that the Keynesian/debt model will exist forever.  Didn't Marie Antoinette once say "let them eat cake?" [more...]

The "Positives" of the Obama Presidency

You might ask "What is the positive side of the Obama presidency?" Well there are a few groups that should celebrate. For my fellow constitutional and second amendment patriots, Obama is the greatest gun salesman in history. Over 70 million guns have been purchased since Obama took office. For my fellow fiscal conservatives and capitalists, Obama is the greatest gold salesman ever. Conservatives love gold. Gold after all is the antidote to a debt crisis and lack of confidence in a reckless or incompetent government. That's why record sums of gold were bought during the past 6 years. Obama is also the greatest thing to ever happen to print shop owners. While the rest of us are struggling to keep our heads above water, print shop owners can't keep up with the demand for "Going Out of Business" and "Home For Sale by Bank" signs. [more...]

Big Labor Conundrum

Over the past four decades, Big Labor has continued to see its membership shrink drastically as its leaders use the same failed tactics involving forced unionism. The argument that most workers are better off without unions today is supported by the fact that unions now represent approximately 11.3% of the total workforce and 6.6% of the private workforce, a steep fall from their heyday in 1945 when they represented about 35.5% of the workforce. Yet Big Labor has refused to change. Isn't the definition of insanity, "continuing to do the same thing, but expecting different results?" [more...]
