When the Iranian people rose up in June of 2009 to protest the fraudulent re-election of former President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, they were brutally suppressed. Gross human rights abuses have continued during the so-called "moderate" Rouhani's presidency. Journalists, students, women's rights advocates and members of civil society languish in jail. Executions have increased. Thus, President Obama should not hold his breath waiting for a candid response to his message from the Iranian people suffering under their regime's tyrannical rule. Bush vs. Cruz - Stark Contrast in Strategy

The Jeb Bush strategy appears to be about getting the top Republican donors to support his potential campaign.  That's why he has been following a so-called shock and awe campaign with about five dozen fund-raisers in the early months.  If Jeb Bush manages to snag the bulk of major contributors, it might turn out to be a very small field of presidential candidates after all.  Overall, Jeb Bush's strategy is to leverage the good will associated with his last name, family friends, advisers, and donor network.  Senator Ted Cruz is following a much different strategy.  It appears that he is following a "disruptive strategy" - in other words, following an approach that confuses the competition and throws them off guard.  If followed properly and creatively, it can totally beat the competition and do so before they realize how to react to it.  Ted Cruz's early announcement (before April 1st) is disruptive in nature.  Why?  The answer lies in when donations are reported. Rather than seek to corral the big donors of the traditional Republican establishment, Senator Ted Cruz appears to be seeking a large number of small "retail" donors from small businesses, the tea party, and everyday voters fed up with Washington. Indiana Gov. Pence and the Religious Freedom Restoration Act

Indiana Gov. Mike Pence recently signed a piece of legislation into law, Senate Bill 101, which is titled the Religious Freedom Restoration Act. The legislation has the specific design of prohibiting government from interference with an individual's right to freely exercise his or her religion. According to Gov. Pence "... it essentially says, if a government is going to compel you to act in a way that violates your religious beliefs, there has to be a compelling state interest. The U.S. Constitution and the Indiana Constitution both provide strong recognition of the freedom of religion but today, many people of faith feel their religious liberty is under attack by government action," Gov. Pence indicated. Responding to critics, he told reporters that the bill was "not about discrimination. If I thought it legalized discrimination in any way I would've vetoed it." [more...]

I wish him a wonderful retirement. It's time for golf, grandchildren and cruises to Mexico. Harry Reid clearly made the right decision for the country, the Senate, the people of Nevada and himself. Then there's Harry Reid's record. Why does the President of these Unites States continue to hold the UN in such high esteem? Talk about a bunch of self-loving, overpowered failures. They get more things wrong than POTUS does. Last year Iran was chosen to head up the UN Human Rights Council... really! That's the same council that, just years before, asked for Human Rights inspectors to be sent to Iran to investigate numerous human rights violations. Governor Pence, No Deed Goes Unpunished... Good or Not

Indiana Governor Mike Pence stirred up a controversy after signing a religious freedom bill into law this week. The problem is not so much against religious freedom, but rather that the law could be used by people or companies to discriminate against others using religion as the basis of their argument. Critics suggest that this leaves lesbians, gays, bisexuals and trans-genders exceptionally open to being discriminated against (more than they already currently are). The timing of Pence's bill was poor planning on his part, and very bad for state business affairs. This comes right as the NCAA Tournament's final four are about to play, and in the very same year that the nationally popular basketball tournament is based out of the state of Indiana. When businesses are threatening to boycott the state, and the state is already paying mega bucks to host the tournament, it would have been financial suicide for the governor to sit back and wait for the controversial aftermath of a mess to settle down. Therefore, the logical thing to do is to take action. The coming days will show how motivated Governor Pence is towards clarifying the intentions behind his bill. [more...]

The Big Sham inside a Possible Kerry-Iran Nuclear Deal

As a key component of a possible 2016 campaign for president, Kerry badly wants a nuclear deal with Iran as he believes he might win the Nobel Peace Prize for this accord. And that accomplishment will launch his campaign for the Democratic presidential nomination. He very well knows that one of the sticking points to this controversial Iran deal will be on-site inspections of Iranian military sites, where it is suspected that secret, underground nuclear weapons development is ongoing in violation of current agreements - despite claims by Tehran that its nuclear program is solely for "peaceful, civilian purposes." Make no mistake, Hillary Clinton will be our next President. The math is all in her favor. Many will vehemently oppose this premise, most of which are in the "I hate Hillary" camp. They will argue that it's a long way until November 2016 and anything can happen. They won't forget her baggage; they will proclaim Whitewater, Benghazi, foreign money, the foundation, e-mails, and even her marriage to Bill. She looks tired, they say, and she'll be old if and when she takes office - all of which is irrelevant. Do the math. Women will see it as their time as it was for blacks in 2008. Anyone on the dole will be concerned that the government checks may stop coming without Hillary. Add it all up: California, New York, Massachusetts, Ohio, Florida and perhaps even Texas will give their electoral votes to the former First Lady, Senator, Secretary of State. Whatever happens over the next 20 months regarding Mrs. Clinton will amount to SOUND AND FURY SIGNIFYING NOTHING. It Takes More Money than Ideas to Run for President

The 2016 race for the While House is starting early this go-round; Ted Cruz is officially the first republican presidential candidate to launch his campaign. He’s selling himself as an unabashed Christian conservative who has the intent to undo a lot of Obama’s agenda. With his preacher-stylized delivery, not only does he plan to eliminate Obamacare, but to place unprecedented restrictions on abortion, empower states to decide about gay marriage independently, and he promises to aggressively tackle illegal immigration and deport all illegals. Despite being a man with a mission, I think Cruz will struggle to raise the funds needed for an effective run. His biggest fan in corporate America is the oil and gas industry, but that industry is not faring very well these days. Cruz will undoubtedly be an underdog in the 2016 fundraising derby, but there is no arguing that this party is only JUST getting started, and this businesswoman cannot say she plans to attend his. We are seeing the beginning stages of another recession at best, or a total economic meltdown at worst. At the moment, there are no decent paying jobs in America. Obama has opened the border and given amnesty to at least 5 million illegal aliens already in the country, thereby putting them in competition with working class and middle class Americans. Think I’m wrong? Did you know the government is giving businesses a $3,000 incentive to hire illegals over native-born Americans? Did you know cities are hiring non-citizens (and even illegal aliens given amnesty by Obama) as police officers? Obama Nukes Deal "Partner" Ayatollah Khamenei Proves "The Enemy of Your Enemy is Your Enemy"

Iran's Supreme Leader, theocrat Ayatollah Khamenei - deemed, appropriately, the third most influential contemporary Muslim eminence worldwide - during a speech delivered March 12, 2015 reiterated Iran's conquering, totalitarian Islamic worldview. Khamenei stressed inculcating, even amongst Western youth, "the Islam of jihad and fighting." Such jihadism was to be directed, specifically, at "opponents of this [Islamic] movement and outlook," Khamenei re-stating the Koranic injunctions that Islam compelled Muslims to be "hard to the unbelievers."

Two days after President Obama acknowledged Iran's New Year's celebrations with a conciliatory appeal to the Iranian people, and leadership, Khamenei responded, on March 21, 2015, to what he characterized as the "dishonest things" in the Obama address. Validating an assembled audience's chants of "Death to America," Khamenei stated, "Death to America, of course," while decrying the U.S. as the chief culprit behind economic sanctions on the Islamic Republic.

One day earlier, March 20, 2015 the irrefragable truth of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's recent pronouncement before Congress that, "when it comes to Iran and ISIS, the enemy of your enemy is your enemy," was confirmed. Shiite worshipers from Iran's surrogate minions at the Houthi Al-Hashoush Mosque in Sanaa, Yemen, were engaged in the following exchange just as they were immolated by an ISIS homicide bombing:  "Preacher: Our belief in Allah will increase after today. We will triumph over their deceit and their arrogance. Allah is with us... Worshipers: Death to America. Death to Israel. Curse upon the Jews. Victory to Islam. Allah Akbar." (Then... kaboom! - literally!)

Khamenei could not have been more blunt and explicit in his pronouncements, while the Sunni ISIS on Shiite Iran-proxy murderous violence in Yemen should speak for itself. Nonetheless, one can be certain that the self-evident implications of both Khamenei's words and the Sunni-Shiite internecine jihadist carnage in Yemen will be ignored, obfuscated, or dismissed by a vast swath of the U.S. political, media, academic, and religious establishment. Most assuredly, and ominously, this willful denial applies to the Obama Administration brain trust brokering a dangerous and destabilizing nuclear agreement with Iran, enshrining Iran's "right" to enrich uranium, with simultaneous "quick" economic sanctions relief, and even a partial lifting of the embargo on arms sales to the Islamic Republic. The recent Republican budget proposal to slash student aid by $150 billion represents an egregious elimination of vital support for our higher education system.  The United States faces $1.3 trillion in outstanding student debt, a three-fold increase in tuition cost over the past 30 years, and an increasingly competitive labor market for college graduates.  These variables have created an environment in which a college education is increasingly necessary in order to achieve the "American Dream," though a college education is becoming less accessible than ever before. We cannot sit back and allow this to happen.  These programs are integral to the success of our nation.  Education is a portal to achievement and fundamental to our people’s evolution.  We must put an end to these proposals and unite in support, not abandonment, of our nation’s students. The Presidential Race Starts with Cruz Announcement

Yesterday Sen. Ted Cruz officially launched his presidential campaign bid at Liberty University in Virginia.  Calling himself a "courageous conservative," he offered a conservative agenda that includes the complete repeal of Obamacare and the elimination of both Common Core and the IRS.  Also included were a flat tax economic policy, pro-life and pro-traditional marriage policies, as well as strong support for Israel and a tough stance against terrorism.  Sen. Cruz also advocated closing our borders to illegal immigration and voiced strong support for the First Amendment and religious freedom, as well the Second Amendment and the right to keep and bear arms for all law-abiding citizens. Should Voting Be Mandatory?

"It would be transformative if everybody voted," as Australians are required to do, President Barack Obama told an audience in Cleveland on March 18. Mr. Obama suggested that mandatory American voting "would counteract [campaign] money more than anything. If everybody voted, then it would completely change the political map in this country." Obama's idea - in effect, a reverse poll tax on non-voters - has cooled as scholars noted that we do not have a national election in America. We have 50 state elections, and a constitutional amendment would need approval of three-fourths of those states to make nationwide voting compulsory. The Future of Entertainment - Augmented Reality

Entertainment's future has arrived, and it has come in the form of a developing technology known as augmented reality. Most are already familiar with virtual reality in which technology is utilized to enable a simulated world to supplant the real one. Virtual reality immerses an individual into a complete digital environment without said person having any cognizance of the world that is surrounding him or her. Currently, the most recognized virtual reality devices are headsets made by Facebook's Oculus Rift or Sony's Morpheus. In augmented reality, the physical world is actually added on to through the addition of computer-generated imagery, sound, video, and other sensory stimulus. The result is an overlay of information and digital objects, which creates both an enhancement of the perception of reality and an environment that is interactive. [more...]

Although if Obama’s campaign operatives were smart they might have made it happen considering a recent CNN poll showing that the majority of Israelis don’t trust Mr. Obama. Apparently, it’s okay to send the same campaign team that ran and is still involved in the daily social media messaging for the Obama team over to Israel to try to influence an election using the same tactics they use here - you know: bussing in voters, robo-calls twisting the facts (lying) about Netanyahu. FL Governor Rick Scott, Secretary of State John Kerry Both Lose Spat over Climate

We can only laugh and shake our heads to see the antics of both Secretary of State Kerry and Florida Governor Rick Scott as they throw darts at each other’s party and their knowledge, or lack thereof, on the subject of climate change. The latest spat is driven by comments from the ever incredulous Secretary of State John Kerry when he indirectly condemned Governor Scott’s apparent silent policy of prohibiting state employees using terms like "climate change," and "global warming." Kerry’s counter to Scott’s unwritten policy came via a diatribe at the Atlantic Council this week. Kerry said " ...by what right do people stand up and just say 'I dispute that’ or 'I deny that’ ...when science tells us that our climate is changing and human beings are largely causing that change." It was a media sop that would have carried even more weight if he were right about the "science" of climate change. Sadly, he was not.

Obama Whitewashes Iranian Terrorism

The Obama administration is shamelessly whitewashing the Iranian regime’s state sponsorship of global terrorism, no doubt to help soften Iran’s image in preparation for trying to foist a bad nuclear deal on the American people. It also did the same thing for Iran’s jihadist proxy terrorist group, Hezbollah. The administration’s most recent unclassified version of the Worldwide Threat Assessment of the U.S. Intelligence Community report published on February 26, 2015, delivered to the U.S. Senate by National Intelligence director James Clapper, conspicuously omitted any reference to the ongoing terrorist threat posed by Iran and Hezbollah. While acknowledging that Iran remains "an ongoing threat to U.S. national interests," the report noted Iran’s "intentions to dampen sectarianism, build responsive partners, and deescalate tensions with Saudi Arabia." The report also noted Iran's commitment of more resources to the fight against the Sunni extremists of the Islamic State. [more...]

When it comes to wills, most people procrastinate.  They say, "I’ll get to that later," "I don’t have enough money to worry about," or "It’s way too expensive."  Most recently a colleague of mine quoted an appalling statistic - appalling because for over 30 years I have been calling out to America through radio, television, newspapers, seminars and the Internet, to get their legal/financial affairs in order. The statistic he quoted was that in 2014, 72% of all the deceased in America passed away without so much as a simple will.  Was he accurate?  I have no reason to believe he wasn’t but if even only half of his statistic was true, the number is stunning. The reality is that procrastination is a decision - to allow the government, the courts and attorneys to determine the what, who and how of the distribution of your assets and even the guardianship of your children. Additionally, it’s an American idealistic fantasy to be able to retire in your 20’s, but surprisingly it’s not the typically logical path if you are a signed athlete with the National Football League. It must be the love of the game for these men that keeps them going season after season. Perhaps it’s the adoration and addiction to fame, or the notoriety and power; or perhaps it is because football is all they know and they don’t know how to handle the ridiculous amounts of money they make. Hillary is Trickier than She Looks

I have been mystified and enthralled by magicians my whole life.  Perhaps two of the greatest magicians of all time are Bill and Hillary Clinton.  Much like the great illusionists who direct your attention to one area only to be doing something in another, it is very possible that this entire episode has been contrived. The Hillary-ites will contend that it is not a public scandal and there is really nothing to see... just move on.  The right wing, from talk show hosts to Presidential candidates, will dismiss this position and continue the drumbeat for many months to come.  Privacy and national security will meet head-on in the mainstream media and even on the blogosphere.  Let the lengthy debate begin. 30,000 deleted e-mails on a server in her house will eventually be read, but not for a while, perhaps several months.  Any personal e-mails that cross the line will be scrubbed and sanitized.  Not possible?  Of course it is!  We’re talking about the Clintons, after all, and at stake: the most powerful position in the world. Growth of Streaming Has Cable and Broadcast Worried

Audiences for broadcast and cable television have been gradually diminishing over the last several years. A recent event, which was held by the Cabletelevision Advertising Bureau (CAB) for entertainment advertising professionals, explored the reasons for the decline in viewership. According to the CAB, roughly 40% of the ratings shrinkage that occurred in the last six months of 2014 was caused by people who opted to obtain their entertainment content from subscription streaming services, which included Amazon, Netflix, and Hulu, among others. Why Not Prosecute Harry Reid, Hillary Clinton or Jon Corzine?

Harry Reid could be the dirtiest politician in the U.S. Senate. He entered the U.S. Senate with little or no assets then proceeded to become one of the wealthiest men in the Senate on a $170,000 annual salary. Really? All the while doling out billions (with a B) in government contracts and green energy "investments" that ethics watchdogs call "influence peddling." Hillary Clinton deleted over 30,000 e-mails. She has multiple e-mail accounts. They were insecure. She claims she had the right to determine which e-mails were private. She made the decision what to delete. I guarantee you all her e-mails relating to Benghazi were deleted. The woman is a criminal. How about Jon Corzine - he lost the New Jersey governor's race, went back to Wall Street, and proceeded to lose $1.6 billion (with a B) of his clients' money that was supposed to be protected in escrow accounts. But Corzine was a major bundler for Obama (twice).  Lo and behold, the U.S. Justice Dept. decided not to prosecute. All three move forward without a blemish. [more...]

Banning the American Flag on Campus

On our college campuses across the country we have an ever-growing group of young men and women who don’t really understand how they got there. On one campus in particular, in sunny California, one of the student body groups decided to ban ALL flags from being displayed in prominent places on campus, especially the American flag because, to them, it is a symbol of oppression! The American flag a symbol of oppression! They have no clue as to what oppression really is. Hey ladies in that group, go over to Iran, Syria and Saudi Arabia to get a taste of what real oppression looks like. In those places, you aren't allowed to go to school, marry who you want, wear the latest fashion or drive. Go ahead and protest the government there for equal rights. Obama Wants Us to Sign a Neutrality Agreement

In previous Devil at Our Doorstep blogs, the connection between the communist SEIU and President Obama and their desire to destroy America and turn it into a socialistic totalitarian dictatorship have been presented.

President Obama's actions since the 2014 Midterm Elections support this position. The President is utilizing the SEIU's "Persuasion of Power" by incorporating its Death by a Thousand Cuts corporate campaign strategy to fundamentally transform America, just as he promised within five days of taking the oath of office. In essence, he is acting to force Americans and their representatives in Congress to sign a Neutrality Agreement and impose Card Check on America.

Card Check is a concept used by big labor to eliminate peoples' choice when voting for union representation and ultimately disenfranchises them from their employers, free choice and the free market. President Obama, trained by the SEIU is attempting to force Americans to agree to the same process with respect to government in order to achieve his agenda, and that of his controllers, to destroy the American republic/free enterprise system and replace it with socialistic totalitarianism. Nothing Says Political Like Selma

The President went to Selma, Alabama to celebrate and commemorate the march across the bridge that helped bring civil rights to the forefront, into the living rooms of all Americans, and help move it forward. I say celebrate the sacrifices made that day in Selma by people of all colors, yes, mostly black, but many others as well. The actions of those people that day sparked and continued a movement that couldn’t and won’t be stopped! Jump ahead 50 years. We have a black president, a black attorney general, and many positions of authority at the White House are filled by people who have black skin (sorry, I’m not calling them all “African-American” because I have been told by many blacks that they are not all of African descent). We have come a long way in 50 years. I have to say, the President made many good and honest remarks in his speech about the sacrifices made that day for black Americans. But it stops there. Racism in America

Two Ferguson police officers resigned after the release of a Justice Department report that cited racist e-mail exchanges involving members of the city’s police force and local court officials; and, likewise, Court Clerk Mary Ann Twitty was fired Wednesday due to similar issues. The e-mails depicted several malicious jokes that were based on offensive stereotypes. This happened shortly before a weekend that honored the 50th anniversary of the civil rights march on Selma, which led to a change in voting laws. Selma represents a darker time in U.S. history where 50 years later the nation’s first black president delivered a speech on the same bridge among recent ugly months full of racially controversial events yet again. Time for New York to Lift the Mixed Martial Arts Ban

New York State Governor Andrew Cuomo is seeking to reverse an existing state law regarding mixed martial arts (MMA). MMA was actually banned in New York, the only state in the nation to do so; this occurred when Sheldon Silver held the position of Speaker of the New York State Assembly. The action that Gov. NASA Admits That Winters are Going to Get Colder... Much Colder

Climate change has been a volatile issue for years, even amongst leading scientists and researchers from other disciplines. In his new book, Dark Winter: How the Sun is Causing a 30-Year Cold Spell, scientist John L. Casey, a former White House national space policy advisor, NASA headquarters consultant and space shuttle engineer, tells the truth about ominous changes taking place in the climate and the sun. Climatologist Casey thinks that last year's winter, described by USA Today as "one of the snowiest, coldest, most miserable on record" is going to be a regular occurrence over the coming decades. Casey asserts that there is mounting evidence that the Earth is getting cooler due to a decline in solar activity. He warns that a major alteration of global climate has already started and that at a minimum, it is likely to last 30 years. Casey predicts food shortages and civil unrest caused by those shortages due largely to governments not preparing for the issues that colder weather will bring. He also predicts that wickedly bitter winter temperatures will see demand for electricity and heating outstrip the supply. [more...]

Tom Cotton's Deal: Republicans Are Not Traitors

It was only the beginning when Prime Minister Netanyahu spoke before Congress about Iran and the very serious topics Andrew G. Bostom, M.D., M.S. describes in his explosive new book, Iran's Final Solution for Israel - The Legacy of Shi'ite Islamic Jew-Hatred in Iran. Now comes a letter sent by 47 Republican senators to Iranian leaders in defiance of President Barack Obama with freshman Senator Tom Cotton of Arkansas leading the pack. "We're making sure that Iran's leaders understand if Congress doesn't approve a deal, Congress won't accept a deal," says Cotton. The letter was addressed to the "Leaders of the Islamic Republic of Iran."

Dr. Bostom will explain why we must support Sen. Tom Cotton/the GOP-47 and their letter to Iran, as a means of ending these self-destructive "negotiations" with a Shiite theocratic regime whose ugly and dangerous ideological pillars are jihadism, Islamic Jew-hatred, and the active dehumanization of all non-Muslims via "najis" - "uncleanliness of the infidel" - doctrine.

The doctrine of "najis" is very much alive as evidenced by Iranian theocratic leader Ayatollah Khamenei's 2013 tweet about Israel as an "unclean rabid dog," and his 2013 fatwa against "unclean" Bahai - a religious minority within Iran - that has increased their dehumanizing persecution. Parva Rahmanian's family used to run a flower shop in Iran - until the government revoked their business license. The reason given was simple: as Baha'is, they were "unclean" - and so were their floral designs. The uncleanliness of the Baha'is was, to the world's great shock and outrage, the subject of a recent (2013) fatwa by the Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, which stated, "Any communication, friendship, or association with the Baha'i, a damned sect, must be avoided." Subsequently, Parva Rahmanian and her family "received a letter from the Justice Bureau saying that as a florist, one's hands get wet while decorating flowers, and given that Baha'is are considered unclean by the high-ranking clerics... the work permit was revoked"

Using Iranian Foreign Minister Zarif's interview last Wednesday on NBC News as an example, Dr. Bostom can also explain how Iran practices "takiya" - sanctioned Islamic dissimulation - in negotiations, as part of its jihad doctrine, rendering the whole idea of talks, dubious at best, and self-destructive at worst. 

Republican Liberty Caucus Announces Wayne Allyn Root as Chairman of National Campaign Committee

The National Board of the Republican Liberty Caucus (RLC) has voted to name Wayne Allyn Root as Chairman of its National Campaign Committee as well as Chairman of the RLC Advisory Board. Root, now back to his lifelong Republican roots, was the Libertarian vice presidential nominee in 2008, as well as an elected board member of the Libertarian National Committee, and Chairman of the Libertarian National Campaign Committee.

One of America’s most vocal critics of the Obama administration, Root is a frequent radio and TV guest, political commentator, syndicated political columnist, and the author of the national bestselling books, "The Ultimate Obama Survival Guide" and "The Murder of the Middle Class."

"We are very excited to have Wayne on board," said Matt Nye, RLC National Chairman. "Wayne is an extremely talented, charismatic and dynamic media personality; he's an outspoken advocate for liberty, but he is particularly fierce on economic freedom and the U.S. Constitution."

Bibi Destroys Iran and Obama with One Masterful Speech

Americans and the world got a lesson in chutzpah with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin "Bibi" Netanyahu's speech before Congress on Tuesday. That’s the Jewish word for "balls." No one else in the world could have pulled off what Bibi did. Talk about a masterful speech. Netanyahu walked into a joint session of the U.S. Congress like he owned it, like he was the President of the United States. He received 29 standing ovations. If you just dropped in from another planet, you might have assumed you were watching U.S. President Netanyahu give his State of the Union. Keep in mind Bibi is the leader of a tiny nation with the population of some anonymous, obscure African nation. Yet he held court over the U.S. Congress for almost an hour like he was the most powerful man in the world, like he was the leader of America, Russia, China, the U.K. or Germany. That takes chutzpah. Personal Business Breach – Another Clinton Transgression

While former President Bill Clinton was shocked to learn that the artist who painted a portrait of him hanging in the National Portrait Gallery had also discreetly included Monica Lewinsky’s dress shadow in the painting, the rest of the nation was shocked to learn that Hillary Clinton only used a personal e-mail address during her tenure as Secretary of State. And it turns out that her more casual way of conducting business may have violated federal requirements. It is extremely unusual for such a high-office official to use their personal account professionally. I’d give her a break if she slipped up between her different mobile in boxes occasionally, but it turns out that she didn’t even have a government e-mail address. Fortunately, this is not the norm within our government, since it’s an obvious security risk in addition to being more difficult to track e-mail records. [more...]

It's an Ice Age for Sure

In his new book, Dark Winter: How the Sun is Causing a 30-Year Cold Spell, scientist John L. Casey, a former White House national space policy advisor, NASA headquarters consultant and space shuttle engineer, tells the truth about ominous changes taking place in the climate and the sun. The fact is the Earth had been in a cooling cycle that began in 1996 when the sun entered a cycle of reduced radiation. Such cycles were well known and most dramatically tied to the mini-ice age that occurred between 1300 and 1850. Solar observers had noticed many centuries ago that when there were few sunspots - magnetic storms - on the surface of the Sun, the Earth got colder. This has become especially dramatic because, on February 17 a post on thesiweather.com called for a discussion of the fact that "The Sun has gone quiet again during the weakest solar cycle in more than a century." The post says, "If history is a guide, it is safe to say that weak solar activity for a prolonged period of time can have a negative impact on global temperatures in the troposphere which is the bottom-most layer of Earth's atmosphere - and where we all live."
