2018 Leftist Ideas Most Worth of Mockery and Derision
By Karen Kataline

It’s time once again for those year-end lists when people rate everything from sports to literature. When it comes to politics and the bizarre notions from today’s Left, there is an embarrassment of riches from which to choose. Since Democrats had no federal legislative power in 2018, it was a banner year for advancing liberal language and cultural concepts. Whenever Democrats work to change our language today, it’s only the first step in their mission to change our policies tomorrow. Now that they are set to take control of the U.S. House of Representatives, look for them to roll out those policies one after another. [more...]

Adam McKay's Oscar-Seeking 'Vice'
By James Hirsen

Filmmaker Adam McKay is a comedian, whose stand-up helped him lock in a gig as head writer for “Saturday Night Live” for two seasons. Like so many modern-day stars who have parlayed their success into full-fledged liberal activism in exchange for the secret promise of more accolades and awards, McKay’s latest outing, titled “Vice,” is a biopic of the hateful and distorted kind. In the film, he re-writes the historical annals of Dick Cheney, who served as Secretary of Defense (1989 to 1993) during the presidency of the late President George H.W. Bush, and who went on to serve as Vice President of the United States (2001 to 2009) in the administration of former President George W. Bush. [more...]

The Way to Fund the Border Wall
By Lowell Ponte

Democrats have chosen to defund the federal government rather than pay a pittance to protect our country. Some kind of solution is desperately needed. The lack of a solid, impenetrable barrier has flooded the United States with an invasion of up to 22 million illegal immigrants. If neither Mexico nor the Democratic Party will agree to pay for the border wall, President Trump does have other ways and means of doing so, as I argued a year ago. He and the Republican Party, for example, could impose a 20 percent tax or tariff on imports, which would be paid in part by Americans in higher prices, to have “Mexico pay for the wall.” Better, we could impose a “border adjustment tax.”  [more...]

Is Taxpayer Money Going to a Terror Refugee Resettlement Charity?
By Daniel Greenfield

$704,662. That's how much taxpayer money may have gone to an Islamic charity allegedly linked to terror supporters. And the charity, Islamic Relief USA is also involved in helping resettle “refugees." That number comes from an important report by the Middle East Forum, a key counterterrorism think tank, and it involves a federal investigation into Islamic Relief USA, the Muslim charity in question, triggered by Ryan Mauro, the Director of the Clarion Intelligence Network, and a Shillman Fellow, and the Obama administration’s stand down order on the investigation. [more...]

Trouble Ahead for Johnson & Johnson
By Michelle Seiler-Tucker

Pharmaceutical giant Johnson & Johnson is facing an onslaught of lawsuits to add on to their list of financial issues, as small amounts of cancer-causing asbestos lurked in the company’s baby powder from as early as 1971. According to an investigation by Reuters, J&J hid incriminating information and reports from regulators and the public. The report indicates that small amounts of asbestos have been found in some of the company’s talc powder, the substance that makes baby powder powdery. The company allegedly did not openly communicate results and at times purposely covered up findings to both consumers and the Food and Drug Administration. J&J executives, mine managers, doctors, and lawyers from 1971 to the early 2000s were aware that the company's raw talc and finished powders sometimes tested positive for small amounts of asbestos yet failed to report to the public. [more...]

Life After the Affordable Care Act - What's Next?
By Dr. Elaina George

After the ruling by Judge O’Connor, the proponents of The Affordable Care Act plan to appeal the verdict. They are claiming that repeal will mean the end of coverage for patients who currently have plans, and that the repeal will mean the end of coverage for pre-existing conditions. Both are simply not correct.  What does repeal of the ACA really mean for the future of healthcare? [more...]

Shutting Down the Myth of a Government Shutdown
By Karen Kataline

Most of us who loathe the hubris of ever-growing government breathe a sigh of relief whenever politicians and bureaucrats take a holiday. Yet, they proceed with the narrative that we are more terrified of a shutdown than, say, allowing thousands of unvetted immigrants to storm our borders in violation of our immigration laws. By the way, if we demand that the caravans of illegals go back home, their organizers will be happy to honor our request if we pay them $50K a head. A shutdown shines a brighter light on how full of themselves the Deep State really is. They cry, “You can’t live without us!” Much of what they do is designed to bring about that very outcome. If we dare to think otherwise, they’ll really fix us and “threaten” to shut down the government. [more...]

So-Called Trump Campaign Finance Violations are a Fallacy
By James Hirsen

Democrat leaders and their allies in the media have momentarily dropped the Trump-Russia collusion narrative from their playbooks and are instead talking about purported campaign finance violations. In fact, some Democrats such as Rep. Jerrold Nadler, D-N.Y. are attempting to characterize their latest campaign finance meme as constituting an impeachable offense. To claim that the payments to adult film star Stormy Daniels and Playboy playmate Karen McDougal would be impeachable offenses, one would have to ignore both the law and historical practices. The Orwellian Lexicon of the Left
By Lowell Ponte

You might think we are approaching Christmas, but the left does everything it can to purge Christ from this holiday (which once meant “holy day”). Leftists tell me their immediate aim is to shorten this day’s name from “Christmas” to simply “Mas,” the Spanish word for “more.” Traditionalists will be permitted to call the day “Giftmas” or “Cashmas,” in keeping with the materialistic, fiat-money aspects that for many have replaced its religious nature. This is not to say that today’s leftists are godless; they worship the almighty state. And one of America’s most Democratic-ruled states, Illinois, days ago cheerfully erected a demonic statue, a gift from the Temple of Satan, in its statehouse. [more...]

Never Trumpers Who Accuse Trump of Being a Russian Spy are Funded by Backer of Russian Spy Site
By Daniel Greenfield

“Putin’s Party?” a Weekly Standard headline asked. It was the summer of 2016. Trump had won the nomination, but Bill Kristol, the most recognizable figure in the Never Trump camp, was laying out a case against him that rested heavily on Russia. "Honest and patriotic Republicans who support Trump," Kristol urged, should review the evidence of his "many troubling connections with Vladimir Putin's regime." These days, Kristol is using Defending Democracy Together, a 501c4 dark money organization of "conservatives and Republicans," to try and primary Trump. Components of DDT include, Republicans Against Putin and an analysis of Russian troll tweets. Beneath the concerns about national security and Russia, Kristol’s organization shares a funding source with a platform for the greatest Russian intel coup. [more...]

The 'Trump-Russia' Investigation Prosecuted by Criminals
By Karen Kataline

Robert Mueller and his crack team of Democrat-connected lawyers have spent two years charging a long list of people with crimes that have nothing to do Trump or Russia or collusion, though Trump has obviously been their target all along.  It has all been used strategically to create screaming headlines and to make the President appear to be guilty… of something. At precisely the same time, the Special Counsel has ignored fact after fact made public of massive corruption in the Clinton Campaign and the DNC for, you guessed it, collusion with Russia - and a whole lot more.  That would include money-laundering, pay to play schemes while Hillary was Secretary of State, like selling 20% of American Uranium to Russia (yes, Russia!) in exchange for massive donations into Clinton campaign coffers; maintaining a private e-mail server to cover all her illegal doings which in itself is a felony, and then destroying the evidence after it had been subpoenaed, another honking felony. Republicans Can Win in 2020 if They Step Up Their Game
By James Hirsen

After loads of liberal media gloom and doom regarding the fate of the GOP, it may be a surprise for some to hear that, despite the midterm election results, Republicans are in a good position to take the White House again, retake the House of Representatives, and maintain the Senate... that is, if they are able to focus on three key elements: voter data, party unity, and strategically significant issues. According to the hyperventilating panelists who appear on the left-leaning media news shows, President Trump and the Republican Party are in trouble. The recent court filings made by Special Counsel Robert Mueller concerning Paul Manafort and Michael Cohen have the talking heads sneering with delight at the prospect of more GOP misfortune. The lopsided media, though, is not presenting an accurate picture of the political playing field. [more...]

Would Dems Wreck America to Win in 2020?
By Lowell Ponte

“[The] way you get rid of Trump is a crashing economy. So, please, bring on the recession,” says leftist HBO comic Bill Maher. “Sorry if that hurts people ... [but] a recession is a survivable event; what Trump is doing to this country is not.” Actually, the country is better than it has been for decades. But Maher rightly understands that if Trump continues to succeed, the Democratic Party and its socialist boot on the necks of Americans will be finished. “You cannot be civil with a political party that wants to destroy what you stand for,” Hillary Clinton says, declaring that “civility can only return” when her Democratic Party again controls the government. Until voters restore leftist politicians to their entitled dominion as our superiors, the Democrats will turn politics into war, resistance, and unwavering hatred, because their unwanted collectivist party is fighting dirty for its survival. [more...]

Dems Inch Toward Government-Run Health Care
By Sally Pipes, President & CEO of the Pacific Research Institute

At the state level, Democrats are trying to resurrect one of Obamacare's least popular features, the individual mandate. Americans hated the mandate in part because it forced them to buy expensive plans on Obamacare's exchanges or pay a fine of the greater of $695 or 2.5 percent of income. From 2013 to 2017, average premiums doubled, according to the Department of Health and Human Services. Last year, Congress effectively repealed the mandate by zeroing out the fine for non-compliance. But as soon as the ink was dry, New Jersey and Washington, D.C., created their own state-level mandates. [more...]

Soros and the Media's Censorship Plot
By Daniel Greenfield

George Soros and his ilk want to regulate Facebook because they fear the power of populism. They see the media as a politically reliable entity pushing the public leftward while restraining blowback. The media wants to regulate Facebook because it offers too much scope for uncensored political dissent, but also because regulating its key distributor will lock in a business model that can assure its future. Facebook became the dog and the media the tail. The media dog wants Facebook to be its tail. [more...]

Caravan Supporters Insult Legal Immigrants
By Brigitte Gabriel

Another liberal college campus is making its voice heard in the ongoing and controversial immigration debate. Breitbart is reporting that the University of California Berkeley “student government voted to financially fund the migrant caravan in a resolution passed by the student senate” last week. The $1,500 in funds for the student organization Central Americans For Empowerment will help with migrants’ “legal fees and health services.” Besides disrespecting the rule of law and the protection of borders, these students and other migrant caravan supporters like them are disgracing and insulting every legal immigrant who became a citizen of the United States through a lawful process. A member of America’s legal immigrant family is New York Times best-selling author Brigitte Gabriel, who in her latest book, RISE: In Defense of Judeo-Christian Values and Freedom,” writes extensively about how immigration policies are fundamentally changing the nation.

Tariffs are Working
By Jeff Ferry

Since January, the Trump administration has implemented five major tariff policies, on the solar panel, washing machine, steel, and aluminum industries, as well as the so-called Section 301 tariffs affecting $250 billion worth of Chinese imports, chiefly in intermediate manufactured goods. And so far, the evidence is that the tariffs are working. Economic growth is up, inflation is under control, many of the tariffed industries are enjoying strong recoveries in output, profits, and employment. And as optimism spreads across manufacturing, other manufacturing sectors are also enjoying better growth than they’ve seen in years. There is such a constant onslaught of criticism of tariffs, and “warnings” about how they will damage the U.S. and world economy that I can’t blame anybody for believing tariffs are bad. But the truth is that if you look at the evidence, tariffs are contributing to the growth of our economy this year. [more...]

President Trump is Fighting the War on Waste
By Adam Andrzejewski, Author of Operation Drain the Swamp

Just a few weeks ago, we ran a two-page ad in the Wall Street Journal and USA Today urging the President to wage a war on waste. We asked him to do three things: 1. Post all White House expenditures online; 2. Cut agency waste by 5%; and 3. Report progress to the public. President Trump is listening to our demands. Just 28 days after our open letter published, the president ordered his agency heads to cut the fat and put an end to the fraud, waste, and abuse. This is a massive victory in our war on waste. Alaska and America's Fragile Foothold
By Lowell Ponte

The great earthquake on Friday struck just north of Anchorage at 8:30 a.m., with dawn more than an hour away. Its magnitude 7.2 tremor lasted only 30 seconds but triggered more than 190 aftershocks as large as magnitude 5.8 over the next 24 hours. The quake swarm damaged buildings, cut off electricity to thousands, and tore roads apart; but according to early reports it miraculously neither killed nor severely injured anyone. A large earthquake is an awe-inspiring experience; it shows you how the material things we trade years of our lives for, such as a home, can be shaken to pieces in an instant. It teaches you how to survive in a land where the very earth you stand upon is not reliably stable. [more...]

Michelle Obama is NOT Running for President
By Karen Kataline

The former First Lady made headlines recently when she declared once again that she’s not running for president. She explained it this way: “My path has never been politics,” she said. “I just happened to marry somebody whose passion was politics. Just because he likes it doesn’t mean that I like it!” I found that curious since she has also said, “any woman who voted against Hillary Clinton voted against their own voice.” Like many of today’s socialist elites, Mrs. Obama reserves certain rights for herself that she can’t imagine allowing for others. Christmas Past, Present and Future
By James Hirsen

For centuries Christmastime in America was widely recognized as a special season of joy, filled with festive celebrations, heartfelt gift-giving, and, of course, transcendent music that conveyed the faith of so many of our nation’s people. Unfortunately, what has transpired over the last few decades is a rise of suppression of Christian expression, which has become most evident during the time leading up to this brightest of holidays. Michelle Obama - 'I'm Independent, You're Not'
By Karen Kataline

Michelle Obama has been on a celebrated book tour.  Unlike Bill and Hillary Clinton, who are speaking to houses that are 83% empty, Mrs. Obama has been speaking to sellout crowds. Orchestra seats for Mrs. Obama’s “Becoming” tour are going for $3000.00 a pop. The former First Lady made headlines recently when she declared once again that she’s not running for president. Muslim Migrants Terrorize a Sleepy German College Town
By Daniel Greenfield

29. That’s how many crimes one single Syrian migrant had allegedly committed since entering Germany four years ago. He had already been wanted for drug trafficking and had been investigated for a rape last year. And then he struck again, this time in a case that has once again torn apart a sleepy college town. Freiburg is a German city of 226,000 people. Foreigners make up 36,800 or 16% of the population. Of the foreigners in Freiburg, whose name means fortified city of free people, 18,750 or 8.5% are men. Even though foreigners are only a small percentage of the population, they commit 42% of the crimes. [more...]

GM Suffers Massive Layoffs
By Michelle Seiler-Tucker

General Motors announced Monday that it will close five factories, lay off nearly 15,000 or 15 percent of its salaried workers, and shut down five plants in North America. These cuts break down to around 8,000 white-collar workers, and 5,000 factory workers. GM is the leading enterprise in car manufacturing along with other productions. This news comes after the fear of tariffs and dealing with unknown market changes have seen the auto industry's raw-material costs for steel and aluminum skyrocket, costing the company over $1 billion this year alone. [more...]
