DirecTV's decision to drop Newsmax was "purely" political. I disagree with the narrative that the satellite network dropping Newsmax was a business decision. President Trump launches his campaign on Sunday, and the Tuesday before midnight, [DirecTV takes] Newsmax off the air. This is obviously political, and to dress it up as a commercial decision, it's ludicrous. New Gun Regulation Handicaps the Disabled

The Biden administration’s newly released regulations regarding "pistol-stabilizing braces" will instantly turn tens of thousands of law-abiding Americans into felons and create a national rifle registry. But the Biden administration and the media exaggerate the costs and ignore the benefits these braces produce. Few seem to realize that stabilizing braces for pistols were originally designed to allow wounded and disabled veterans who may have lost the use of part of their hand to hold handguns. They are essentially a strap attached to the gun. Disabled individuals are often viewed as easy targets by criminals, and stabilizers make it easier to defend themselves. Why Preserve the Reconciliation Monument in Arlington Cemetery?

Memphis Cops May Have Been Affirmative Action Hires

Loosening the required qualifications means that the department is ultimately getting "less desirable" job candidates. What's Behind DirecTV's Censorship of Newsmax?

DirecTV just recently removed Newsmax from its channel lineup. It was less than a year ago that the AT&T-owned media outlet deplatformed One America News (OAN), another digital news source that offers folks a more balanced option to the far-left fare that overwhelmingly dominates the current media ethersphere. The selective decision by corporate heads appears to have been highly politically motivated, since a host of channels that are filled with radical-left programming are still readily available to DirecTV users, even though viewing audiences remain in short supply. Newsmax, on the other hand, ranks as the fourth highest-rated cable news channel in the nation. But now the more than 15 million customers of DirecTV, DirecTV Stream, and U-Verse are no longer able to access Newsmax’s alternative to the knee-jerk liberal content that appears on almost all of the other news and information channels. [more...]

CENSORSHIP: AT&T's DirecTV cut Newsmax's signal

Last week, AT&T's DirecTV cut Newsmax's signal, immediately shutting the network off from more than 13 million customers of the satellite service, DirecTV Stream, and U-Verse.  NewsmaxTV is the only station that carries Trump rallies, so they’re basically blanking him out before the 2024 election.

This is the second time in the past year AT&T has moved to cancel a conservative channel, with DirecTV deplatforming OAN in April.

"This is a blatant act of political discrimination and censorship against Newsmax," Christopher Ruddy, CEO of Newsmax, said.

Despite Newsmax being the 4th highest-rated cable news channel in the nation, a top 20 cable news channel overall, and watched by 25 million Americans on cable alone, according to Nielsen, DirecTV said it was taking the step as a "cost-cutting" measure and would never pay Newsmax a cable license fee.

DirecTV pays cable license fees to all top 75 cable channels and to all 22 liberal news channels it carries.

Almost all of these channels are paid hefty license fees significantly greater than Newsmax was seeking — and despite the fact that most of the channels have far lower ratings than Newsmax.

"The most extreme liberal channels, even with tiny ratings, get fees from AT&T's DirecTV, but [in their view] Newsmax and OAN need to be deplatformed," Ruddy said.

Newsmax Statement

AT&T DirecTV’s de-platforming of Newsmax is the second conservative channel to be cancelled in the past year.

DirecTV believes Newsmax should receive ZERO cable fees, even though it is the 4 highest-rated cable news channel in the nation, according to Nielsen. Newsmax is also a top 16th ranked channel for all of cable in daytime.

DirecTV carries 22 liberal or liberal-leaning channels, all of whom get fees. DirecTV believes only one conservative channel should get a fee.

"This is a blatant act of political discrimination and censorship against Newsmax," Christopher Ruddy, CEO of Newsmax Media, said. "The most extreme liberal channels, even with tiny ratings, get fees from AT&T's DirecTV, but Newsmax and OAN needed to be de-platformed," Ruddy added.

Background Information:

1. Newsmax was a free site before this renewal as many networks are free upon launch. Fox News paid operators to launch in the 1990s. Our current agreement with DirecTV makes provisions for a rate upon renewal.

2. Last year Newsmax had 3 major renewals up, all agreed to Newsmax’s rate. These were DISH, Verizon and NCTC.

3. Newsmax is seeking a modest fee, 75% discounted to our market rate.

4. DirecTV is not losing money. They made a $2.7 billion in profit last year.

5. Of the top 75 channels, Newsmax has higher ratings than more than 50 channels, and almost all of these channels get higher fees than Newsmax was asking for despite their lower ratings.

6. Newsmax’s free stream ends in 2023. We never require any operator, including DirecTV, to pay us a fee while the channel streams free. DirecTV is well aware of this and continues to give the press false information.

7. Vice gets full carriage and license fees from DirecTV. TPG, the operator and 30% owner of DirecTV, is a major investor in Vice. Vice has tiny ratings, 20% of Newsmax’s, but is currently getting fees comparable to what Newsmax is seeking.

These good Samaritans saving the day would make gripping stories, but we don’t see much news on these cases. David Horowitz: The Hard Truth About January 6

The under-manned force was unable to set up a defensive perimeter around the building, which is why there is extensive video footage showing Capitol police officers escorting demonstrators into the building.

The January 6th protest was milder than any of the hundreds of Black Lives Matter riots the summer before and led to no serious destruction of Capitol artifacts. But the Democrats en masse pretended to be horrified. They denounced the protest as an "armed insurrection" and compared it to Pearl Harbor and 9/11 and other enemy attacks on the United States which resulted in thousands of deaths.

When it was pointed out that no arms were found on the protesters, the Democrats simply dropped the term "armed” but still referred to the demonstration as an "insurrection” – i.e., treason. They made no effort to explain how one could mount an insurrection without arms. Obviously, one can’t. Nonetheless, they accused Trump of inciting the "insurrection” even though no Trump sentence could be twisted enough to substantiate the charge. Democrats condemned him and attempted to prosecute him and even consign him to public oblivion. They passed resolutions seeking to bar him from public office, also saying that no public building or monument should bear his name - not even "a park bench.”

To seal their indictment, they claimed that five Capitol police officers were killed during the protest. The actual number was zero. Two years later, Joe Biden and Hakeem Jeffries were making the same false claim. They even created a poster-boy to support their lie, claiming that Capitol Police Officer Brian Sicknick, was killed by a blow to the head from a fire extinguisher wielded by a protester during the January 6th event. In fact, no such incident occurred. Sicknick died on January 7th in his bed at home from natural causes.

Officer Sicknick was actually an ardent Trump supporter. This didn’t prevent the Democrats from staging a Potemkin-style funeral, bestowing the honor on Sicknick’s corpse of lying in state in the Capitol Rotunda while Democrat leaders praised and mourned him as a martyr killed by Trumpian insurrectionists while defending the Capitol.

Only one person was killed on January 6th – Ashli Babbitt – a forty-year-old five-foot tall, unarmed woman and 14-year Air Force veteran. She can be seen on videotape standing among several Capitol Police officers threatening no one, when an outstretched arm holding a firearm is also seen on the same tape taking aim at Ashli and murdering her in cold blood. The officer who pulled the trigger that ended Ashli Babbitt’s life was Officer Michael Byrd who had a history of mishandling firearms. Nancy Pelosi immediately stepped in and withheld his identity for a month, then quashed any investigation, made him a free man, and gave him a medal for defending the Capitol. Technically speaking, that would make Pelosi an accomplice to murder if Michael Byrd were tried and convicted in a court of law. But it also implicates the January 6th Committee and the Democrat leadership who knew the facts in the case but chose to suppress them.

This is what one expects from a fascist state, not a constitutional democracy. It is a lesson ignored at our peril in revealing the criminal determination of the Democrat Party to establish a one-party state at whatever the cost, and to demonize, intimidate and suppress any opposition that stands in their way, by any means necessary.

Murders are Becoming Even More Concentrated in a Handful of Urban Counties

New report argues 'murder isn’t a nationwide problem,' it's a problem in 'small set of urban areas'.

Murders in the U.S. are becoming increasingly concentrated in densely populated urban centers in just a handful of counties, according to a newly released report. Some 73% of all murders in the U.S. took place in just 5% of counties while 52% of all counties reported no murders at all, according to a Crime Prevention Research Center study published this week. MSNBC ushered in Thanksgiving to its viewers by claiming that the holiday and the nation were built on genocide. "We are a country founded on violence. Our birth was violent," MSNBC's Joy Reid declared. It was another hateful lie about our country from a 24/7 hate network built on lies. America was not founded on violence, but on a revolutionary proclamation that all men are created equal and have a God-given right to liberty. Supply Chain Dependence Makes Reshoring Harder

Reshoring and "near-shoring" American supply chains out of Asia (namely, China) will be difficult due to the massive dependency on offshored manufacturers, a new McKinsey Global Institute report says. Importing economies rely on three or fewer nations for their main share of global trade. The U.S. imports primarily from China, Mexico, Canada, and Europe, but China sells us more goods than all three – which are more concentrated on commodities, autos, and pharmaceuticals. Since the Trump era on trade began in earnest in 2016 and continues to this day, the U.S. economy has not systematically diversified its origins of imports, according to the McKinsey report titled The Complication of Concentration in Global Trade. [more...]

The Power and Freedom of Always Remembering Our American Shadow

Big government, big pharma, big tech, big media, big military and big business stray far from simply being individuals who care for us personally. They shall always remain dangerous as they scale in size and must always be monitored and kept in check. This is exactly what our founders set America up to do. If we deny the hard truth that man is flawed and thereby must be contained not by government but more deeply controlled by ethics, faith, and family, then we shall live in some kind of fantastical place of blind wishery. This is something that government alone simply cannot do in its inherently homogenizing blanket approach that must also slightly deaden our free souls first to control them later. As the famous psychologist Carl Jung warned so well, “Unfortunately, there can be no doubt that man is, overall, less good than he imagines himself or wants to be. Everyone carries a shadow, and the less it is embodied in the individual’s conscious life, the blacker and denser it is. At all counts, it forms an unconscious snag, thwarting our most well-meant intentions." As one can see, in the words of Carl Jung, it is dangerous for America to deny her own shadow.

A Response to the Media on Brazil

Although one wouldn’t know it from the media coverage of gun control, the best social science has shown that law-abiding citizens frequently deter criminals. But when ideology trumps facts, policymakers are easily led astray. The latest example is occurring in Brazil, where massive increase in gun ownership in recent years has prompted gun control advocates to reinterpret the data in ways that conform to their political views. In his first act in office last Sunday, newly installed President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva signed a decree freezing gun ownership and banning the sale of new ammunition. Lula also instituted other rules aimed at taking away the guns people acquired during the President Jair Bolsonaro administration.

Brazil's experiment in legal gun ownership is just the latest example of "more guns, less crime." Violent crime fell as criminals became afraid of armed citizens. But don't hold your breath for any news media outlets or gun control groups to admit they were wrong. [more...]

How the 118th U.S. Congress Could Deliver Lasting Results

Second, investigate government malfeasance and violations of American citizens' Constitutional rights for the purpose of cleaning up government by recommending and pursuing penalties, prosecutions, and impeachments. It is time to hold accountable elected and appointed officials who failed to uphold their oath of office. Biden Admin - Jews Visiting Holy Site is "Unacceptable"

How do you make apartheid sound good? Just call it the "historic status quo."

Under Muslim rule, the historic status quo by the invaders was to ban Jews from their own holiest site, the Temple Mount. When Jerusalem was liberated, there was a vocal insistence by the Muslims who had launched a war to destroy the Jewish State and by the "international community" that Jews continue to be barred from their own holy site in the name of the "historic status quo." "There is no fun in Islam," once declared the Ayatollah Khomenei, whose stern visage glowered down from posters plastered all over Iran after the 1979 revolution, as if daring anyone to crack a smile. The same could be said for today’s Progressivism which, like Islamic fundamentalism, is a totalitarian ideology. And today’s Democrats, like the Iranian mullahs, simply can't take a joke. They can't afford to, since successful totalitarianism depends on the total control of every aspect of people's lives, even – perhaps especially – their thoughts. If they were hoping for computers to be their best buddies, they might be disappointed in the computer engineer’s answer.

What's the missing element in artificial intelligence? To make it sentient. To make it innovative too. The premise of my book is that it will never be there. There are certain things which are non-computable. This goes back to the genius Alan Turing in the 1930s. Now, Turing is probably best known for helping crack the Enigma code that helped win World War II for the Nazi codes. But he was also a mathematical genius. And as the father of computer science, he was able to prove back in the 1930s that there were things which were non-computable. [more...]
