'Boycott Best Buy'
Movement Takes Off
By Ryan Mauro
A
former Marine who served in Beirut in 1982-1983 and Iraq in 2003 looks into the
camera and declares, "On behalf of myself and my family, we will no longer
conduct business at Best Buy." He cuts his card in half. The Marine joined
over 8,000 others who have signed a petition to boycott Best Buy over the
company’s financial support for the Council on American-Islamic Relations
(CAIR), a group tied to the Muslim Brotherhood and Hamas. [more...]
What I Told Students at Harvard about Capitalism
As a lifelong capitalist, entrepreneur, and Reagan
Libertarian, I was recently asked to deliver a lecture about the virtues of
capitalism, entrepreneurship and fiscal conservatism at Harvard University. The
lesson is that if capitalism and entrepreneurship are presented with enthusiasm,
passion, energy, and honest personal stories, they will be accepted and
celebrated everywhere in the world - even the intellectual, liberal halls of
Harvard. The key is to counter the message delivered by President Obama, who
spoke recently at a university in Florida and described capitalism as “a broken
down theory," blaming it for our current economic problems. [more...]
The Obama-Clooney
Campaign Finance Ploy
By
James Hirsen
President
Obama’s upcoming fundraising event with George Clooney is shaping up to be one
for the record books. On May 10, the 150 guests who are slated to show up at
Clooney’s home are expected to drop $6 million into the president’s campaign
war chest, all to try and keep the keys to the White House in Obama’s hands for
another four years. In an effort to really ramp up the cash flow, though, the
Obama campaign has come up with a gimmick crafted to squeeze some money out of
lower income folks and perhaps even unemployed ninety-nine percenters. [more...]
Will Biden Be Obama's
Veep Pick a Second Time?
By
Steve Gill
While speculation is already
running rampant about the VP nominee that will join Mitt Romney on the GOP
ticket, there is an increasing buzz just below the surface about whether Obama
will also be making a Veep pick as he tries to keep the White House for a
second term. Vice President Joe Biden is apparently not being included in the
top level campaign strategy sessions. If he and Secretary Hillary Clinton were
to switch things up, with Hillary on the ticket and Biden moving to State, then
Biden would be on the outside looking in when it comes to the Obama reelection
campaign structure... so there is no need to include him in the strategy
development, right? [more...]
France Votes for
Socialist, Engages Obama-topian Fantasy
France
made the decision to remove more conservative leaning incumbent President
Nicholas Sarkozy and replace him with the Socialist Francois Hollande. With the
vote, which went 52%-48% in favor of Hollande, France has decided to vote for
someone who wishes to tax income over one million euros at a 75% rate. On the
eve of the election, the Financial Times
posted an article that shows what every non-Socialist in the world has been
saying: if we can’t make a living, we won’t stay. [more...]
Human Rights Gone
Amuck under the Obama Administration
By

N. Stern, Founder and
President of the Endowment
for Middle East Truth (EMET)
It
was fortunate for the blind Chinese dissident, Chen Gaungcheng, that there was
a great deal of media exposure and publicity surrounding his ordeal. The drama
of having a blind person escape the Chinese authorities when the Secretary of
State was due to have arrived in China was not to be missed. He and his family
might have just been given a "Hail Mary Pass," thanks to his
opportunity to study in the United States. But the thousands of anonymous
Syrians slaughtered at the hands of Bashir Assad were not so lucky. Bashir Assad
is the only Iranian ally in the Sunni Arab world. So the true winner in all of
this is the Islamic Republic of Iran. [more...]
