Playing Politics Can Be Hazardous to Your Health

Proponents of the Affordable Care Act are getting exactly what they wanted. They have declared victory because of the decrease in health care costs. What they fail to mention is the reason there has been a decrease is because people can’t afford to use their insurance due to high out of pocket costs. In this election season it is imperative to remember those who voted for this disaster without having read the bill; those who demonized people who raised valid questions about access to care, costs and rationing; and those who cried racism when valid points were raised about how the quality of care would necessarily drop because there was never enough money to subsidize a substantial number of the 30 million newly insured people. Those on Medicare need to remember that over 700 million dollars was taken from money that would have been used for their care to set up the unwieldy bureaucracy that is the underpinning of Obamacare. How the President Could Save the Democrats – and Himself

Even now, with the election only days away, President Obama has it in his power to save his Democratic Party from losing control of the U.S. Senate – and save his all-but-destroyed legacy as president. In one 15-minute speech, he can restore confidence in America's stagnant economy and send the stock market skyrocketing upward by several thousand points. Within minutes he can trigger a tidal wave of new hiring, reverse the flood of businesses taking their jobs and profits overseas, and renew America’s spirit of optimism and well-being. Mr. Obama can instantly restore worldwide confidence in America's global leadership and have ISIS and other enemies scurrying for cover, ready to replace their black flag of terror with a white flag of surrender. How? [more...]

U.S.-Israel Relationship in Crisis

The Obama administration's contemptible hostility towards Israel has descended into the proverbial cellar.  According to an October 28th article appearing in The Atlantic by Jeffrey Goldberg, a high-level Obama administration official has recently added "chickensh*t" to other derisive terms used in ad hominem verbal attacks on Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, such as "recalcitrant, myopic, reactionary, obtuse, blustering, pompous, and 'Aspergery.'" Prime Minister Netanyahu responded to the latest diatribe in his remarks to the Knesset on October 29th that "I am being attacked because I am willing to defend the State of Israel." [more...]

Vegas Oddsmaker Predicts GOP Landslide for Midterm Elections

I publicly made the prediction of a GOP landslide forming weeks ago on hundreds of radio shows and numerous popular conservative Web sites. Because of the Obamacare disaster (massive rate increases and millions of cancellation notices coming for middle class America), I predicted a historic loss for Obama and the Democrats. That was before Ebola (and Obama's mishandling of the healthcare crisis) became the biggest story in the news. How bad will the coming election results be for Obama and the Democrats? The GOP is on the cusp of a landslide similar to the one I predicted publicly in 2010. Back then, I predicted the GOP would win 50 to 60 Congressional seats. The experts said I was out of my mind. The GOP won 63 seats. [more...]

Sorry, Socialists and Progressives... Businesses Do Create Jobs

If you believe at least one public figure, corporations and businesses don't create jobs.  I'm sorry, socialists and progressives, but businesses do create jobs!  Please look at the empirical evidence, the economic data, the economic theory that supports a mountain of evidence to the contrary.  No government in the history of the world has ever created economic wealth. As I discuss in my new book, Renewing America and Its Heritage of Freedom: What Freedom-Loving Americans Can Do to Help, economic wealth, growth and prosperity all start in the private sector when individuals with initiative, hard work and sweat equity - and sometimes some outside capital from angels, friends and family, and investors - build new businesses.  These new businesses, in order to grow and to meet the needs of consumers and others, need lots of new workers.  In this process, new jobs are created, people get hired and wealth is created. Who is Handling Our Ballots?

What if our elections were unionized, with ballots handled out of the sight of poll-watchers by members of an AFL-CIO union that is a major Democratic Party campaign contributor? Such unionization of voting is already the law in three states — Oregon, Washington State, and, beginning with this November's election, Colorado, where a close race might determine whether Republicans or Democrats control the U.S. Senate. In another 27 states that allow no-excuse absentee voting by mail, union members handle up to 25 percent of all ballots cast. These 27 states include eight this year where who wins could decide Senate control. The private handling of ballots by unionized letter carriers adds the risk that your vote never gets delivered. At least this final corruption might be deterred if election clerks e-mail or telephone those whose requested absentee ballots are not received. Any pattern of missing ballots might suggest which letter carriers failed to deliver absentee ballots, and this might help get such vote robbers fired and jailed. [more...]

Battling Polarization in Politics

In the San Francisco Bay Area, where trans-everything is popular, a new political movement is taking form: transpartisanship. From Van Jones, Ralph Nader, and Joan Blades on the left, to Newt Gingrich, Grover Norquist and George Shultz on the right, advocates from both sides of the political divide are gathering in the Bay area, exploring ways to combine forces and break the polarization and demonization that gridlocks the political process. [more...]

Where in the World is Obama?

Where in the world is Obama? The President of the United States appears to be AWOL. Obama is so invisible, it’s likely no one would notice if he’d been kidnapped. The real question is, would the Secret Service even notice? It’s Fall. That means political campaign time. Congress is up for re-election. This is always when presidents are crisscrossing the nation campaigning full-time for their candidates. But something strange is happening this year. There’s no president in sight. Obama is so invisible, there are rumors he’s in the witness protection program. [more...]

Ray Rice Wants to Play Nice Again

The NFL has had quite a few controversial incidents this year, and a new development suggests that the worst of the NFL's legal issues is not quite over yet. Former Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice is scheduled to have his appeal heard during the first week of November.  And reality is that the appeal could very well lead to Rice's reinstatement. Why? Well, because in 2011, the NFL Collective Bargaining Agreement was established, which states that the league only has the right to suspend a player once per off-field, personal conduct violation. 'Exodus' Star Christian Bale Brands Moses as 'Schizophrenic' and 'Barbaric'

One of the most highly anticipated and ambitious faith-related films of modern times arrives in theaters this December. The movie, titled "Exodus: Gods and Kings," has the potential to become a massive box-office hit. While speaking to a group of reporters at the Four Seasons Hotel in Los Angeles, Bale appeared to be talking about a different Moses than the venerated one of the Scriptures. "I think the man was likely schizophrenic and was one of the most barbaric individuals that I ever read about in my life," Bale said. [more...]

What's More Toxic to America - Ebola or Obama?

No one knows yet how much damage Ebola can do to America. On the other hand, we have already experienced the damage, destruction and pain of President Barack Obama. Let's compare Ebola to Obama. Add it up. Ebola is a terrible threat. But so far, it is only a threat. Obama is toxic; he has had a devastating effect upon America’s economy, healthcare system, national interests and reputation across the globe. Ebola might give us a punch in gut. Obama could be fatal. [more...]

GOP Will Win a Big but Undeserved Victory

With eight days to go before these crucial midterm elections some things are already clear.  Oh, to be a fly on the wall at that first Senate GOP conference, when the doors are closed and the 54 newly sworn-in GOP senators sit down with each other for the first time to map out their 2015 agenda. That meeting - and what comes from it - will be more contentious and more divisive than any fights Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) have ever had. There is No Voter Fraud... Honest

If you want to see someone on the progressive left blow a gasket, talk about voter fraud. They will all tell you that it doesn't exist or it's so small it's immeasurable. Ebola Strategy Revealed

Americans should be very concerned about the potential for an Ebola epidemic, especially in light of the Obama Administration’s inaction to protect the American people! It is absolutely unconscionable that arguably the most powerful leader in the world has done absolutely nothing to protect the American people from further infiltration of the Ebola virus into the United States from abroad. Americans should be outraged that his stance has continued to be one of worldwide social justice instead of honoring his presidential oath. While the government's Ebola response is slammed, according to this article the President claimed that, “It was his job to make sure Americans were taken care of, he said he had a larger role.” What could be larger than doing his job to secure the borders and obey his oath of office? According to Obama, it’s "Making sure that Africans, particularly children and their families, are safe." Apparently, the President wants us to believe his intentions are noble when, in fact, they are political. [more...]

Tennessee School Board Slams Common Core

The Williamson County school board wants to make it clear: they don't like the Common Core national standards initiative. The Tennessean notes the original wording stated that the board "stands opposed to Common Core-derived standards and in favor of educational standards and decision-making being driven by local control of the education process." That wording was amended to read the board "stands in support of locally derived educational standards and decision making." [more...]

His Chickens are Coming Home to Roost

We have an election coming up and once again the president is doing damage control on the "smoking gun" issues to save his party's butt. The Bergdahl report is done, but it won't be released until after the election. Obamacare premiums - the new ones, the real ones - won't be published until after the election. His choice for Attorney General, interestingly enough, though he has one in mind, won't be released until after the election. Can we please explain to this president the real meaning of "transparency?" [more...]

"President Obama, You're Fired!"

The past few months have shown more than ever that America elected a campaigner instead of a commander. President Obama is all talk and no action. His passivity is sickening and frustrating. He doesn't even seem overwhelmed by his responsibilities as President – he seems disinterested in them. Granted, 2014 has been a year full of troubles and tribulations that he is incapable and unwilling to solve, but if President Obama were working in corporate America, he'd have been fired by now. The man has not kept many of his promises.  If someone hires you or me to do a job but after an allotted amount of time, the job we had been hired to do isn't done, then our employer should fire us. Be a man, Mr. President, and just do something for once. [more...]

Pondering the Wreckage from the Latest Gaza War

As President Obama proceeds with his courtship of "moderate Arab governments" for active roles in his anti-ISIS coalition, he is again ringing the changes on the long-disproved notion that a more hostile American posture towards Israel is needed in order to smooth the path towards ultimate peace in the Middle East. Again, President Obama and his team are screaming that Israel's government is poisoning the wells of diplomacy by building more housing for all of its citizens - Arabs Jews and others - in areas that the PLO insists have belonged exclusively to Arabs since time immemorial. Once again we are being told that surrender by Israel of its position on this and other disputed matters will win goodwill for Israel – that this goodwill will radiate in all directions, smoothing the way to solution of all the differences between Israel and its neighbors. In due course, as Israel surrenders her narrow Zionist vision in favor of grander possibilities, throughout the Arab world the grievances upon which ISIS feeds will be removed or vastly mitigated in the minds of all clear-thinking denizens of the region and the spirit of accommodation will reign. Public Worry over Remote Threats

The breathless news coverage of the miniscule number of people in the United States that have so far contracted the Ebola virus has led to a typical irrational response in some quarters. For example, schools have been closed, and the public and thus some politicians support a travel ban of people from the affected West African countries, even though health professionals have said that this "solution" might make things worse. Despite such professionals repeating often that Ebola is inefficiently transmitted, that West Africa has a much lower level of general health care than does the United States, and that therefore the American problem is likely to be only contagion among the health workers tending to the very small number of victims rather than in the general population, many people are still nervous that they or their family will catch the virus. Ebola Could Be Economic Catastrophe

The medical implications of Ebola are being covered by the news media every second of every day. But it's the economic implications that I fear are far more deadly. Ebola could turn into an unprecedented deathblow to the U.S. economy, even if very few Americans ever die from it. I might have been the first columnist to write of the danger for Ebola to cause catastrophic damage to the U.S. economy back on September 4th, predicting it could shut down commerce and cause a stock market crash. Ebola, Obamacare, and the Freedom of Living in Peace and Security

As I discuss in my new book, Renewing America and Its Heritage of Freedom: What Freedom-Loving Americans Can Do to Help, there are 25 essential components of freedom necessary to have a completely free nation.  One of the 25 essential components is the freedom of living in peace and security.  Americans are not living in peace and security today, knowing that several major diseases might infect themselves and their family members, as well as knowing that their healthcare insurance premiums, co-payments, access to doctors and hospitals, and the availability of medications, procedures, and protocols are all threatened by Obamacare. Obama Really Did Appoint a Political Beneficiary - Not a Doctor - as Ebola Czar

In the past, the White House had said a czar was not necessary, but now they have retracted that statement after being criticized that U.S. hospitals are not equipped to handle an epidemic such as this. The U.S. government has failed again and again to properly assess this situation and to make adequate and effective decisions that produce positive results in regards to the Ebola epidemic overseas.  Obama appears to be a casual observer and a good talker whose lack of action speaks volumes louder than his words for educated individuals. The man says the U.S. does not need an Ebola czar; but now that he has been forced to do his research, he is finally facing the facts and has finally caved in to the pressure by naming a political supporter of his as the Ebola czar. Hollywood Plans TV Series to Capitalize on Ebola Crisis

As anxiety over Ebola intensifies, some big names in Hollywood are looking to profit from the public angst. According to The Hollywood Reporter, a television series that weaves the deadly Ebola pathogen into its plot is soon to come.

The series will be an update of the 1994 book written by Richard Preston titled "The Hot Zone." Veteran film director Ridley Scott, best known for "Alien," "Blade Runner," "Thelma & Louise," "Gladiator," and the upcoming "Exodus Gods and Kings," is attached to the project along with Lynda Obst, producer of the film "Sleepless in Seattle." Scott will also soon be directing "Killing Jesus" for the National Geographic Channel, a project that will be based on Bill O’Reilly’s best-selling book of the same name. [more...]

Obama's Cloward-Piven Weapon of Mass Destruction

I am Barack Obama's classmate at Columbia University, Class of '83. We were taught a plan back then to collapse the U.S. economy and destroy this country. It was called "Cloward-Piven" (named after a husband and wife professor team at Columbia). This plan involved using spending, entitlements, debt and crisis after crisis to overwhelm the system, distract the citizens, and cause the collapse of America. At that point, the people would be on their knees begging for big government to save them from drowning. They'd willingly accept a socialist nanny state without argument or debate under duress. People agree to all kinds of terrible things while their lives and survival hangs in the balance. Panic causes bad decision-making. That's the key: panic and duress. With your job and income gone, or facing a massive 9-11-like terrorist attack, or devastating Ebola pandemic, the country is in a panic. "Cloward-Piven" counted on the citizenry making a very bad decision under duress - choosing the very group (government) that destroyed your life as your savior. [more...]

Why Have Marriage Rates Hit a New All-Time Low?

The percentage of U. S. adults who have never been married hit a new, all-time low.  Compare the numbers from 1960 with the latest available data in 2012.  Back in 1960, about 10% of adults over age 25 had never been married.  In 2012, in sharp contrast, about 20% of adults over the age of 25 had never been married.  That's an incredible doubling of over 25 never married individuals percentages. Can we expect this cultural trend to continue?  The answer is probably - unless there is a significant change in the American culture. What are possible causes of this dramatic shift away from marriage? Read more in my new book: Renewing America and Its Heritage of Freedom: What Freedom-Loving Americans Can Do to Help. [more...]

State Rep - Common Core Repeal a 'Matter of Time'

If you ask Ohio State Rep. Matt Huffman, the death of Common Core is not a question of if, but when. "People are saying we are being conspirators," Huffman said. "We are not, we are just looking at facts." He added, "We need to realize we are a very diverse country. Things are not going to be the same in Van Wert as they are in Miami, Florida." [Watch the video here...]

Ebola is Everyone's Problem

Worrying and fear are crippling and useless states of thinking and are destructive, especially in situations such as the Ebola outbreak. What is required in this health crisis is action. Everyone must act, not just officials in charge of stopping this disease from spreading. We must each be responsible for our own health and be mindful of our daily actions. That’s one reason why the virus has gotten so severe. No one was educated about the disease, and people weren’t doing anything about it for the longest time. If the Ebola virus had been treated as a business problem, it would already be solved and thousands saved from suffering. Unfortunately, when money is not involved and no one benefits (let alone risks their own life) it is harder to find ways to motivate people to solve problems that they do not consider their own; but this problem is everyone’s problem. It's Time to Remove Obama from Office - Before He Gets Us All Killed

Mr. President, it's time to tell the truth about Ebola. It is far easier to become infected than doctors or health experts are telling us. We are told becoming infected is an extremely remote possibility. Really? An NBC cameraman got Ebola without ever touching a sick patient or entering the room of an Ebola victim. A nurse in Dallas got Ebola while wearing heavy protective gear. Over 200 doctors and nurses in Africa are dead despite wearing protective gear, washing hands with bleach, and knowing exactly what they were dealing with. Still, they are powerless to stop it. My book, The Murder of the Middle Class, focuses on economic murder. Ebola is the embodiment of this murder. An Ebola pandemic will kill thousands, if not hundreds of thousands of Americans. But separate from the human tragedy, the economic cost will overwhelm and bankrupt our country. [more...]

Apocalyptic Themes in Films Reflect Tumultuous Times

A good amount of the entertainment content of late has been dealing with some type of apocalypse, in other words, an end to human civilization as we know it. The end of the world is a theme that has been finding its way into numerous modes of entertainment and a wide variety of genres. AMC's "The Walking Dead," which features an apocalypse of the zombie kind, is consistently at or near the top of the television ratings, including broadcast, cable, and streaming. The big-screen release "World War Z" followed the cinematic formula. No one knows when the world will come to an end. And although TV shows and movies may not always be the most accurate predictors, it wouldn’t hurt to be prepared - intellectually, emotionally, and even spiritually. [more...]

Are You a 'Purple Penguin?'

It seems a Nebraska school district is instructing its teachers not to use the terms "boys and girls," "ladies and gentlemen," "you guys," ...well, you get the idea. Why? Because they don't include gender non-confirming terminology which causes confusion for those few children who don't identify with any specific gender. Simply put, it's just not inclusive of all. To make sure that we include everyone and no one feels slighted, they have decided the proper inclusive terminology for young kids is to call them "purple penguins," ...because that isn't confusing at all? What is necessary to become a success is a good education - a tool that further assists us in our attempts to obtain our life objectives. Education is the stepping stone to a better life; if everyone is educated, this world will be a better and more peaceful place so that more people can thrive by their personal preference in a labor of love and choice. Happy Anniversary ObamaCare, You're the Gift that Keeps on Giving

America observed the one year anniversary of ObamaCare this month. Just like some marriages, it seems like it’s already been decades. As FDR declared after Pearl Harbor, it's a date that will live in infamy. But the GOP shouldn’t run away from this sad anniversary; they should embrace it. ObamaCare is the Republicans' ticket to a landslide victory in 2014 and 2016. The GOP should scream about it night and day from the highest hill! We should celebrate this dismal anniversary. Never look a gift horse in the mouth. Here’s my advice for my fellow Republicans: Politicians and strategists from the GOP need to get out of Washington and stop listening to the mainstream media. The Kool Aid-drinking liberal media is either delusional or lying to cover up for the massive failure of Obama’s one and only "signature achievement." [more...]

The Insecurity of WH Security

Julia Pierson, the recently resigned Secret Service Director, had stated that she wanted to create a work atmosphere that reflected Disneyland. Unfortunately, this is the culture that has gotten our country into even more trouble. I struggle with Obama, his administrations, and his appointees' decisions. They lack real world expertise. They just wish upon a star; but when reality hits them in the face, and they fail, their ignorance sparks further reinforcement. In the past five years, 16 people were reported to have bypassed the fence surrounding the White House - including one toddler. While glitches in the internal structure of the Secret Service ultimately did lead to security breach incidences, I think Julia Pierson's ideological mindset holds a series of miscommunicated ideas that are rooted in something much more closely to realistic logic. On September 25, President Obama delivered to the United Nations Security Council a speech designed to win united action against the several Islamic-terrorist armies that are presently tearing up the borders of Syria and Iraq and threatening to obliterate all the neighboring regimes. Obamacare Employer Mandate to Have Day in Court on October 14

After a year in the legal system, the case against President Barack Obama and his illegal waiver of the employer mandate aside from the will of Congress will finally have its day in court. A three-judge panel in the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals in Atlanta Georgia will hear oral arguments on Kawa Orthodontics, LLP v. Secretary, U.S. Department of the Treasury et al. (No.14-10296).

The lawsuit is about the illegal executive actions surrounding the employer mandate. In July of 2013 after a tweet of President Obama, the Treasury Department issued a memo cancelling the employer mandate, which was set to be implemented on January 1, 2014.

Prior to July 2013, I spent money, time, energy and opportunity cost to make sure that my business was in compliance with the Affordable Care and Patient Protection Act. After more than 100 hours of work on this matter, the administration changed the rules under which I thought the law was built upon, causing me financial injury.

While many have tried to take down Obamacare and failed, our case is currently the most serious legal challenge to Obamacare in the federal court system. The employer mandate was recently brought into the national consciousness several months ago when Speaker of the House John Boehner announced that he would look into filing a lawsuit regarding the employer mandate. Ebola Drug Shortage Raises Terrifying Questions

Last August the news at first sounded almost miraculous. Two American health workers in Liberia, West Africa, had become infected with the viral disease Ebola, roughly half of whose victims die from internal bleeding. Both recovered, however, after taking a new experimental drug called ZMapp, a mixture of three different monoclonal antibodies that bind to the protein of the Ebola virus. Before the world could celebrate this potential cure for a terrifying, highly lethal contagious disease, however, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) put out an August 29 press release: "At this time, very few courses of this experimental treatment have been manufactured," wrote the CDC. "The manufacturer has indicated that the available doses have been distributed." A World Health Organization (WHO) statement noted that "existing supplies of all experimental [Ebola] medicines are either extremely limited or exhausted. [more...]

Ebola Breaks out in Texas

More than seven months later, thousands dead and growing, and an internationally declared global crisis later, the first Ebola case to happen within U.S. borders has occurred in Dallas, Texas. On his first trip to the USA, ever, Eric Duncan is also the first case of Ebola on U.S. soil. The kind man had been in Liberia and was probably exposed to Ebola when helping a pregnant woman with the disease after she was turned away from an overpopulated hospital. We've all heard over and over again how officials are on the lookout for containing the disease, but seriously... why has the public been so susceptible to believe statements about what officials say they are doing to prevent the spread of this deadly disease? Yes, Duncan was "tested" for Ebola before boarding his plane to the U.S., but these so-called tests are more like check-ups. Only if you’re vomiting, running fever, have abdominal pain, or are hemorrhaging would you be denied entry onto a plane. Such a test is really quite ridiculous, because the incubation period for this virus runs between 2 to 21 days. [more...]

America’s Greatest Political and Economic Lesson in the Last 125 Years

What is America's greatest political and economic lesson in the last 125 years?  Can you guess what it is?  What one lesson would you tell your children and grandchildren about America that stands out over the last century and a quarter? The Wall Street Journal recently took the time and effort to review 125 years of their editorials in the search for insight and knowledge.  They came away with a number of principle ideas and principle conclusions.  One lesson, in particular, stands out to me as an overarching theme for America.  Let's explore some of these profound conclusions and see how they shed light on today's challenges in America. Government math takes on many forms. It could be the basis for Common Core math where 2-plus-2-plus-2 doesn't always equal 6. Just like 18% of employable people in the U.S. equals a 5.9% unemployment rate. The 5.9 % number is usually arrived at by simply looking at how many Americans file for unemployment every week - both new and continuing claims. You hear about the numbers of people dropping off the rolls but you never hear why. The assumption is that they found a job. Do you ever hear them report about the number of people who drop off the unemployment rolls because they ran out of time? Or the ones who got discouraged and gave up looking because they couldn't find employment. What about the ones who switch to disability because they are now having physical and mental issues as a result of their job search? [more...]

On this week's POLITICAL INSIDERS, we explored how anxiety over the decline of America might impact this November's crucial elections - and the unique Senate race in Kansas which features an Independent candidate who is polling higher than almost any candidate in the country. Presidents and the War Power

President Barack Obama's claim that he doesn't need congressional authorization for his current war in Iraq and Syria is troubling. The country's founders would pass out upon hearing his claim that the post-9/11 congressional approval of force in 2001 against the perpetrators of those attacks and their abettors and the congressional resolution approving George W. Bush's invasion of Saddam Hussein's Iraq in 2003 give him the current authority for a very different war against very different people. However, Obama is not the first president to believe that he has the rather imperial authority for war by executive fiat.

Up until 1950, for major conflicts, presidents followed the nation's founders' intent in the U.S. Constitution to obtain a declaration of war from Congress. For the Korean War, however, Harry Truman, really the first imperial president, decided that this vital constitutional requirement was optional. Unfortunately, as I note in my new book - Recarving Rushmore: Ranking the Presidents on Peace, Prosperity, and Liberty - once a bad precedent is set, meaning that the chief executive gets away with an unconstitutional act, future presidents will cite it in carrying out their own questionable actions. Piers Morgan Boasts of Hollywood Support for His Anti-Gun Documentary

Even though Piers Morgan no longer hosts the CNN news show that bore his name, he recently let it be known that he plans to film a cinematic attack on the Second Amendment of the U.S. Constitution via a documentary backed by some major Hollywood heavyweights.

"I've been approached by a couple of big independent producers in Hollywood to make it [anti-gun documentary]," Morgan recently told Politico, claiming that he already has a "big offer on the table" from a "big player in Hollywood" to finance the project. The former cable TV personality did acknowledge, however, that the Hollywood deal has not yet been finalized, stating, "We’re not quite where we both want to be yet, but we’re negotiating hard, and other people might come in."

The upcoming release, or "guns movie" as Morgan calls it, was described by the would-be filmmaker as a movie in the style of "Bowling for Columbine," Michael Moore's 2002 Second Amendment slam. Morgan indicated that the project of which he looks forward to being a part will focus on gun violence in the U.S. [more...]

Who Would You Pick, Obama or Derek Jeter?

Jeter's 5 world championships, 200 record-setting postseason hits, and the streak of 20 straight years of being a winner in virtually every game he played in... versus… Obama. Has America been a champion in anything, on any day in past 6 years of Obama's presidency? Has our economy been a winner in any category for 6 straight years? Have we been a leader in middle class job creation in any day in 6 straight years (as opposed to the few crappy low-wage, part-time jobs created)? [more...]

Netanyahu's Truth in a Den of Lies

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu delivered a powerful and sobering speech to the United Nations General Assembly on September 29th.  He said he came from Jerusalem to speak on behalf of the Israeli people and to "expose the brazen lies spoken from this very podium against my country and the brave soldiers who defend it. Truth must always be spoken, especially here, in the United Nations," the prime minister said to an audience of government leaders and delegates not used to hearing the truth spoken in the UN on issues relating to the Jewish state. Pilot Strikes Got Air France by the Seat of Their Pants

Recent airline worker strikes by Lufthansa and Air France pilots have been affecting flights all throughout Europe and even the world. Air France may be a European owned company, but its flights are also partnered with Delta and other American owned Airlines that fly in and out of the United States as well.  Europe's two largest airlines are in financial turmoil, so they made the decision to cut wages and other expenses in an effort to trim operating costs. Unfortunately, these budget cuts led Air France pilots to go on a two-week strike, and while Air France pilots have returned to work this week, pilots from Lufthansa have begun one. Meanwhile, there is still no solution to the ongoing issue; and despite costing their employers approximately $317 million, Air France must still figure out how to cut costs or face bankruptcy in less than a decade. School of Medicine Changes Policy to Enroll Illegal Immigrants

The University of Washington School of Medicine has announced it has changed its policy to make illegal immigrants eligible for enrollment. "We felt we were really catching up to the rest of the UW," says Carol Teitz, associate dean for admissions at the medical school. "It's the right thing to do," says Benji Perin, a third-year UW medical student, who led the effort to alter the school policy. [more...]
