After
NY Primary, Does Trump Have a Lock on the First Ballot?
On
the heels of the NY primary comes a series of 10 primaries at the end of April
and into May. They are mostly closed to people not in the Republican Party. On
April 26th, the Pennsylvania Primary with 71 delegates is a major prize.
But only 17 of the 71 delegates are pledged to vote for the winner of the
primary. These are at-large, bonus and RNC delegates. The other 54
delegates are selected in an unusual LOOPHOLE type primary where delegates are
selected separately from the State presidential candidate preference in each of
18 Congressional District primaries. In addition, these 54 delegates are
officially unpledged. [Go here for a complete analysis...]
Can Trump Really “Win” Against China?
Donald
Trump has been saying that China is “killing” the US and, if he’s president, we
will “win” against China. Can The Donald actually do what he
claims? Can he “win” against China? I would say the answer is “yes
and no,” and depends to a large degree on how you define “win.” For the
sake of argument, let’s say that Trump’s intent is to “get tough” with China on
certain key issues. Is that advisable and what benefit might
result? Below are some thoughts relative to the most contentious issues
facing the US-Sino relationship: imports from China, exports to China, cyber
espionage, and... [more...]
Rough
Road Ahead for Oil
After
reaching a 13-year low in January and February, oil prices have floated back
above the $40 mark on many indices. Brent Crude, the global benchmark, rose
from a $29.31 low to a 2016 high of $44.28 last week. Much, if not all of this
price increase, came from hopes of a drop in global supply. Saudi Arabia,
Russia, Iran, and even the U.S. were producing at record high numbers, and an
agreement by OPEC to curb supply would naturally drive prices higher. [more...]
California
Holds the Golden Key for Trump
By
James
Hirsen
Like
a locomotive in the night, the headlights of the California primary are getting
brighter and coming ever closer, bringing what will be a decisive conclusion to
the 2016 Republican primary contest. Despite all the machinations by the GOP
establishment, the Golden State June 7 primary is likely to give Donald Trump
enough delegates to place him either over the magic 1,237 number or close
enough so that he can win the first round at the convention in Cleveland this
July and secure the nomination for the presidency. A simple fact seems to elude
many in the press when it comes to covering the GOP presidential race: The only
current Republican candidate who has an actual chance of obtaining a majority
of delegates prior to the start of the GOP convention is the front-runner. [more...]
“Liberal”
Media Trump’s Chief Booster?
By
Lowell Ponte
Why are so few of Trump's supporters
suspicious that the "liberal" media is their
"conservative" candidate's chief booster? Is the "earned" media
they give Trump an illegal $2 billion campaign contribution, or merely
their tribute to his ability to boost ratings? Either way, it has grossly
tilted and rigged the playing board in this election cycle. And why
have Trump's fans in both the liberal and conservative media ceased
to mention his "off the record" long interview with the
left-of-center New York Times editorial board? Trump has refused to authorize
the public release of this tape, just as former Secretary of State Hillary
Clinton refuses to release transcripts of three private speeches before Goldman
Sachs, for which these powerful bankers paid her $675,000.
Bernie
or Hillary? Who Is Going to Win New York? Can The Donald Get to 1237 Delegates?
With
the crucial New York Primary looming, can Bernie catch Hillary? Is Hillary
becoming so damaged that her chances in a general election are diminished? In
the GOP race, can The Donald get to 1237 delegates – or is the entire GOP
machinery now devoted to stopping him? Is he, too, so damaged that he could not
win in November? This – and much more – will be discussed by the POLITICAL
INSIDERS – live - on Fox News Channel this Sunday evening – at 7:30
PM ET. [more...]
