USDA Failed to Craft a Strategy to Protect Farmers and
Ranchers
By
Michael
Stumo
Agriculture
Secretary Sonny Perdue wrongly criticized the tariff actions
imposed in 2018 by President Trump. The USDA compensation program
was a good start, but no further strategy was created to address low farm
prices which, in most cases preceded the retaliatory tariffs. U.S. agriculture
has been suffering from global oversupply and excessive concentration in food
processing for many years. USDA’s free trade agenda and opposition to country
of origin labeling has spurred imports to displace U.S. farm and ranch products
in our home market. Further, the free trade policies of the past have not only
enabled global oversupply but prevented any action to fix that problem.
President Trump directed Secretary Perdue to craft a strategy to protect
farmers and ranchers from tariff-related retaliation. Perdue should not respond
with opposition to the very steel, aluminum, and China tariffs that are
addressing foreign trade cheating. [more...]
The Greatest Enemy of
Socialism is Free Will
By
Karen Kataline
The
Left is already in the middle stages of imposing their evil and seductive
ideology on the rest of us. Consequently, they have abandoned many of the ideas
they formerly pretended to cherish. Case in point, they don’t lecture us much
anymore about “tolerance” and “compassion.” They are more willing than ever to
let us see their intolerance for white people, straight men, conservatives,
Christians, rural dwellers, law-abiding citizens and, of course, Trump voters. Like
a cult that most people would easily dismiss if they were told the whole truth
up front, Socialism must be sold deceptively and incrementally in a velvet
glove. It’s a pretty picture of Utopia where there is never any want; there is
equality and fairness for all, and no one has more than anyone else. If Socialism
is so great, why is it always necessary to first coerce and then force
acceptance of it? Because the greatest enemy of socialism is the concept of
individual free will. [more...]
The Incredible
Hypocrisy of Jeff Bezos
By Daniel Greenfield
Amazon
CEO Jeff Bezos did not pay $250 million for the Washington Post because
it was a good deal. In his own words, “It is the newspaper in the capital city
of the most important country in the world. The Washington Post has an incredibly
important role to play in this democracy.” Clear away the PR euphemisms and the
world’s richest man was saying that he bought the Post because it sets
the agenda in Washington, D.C. and helps determine the outcome of elections. Bezos
isn’t the first tycoon to buy influence by buying an influential paper. The
power he wields with the Washington Post is a pale shadow of the Hearst
empire. Dot com billionaires keep buying up media white elephants. Salesforce
CEO Marc Benioff is buying Time. The Atlantic is in the hands of
Steve Jobs’ widow. The New Republic is being run into the ground by
Facebook co-founder Chris Hughes. [more...]
Ilhan Omar's Non-Apology for her Anti-Semitism
By Robert
Spencer
The
anti-Semitism of hijabbed Muslim Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) has apparently gotten
to be too much even for the inveterately anti-Israel Democrat Party leadership.
“I unequivocally apologize,” Omar tweeted
Monday, after party leaders including Nancy Pelosi, Steny Hoyer, James
E. Clyburn and others publicly
castigated her: “Congresswoman Omar’s use of anti-Semitic tropes and
prejudicial accusations about Israel’s supporters is deeply offensive. We
condemn these remarks and we call upon Congresswoman Omar to immediately
apologize for these hurtful comments.” However, Omar’s apology was more of an
admission that she had gotten caught than a sign of a genuine change of heart.
But Omar’s second paragraph nullified her apology. [more...]
