Context matters. Context is what truly holds the line on matters much greater than the politics of the day. As you will read in 13½ Reasons Why Not to Be a Liberal (and How to Enlighten Others), my new book is all about context. Context is the very soul of truth and facts. It is vital to our political ideology and our nation itself.
There are three major contextual truths in relation to the Capitol Hill event that took place on January 6, 2021:
1) Under American law, bad actors remain subject to law and order regardless of political party or ideology. This is why there were hundreds of arrests during the many leftist riots of 2020. Let us not act too shocked. Escalation had been building for some time. When any rational citizen looks at the 2020 map, it is clear that our world was already white hot. Some Trump supporters did get caught up in the heat of the moment. Yet some of the bad actors were agitators from numerous backgrounds.
2) Trump's reaction and speech upon escalation were appropriate, quick, and straightforward. If you did not listen, you should. His initial speech at the Capitol was not a call to violence. Quite the contrary; his remarks pale in comparison to the overt calls for violence by numerous Democrat officials ranging from Congresswoman Maxine Waters to former Attorney General Eric Holder.
3) More context. "Thank God for COVID's (albeit tragic) destruction to a powerful and thriving American economy, or the left would have never had even a remote shot at winning" could be said by any loyal, result-focused Democrat.
The upcoming January 20th transfer of power is more of an aberration than a normal merit-based transition. Joe Biden won without having to campaign or offer a coherent philosophy. The left deliberately tried to hide their real vision for America. Biden was far from a stellar candidate, and he ran as a centrist who rejected the very leftism his supporters will now eagerly push. We all know the left deliberately gamed the system.
Conservatives run by telling voters exactly who and what they are; leftists run by denying who and what they are until after they get elected. This constant dishonest bait and switch breeds resentment among voters who just want a better life, not a revolution. Americans are tired of being lied to by people who use big media and big tech to bully, harass, cancel, and censor them out of existence. Years of being demonized take their toll. This is not an excuse for violence of any kind, but it is an explanation.
Let us see if those who are taking power can act nobly and humbly. Let us see if they recognize their great fortune that they only won due to a global medical tragedy and massive loss rather than simple, honest merit. Moreover, let us see how "great" these people can actually be for America. Our standard is much higher after Trump's successful policies including over 380 notable achievements. It will not end well for liberals unless the Democrat Party has a massive rebirth of truth and a refined, clarified, open honest agenda. If not, we will all watch as power shifts radically and quickly back to the right again in two years in a massive midterm reversal. Republican expectations are high for winning "bigly" in the 2022 mid-term elections.
Let us also see how Democrats handle personal freedom and recovery now that three protocols and three vaccines are already here. I am an American first and a conservative second, so now here is my charge: "Blow me away with great individual liberty-centered, smaller government American governance." History is a harsh master of truth and holder of actual performance. We stand ready to see how Democrats now hold the line.
American life will settle down soon enough. America, as she does, will sustain. The rolls in the federal registry (where our laws reside) will be enlarged again with new laws under the highly regulatory hand of the left. The rolls will then contract again under the hands of a deregulatory right in the next reversal of power.
January 20th is just around the corner. Hopefully, any transgressions of the law that have transpired are dealt with aggressively. That is beyond any party. Law is key in any civil society. All violent protesters from Black Lives Matter to Antifa to right-wing bad actors must develop peaceful means of protest or be subject to the long arm of the law.
My book, 13½ Reasons Why Not to Be a Liberal goes beyond the 2021 inauguration, but it incorporates it as well as the riots that have led to America’s current fractious divisions. Administrations come and go, but ideas are what stand the test of time. The current leftist riots and the right-wing debate over how to respond are new. The motivations behind the leftist riots are as old as politics itself. Riots are just a means to an end. The leftist end is the overthrow of the American capitalist system. The conservative goal is to preserve the system that has lifted more people out of poverty than any other system in world history.
The
events of January 6, 2021 are one flashpoint. They pale in scope, size and
significance to the events of the past several years engineered by the left.
Leftist riots are the norm. Conservative riots are a statistical aberration. It
is up to conservatives to effectively guard against the left switching the
reality of these two facts. 13½ Reasons is about effectively
communicating truths to counter the false narratives that threaten our
constitutional republic.
