Firearms Expert Taunts Pro-Gun Control Academics

Gun ownership increased sixfold under former Brazilian President Bolosonaro, homicides dropped 34%

John Lott, an economist and academic who leads the Crime Prevention Research Center (CPRC) – which for years has researched and argued that an increase in firearm ownership does not mean higher crime rates says he reached out to 12 academics in the U.S. earlier this year with a proposal: A $1,000 bet on whether the homicide rate would increase in Brazil under Lula and his administration’s gun ownership crackdown. "Here is what I offer you. Let’s bet $1,000 and make it simple on whether the homicide rate in Brazil will go up or down during the first two years of Lula's presidency. If the homicide rate goes down from what it was in 2022, I will pay you $1,000. If it goes up, you will pay me $1,000," Lott wrote in his e-mails to fellow academics. Lott published an op-ed about the bet on The Federalist last week, noting that seven of the twelve academics didn't respond to his offer while the other five did not take him up on the bet. Thousands of children are being brought in through our porous borders and used for sex trafficking - modern day slavery. We do not see the public auctions, beatings and shackles; but they are happening. Right now. Right here in the USA. Where is the outrage? The numbers of women and children being used for sexual slavery are difficult to count because they are underground clandestine activities. But from what we do know, the statistics are horrific. Estimates of women and children forced into sex slavery in the USA each year may range from 240,000 to 325,000 (HHS), or 100,000 to 300,000 (University of Pennsylvania) or 15,000 to 50,000 (Deliver Fund). Many have been smuggled through our open borders, some abducted here. When they are no longer useful, they are cast off, sentenced to a life of psychological trauma. There are new developments at the southern border that reflect the Biden national security team being not only weak, but also compromised and controlled like Joe Biden, who has received tens of millions of dollars through Biden family shell companies and a labyrinth of LLCs from various Chinese entities tied to the Communist Party of China (CCP). U.S. border authorities have recently reported a 900% increase in Chinese males coming across the border in the last year, at a time when multiple threat indicators are rising, such as intense military overflights of Taiwanese airspace and war games around the island country. Solar Import Boom from Southeast Asian Nations Under Investigation for Dumping Helped By White House

If the White House wants domestic solar producers to ramp up production of solar cells, modules, and a comprehensive reshoring of the entire solar supply chain, the ongoing boom of solar imports from Southeast Asia is doing Washington no favors. Solar panel imports rose in the first quarter of the year thanks to the White House's two year moratorium on tariffs, issued last June. Solar panel imports rose to 850,157 metric tons shipped to the U.S. in the first quarter, up from 672,863 metric tons shipped in the fourth quarter, according to analysis by S&P Global Market Intelligence. Meanwhile, just as the U.S. is investing more in solar domestically, so are Chinese companies investing in expanding their supply chain dominance throughout Southeast Asia.  [more...]
