At first, I couldn’t muster much interest in the relatively
irrelevant news that Joe Walsh plans to mount a primary challenge to President Trump
in 2020. Au contraire. It serves as a great example of what seems to motivate
the anti-Trump Republicans in our midst. Walsh, a one-term Congressman from
Illinois (2011-2013) made his announcement on “This Week” with George
“Step-on-all-of-us,” using old, tired Democrat talking points to explain why he
despises Trump. He added his own blend of hubris in speaking for the entire
Republican party despite reality and facts: [more...]

'Overcomer' Lights Up the Box Office
By James Hirsen
Executives at Sony Pictures and its faith-based unit Affirm are
no doubt elated over the box-office performance of the big-screen release
“Overcomer.” Alex and Stephen Kendrick’s most recent film opened in 1,700
theaters this past weekend and brought in a higher than expected $8.2 million,
the third largest opening for a movie from the faith-based filmmaker brothers. The
film secured a third place slot in the weekend box-office line-up, just behind
the major studio releases “Angel Has Fallen” and “Good Boys.” [more...]
Enemies of the Electoral College
By Lowell Ponte
Our Constitution's framers created the Electoral College to
prevent demagogues and political power junkies from seizing the presidency. Demagogues
and power junkies have ever since been trying to abolish or circumvent the
Electoral College, most recently through the so-called National Popular Vote
Interstate Compact. Thus far, 15 states plus the District of Columbia have
agreed to cast their Electoral votes for the winner of the national popular
vote, even if some of these states' voters prefer the other major
candidate. These 15 states + D.C. control 196 Electoral votes - nearly
3/4ths of the 270 Electoral votes needed to elect a President. Sixteen of the
Democratic presidential candidates favor ending the Electoral College, thereby
giving more political power to the largest cities in large Democratic states. Is
the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact a way to steal the "national popular
vote" via one or two big states such as California - and thereby to steal
the presidency? [more...]
'Trans Kids,' Gay Kids and Child Drag Queens?
By Karen Kataline
The Left is openly targeting children with sexual messages,
forcing “LGBTQ” sex practices on grade-schoolers without their parents’ consent
and mass marketing “trans-kids,” gay kids and child drag queens. Gender is
fluid, don’t you know, but being gay is not. But why? Why would they
actively push a gay agenda on children who aren’t yet old enough to know about "the
birds and the bees?" Thrusting children into premature sexuality and
confusing them with adult sexual messages, be they gender-bending or not, used
to be an undisputed social taboo. We still prosecute child sex traffickers and
child pornographers, and we don’t allow children into R-rated movies, but child
drag queens and forced sex education is "forward-thinking?" [more...]

Every time that there is any talk of cutting the PBS budget, the
massive organization rolls out Sesame Street as its puppet shield. Cutting the
PBS budget is tantamount to killing Grover, Elmo, and Big Bird. Except it isn’t
Republicans who have been killing Big Bird. The greed of PBS executives was
doing that. While PBS has plenty of money to throw at its top executives and
its lefty causes, its licensing payments only covered 10% of Sesame Street’s
production costs. That’s why the Sesame Workshop took first episodes of its series
to HBO. Meanwhile the PBS leadership got another in a series of huge raises. [more...]

Why We Need Baldwin-Hawley Currency Reform Now
By Jeff Ferry
In his recent article, "How Not to Restore American
Industry," David P. Goldman criticizes the Baldwin-Hawley bill,
also known as the Competitive Dollar for Jobs and Prosperity Act, which was
introduced into the Senate earlier this month. The bill would
provide the Federal Reserve Bank with a third mandate, achieving and
maintaining a current account balance (trade balance) through exchange rate
management. Goldman’s article is thoughtful and entertaining, yet he misses
several crucial points about how the modern global economy operates, and this
leads him to overlook the importance of currency. It is also notable that
Goldman is a columnist for Asia Times, a newspaper based in Hong Kong which has
managed its exchange rate for decades. [more...]
Did Trump Just Defend or Offend Jewish People?
By Karen Kataline
The latest faux outrage in a news cycle which is getting tougher
and tougher to keep up with, concerns President Trump’s re-tweet of a comment
reportedly by Wayne Allyn Root, proclaiming Trump as “King of the Jews” and (I
still can’t find this one) “the Second Coming of God.” The secular media
propagandists love to spin things like this particularly when they think it
will offend Christians who are their primary target. Sadly, American Jews
who support Trump are a minority within an already tiny minority. I believe
that it is virtually impossible to deny that President Trump has been a
spectacular President for Israel and the Jewish People and frankly, for all
groups that the Left has come to think of as their own personal mascots. Those
who still deny this are certainly more focused on that river in Egypt. [more...]
Question to Cummings - Where Did the Billions in Missing Federal
Money Go?
By Matthew Vadum
President Trump went after purported congressional watchdog
Elijah Cummings recently, slamming the Democrat congressman for failing to
improve his troubled Baltimore, Maryland, district despite the inflow of
billions of dollars in federal aid during and in the years leading up to
Trump’s administration. “Baltimore’s numbers are the worst in the United
States on crime and the economy. Billions of dollars have been pumped in over
the years, but to no avail,” the president wrote on Twitter July 29. “The money
was stolen or wasted. Ask Elijah Cummings where it went. He should investigate
himself with his Oversight Committee! Baltimore, under the leadership of Elijah
Cummings, has the worst crime statistics in the nation. 25 years of all talk,
no action! So tired of listening to the same old bull... Next, Reverend Al will
show up to complain and protest. Nothing will get done for the people in need.
Sad!” [more...]
A President Harris Would Mean Good-bye to Private Insurance
By Sally Pipes, President & CEO of the Pacific
Research Institute
Since announcing her candidacy for the Democratic nomination for
president, Senator Kamala Harris hasn't been able to make up her mind about
whether she wants to eliminate private health insurance. At a CNN town hall in
January, she voiced support for nixing private insurance, stating, "Let's
eliminate all of that. Let's move on." Then, in May, she said she was
misunderstood and pushed for supplemental private coverage. A few weeks later,
during the first set of Democratic presidential debates, Harris raised her hand
when the moderators asked who on the stage would eliminate private insurance.
Hours later, she said she misheard the question, and reversed course. Now, she
claims to have a plan that will supposedly provide health coverage for everyone
while "preserving a role" for private insurers. Don't believe it.
Harris is bent on killing off private insurance and pushing all Americans into
a one-size-fits-all, government-run health plan - at an annual cost of
trillions of taxpayer dollars. [more...]
Trump and the Greenland New Deal
By Lowell Ponte
President Trump said he canceled his trip to Denmark after a
“nasty” comment by the country’s prime minister about the U.S. president’s
interest in buying Greenland, which is the world's largest island, 80 percent
of which is covered with ice. Does he know that in year 986 the Viking Erik the
Red began selling Greenland to settlers by claiming it was green and offered
them rich farmland? Just as with Rep. Ocasio-Cortez, the label "green"
has been used to fool people. The Little Ice Age in the North Atlantic destroyed
Viking settlements in Greenland. We appear to be at a similar point in a climate
cycle, with another brief once-in-a-thousand-years period of warming that began
in 1850 now about to end. The island is rich in mineral wealth, but if
its ice melted, this could raise global sea levels by 23 feet and submerge Miami.

In response to the media storm involving her on-again, off-again
trip to Israel with fellow freshman Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib, Rep. Ilhan
Omar said that Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu has "aligned himself with
Islamophobes like Donald Trump." This statement would have been

There’s no place on earth that boycotters of Israel like

movement, has been living in Israel for 25 years. And the activist who helped
introduce the boycott of Israel to the world has spent many of those years
arguing that he should be allowed to live in Israel, attend Israeli schools,
and shop for Israeli products. Earlier this year, the United States refused to
allow Barghouti to enter this country, either due to his support for terrorism
or the tax evasion case. The boycotter had finally become the boycotted. And
boycotting BDS is the best way to beat it. [more...]
'Medicare-for-All' Would be Hazardous to the Health of Seniors

Sen. Kamala Harris, D-Calif., had a run-in with the Greatest

"leave our health care alone." Like many Americans, Jewell is reluctant

We Must Protect our God-Given Right to Self-Defense
By Karen Kataline
Only people who intend you harm are threatened by your right to
defend yourself. The state of Texas knows that and that’s why they are
not strengthening gun laws but loosening them. This is heretical to the average
Democrat who is not moved by the “good guy with a gun” argument because he sees
no difference between a good guy and a bad guy. The Left also
demonstrates almost daily, their belief that anyone who disagrees with them is
already bad - especially since the 2016 Presidential election. Texans know that
more guns in the hands of law-abiding citizens is a deterrent to such
atrocities as El Paso and Dayton. That’s why “Red Flag” laws are such a
disaster. These laws desensitize the average citizen to gun confiscation
without due process. They violate other constitutional rights like the right to
privacy, the right against uncompensated takings of property, the right to a
jury trial and to confront one’s accusers. [more...]
How Trump Started a Civil War Between Hamas and a UN Agency

the UNRWA stands out for waste, corruption and terror. The UNRWA’s abbreviation

Palestine Refugees in the Near East, and its heavy focus on Gaza. The UNRWA

The Suspicious Death of Jeffrey Epstein
By Karen Kataline
Jeffrey Epstein, the billionaire convicted pedophile with a
Rolodex of rich and famous men, was found dead on Saturday morning. He was
alleged to have hung himself in his jail cell. Few people believe this
was a suicide. Why? The legacy media has been exposed again and again for
pushing false narratives to further their obvious leftist political agenda, and
covering for people with whom they agree or want to help get elected. Just as
names like “Steele dossier” and “Fusion GPS” were unfamiliar not only to Robert
Mueller himself but to anyone who gets their news solely from ABC, NBC, CNN,
the New York Times et al., what has become “common knowledge” about the
Clintons has hardly come from the “legacy media.” That’s just one reason
for such a cynical public. [more...]
What the Heck is CBD and Can it Solve the Financial Pain of Our

By legalizing hemp, the 2018 Farm Bill sets the stage for a
national and international trade in CBD that is expected to dwarf the market
for THC products. CBD is the straitlaced cousin of marijuana’s more famous
component - the THC that makes you high. CBD (Cocannabidiol), has no such
intoxicating effects and is derived directly from the hemp plant, which is a
cousin of the marijuana plant. Hemp and hemp derived products are legal under
the Farm Bill, as long as their THC content is less than 0.3%. Even with all
the hype of CBD, it cannot be overstated how beneficial this plant could be for

Dayton Shooter Not Unlike Young Radical Democrats
By Lowell Ponte
Headline-seeking Democrat politicians and their comrades in the
liberal-left media have unanimously and incessantly blamed President Trump for
recent shooter killings in El Paso, Texas, and Dayton, Ohio. The president,
they claim, triggered both atrocities by being a “racist, a “white
supremacist.” Political and media demagogues, however, give few details about the
Dayton shooter, Connor Betts, who appears to have been a far-left radical, some
days calling himself a Socialist and others a Communist. Betts supported the urban
terrorist group Antifa and, like the son of Hillary Clinton’s 2016 running mate
Senator Tim Kaine (D-Virginia), reportedly took part in Antifa-like leftist
KKK-ish violence. He was also a Satanist and “displayed every trope” of today’s
young radical Democrats. [more...]

CPA Praises Trump Administration for Labeling China a 'Currency Manipulator'
By Michael Stumo
The Coalition for a
Prosperous America (CPA) strongly praised the Trump administration for formally
designating
China as a “currency manipulator.” U.S. manufacturers have long complained
about Beijing’s currency manipulation, which has made Chinese exports
artificially cheap in the U.S. market. This is the first time that the
executive branch has taken such action.
Currency misalignment
caused by an overvalued and noncompetitive dollar is the primary reason for
continuing U.S. trade deficits. It has cost America millions of manufacturing
jobs in the past two decades and has driven down agricultural prices. The People’s
Bank of China recently raised the yuan’s trading range above 7 to 1 against the
dollar. This continuing manipulation simply pushes the dollar higher in
relation to the yuan. President Trump should now use his authority to
counter-intervene against the People’s Bank, and he should start managing the
capital inflows that continually drive the dollar higher. He should also put
the full force of his administration behind the passage of the Competitive Dollar for Jobs and Prosperity Act sponsored
by Senators Tammy Baldwin and Josh Hawley. [more...]

Laws which disarm victims in an ever more dangerous environment,
seem to be exactly what Democrats are after. Republicans have shown themselves
willing to roll over to avoid the political heat of the moment. Consequently,
everyday citizens are again blamed and punished for the criminal behavior of a
few. That collectivist ideology has been pushed by the Left for a long
time. How I wish I could tell President Trump to put on the brakes in
supporting policies in the heat of grief and emotion. It remains to be seen
whether his recent speech will yield fundamental policy changes but I for one,
hope not. Not only do sweeping, federal laws do little to address the complex
issues in this growing problem but the only people who stand to lose are

a Trump administration rule that expands access to short-term, limited duration

many states have already implemented rules restricting, if not banning
outright, short-term plans. They're more interested in protecting Obamacare
than in ensuring that consumers have access to affordable health coverage. [more...]
Mass Shootings are Not a "White Man's" Problem
By Daniel Greenfield
Around the same time that the media was focused on the mass
shootings in El Paso and Dayton, 60 people were shot in Chicago over the
weekend. 24 of those people were shot in four hours. Baltimore reached its 200th
murder victim of the year during its “Ceasefire Weekend." 4 people were killed
in 4 days in Kansas City. 6 men were shot in Philly during the filming of a rap
video. This tide of violence has received less media coverage because it
challenges the false claim that, as a CNN op-ed once put it, mass shootings are
a “white man’s problem.” "I would say our country should be more fearful
of white men across our country because they are actually causing most of the
deaths within this country," Rep. Ilhan Omar claimed on Al Jazeera.
"We have to stop demonizing people and realize the biggest terror threat
in this country is white men," Don Lemon had previously claimed on CNN. [more...]

The Agenda-Laden Reboot of "Party of

By James Hirsen
That Hollywood would be walking hand-in-hand with the Democratic
Party in an effort to shape the mindset of the culture-at-large is nothing new.
However, the idea that entertainment products would have morphed into
super-sized mallets that would then be used to hammer left-wing agendas into
folks’ heads is. The routine insertion into entertainment content by Hollywood
of “woke” themes and characters is clearly illustrated in a highly altered
supposed reboot of a previous 1990’s television show, “Party of Five.” [more...]

Baltimore - The City Progressives Ruined

Seeing its neighborhoods today, where swarms of rats fatten on piles
of garbage, it’s surprising to learn that Baltimore was once the second most
popular destination of early American immigrants. Baltimore was the Silicon
Valley of the early 1800s – a vibrant and prosperous center of wonder and
invention, home of our nation’s first great railroad, the Baltimore and Ohio,
and of the amazing new electronic communications technology beside its tracks,
the telegraph. But, as Craig R. Smith and I explain in our book We Have Seen the Future and It Looks Like Baltimore,
the magic soon faded. [more...]

the shootings, Runcie aggressively interjected himself into the legislative
fight on the Second Amendment – and he has a First Amendment right to
express his opinion. However, taxpayers have a right to ask whether their money
is being wasted on unnecessary travel, lobbying activities, perks, and a
super-sized salary. [more...]

We Will No Longer Allow the U.S. Dollar to be Weaponized Against
America’s Heartland
By Jeff Ferry
Bipartisan bill would realign U.S. dollar to eliminate trade
deficit
The Coalition for a Prosperous America (CPA) today offered its
highest possible support and endorsement of the new, bipartisan Competitive
Dollar for Jobs and Prosperity Act (CDJPA) introduced by Senators Tammy Baldwin
(D-WI) and Josh Hawley (R-MO). The bill would require the Federal Reserve to
achieve and maintain balanced trade for the United States through management of
the U.S. dollar’s exchange rate. Domestic producers have long considered an
overvalued dollar to be a major impediment to U.S. trade competitiveness. The
CDJPA provides the Fed with new tools to carry out its mandate, including the
ability to directly counter foreign currency manipulation. The bill also
establishes a market access charge (MAC) which would strategically slow the
destructive flood of foreign capital currently driving the dollar’s value to
noncompetitive levels. [more...]
Welcome to Rat and Democrat-Infested Baltimore
By Daniel Greenfield
This new edition of The Glazov Gang features the Daniel
Greenfield Moment with Daniel Greenfield, a Shillman Journalism Fellow at the
David Horowitz Freedom Center. Daniel discusses 'Welcome to Rat and
Democrat-Infested Baltimore,' warning that: It’s a vibrant city, just don’t let
it vibrate you. And make sure to watch
Daniel talk about 'The Incredible Victimhood of Kamala Harris,'
where he asks: Will
the oppression of the privileged millionaire never end? [more...]
Baltimore: The City Progressives Ruined
By Lowell Ponte
Seeing its neighborhoods
today, where swarms of rats fatten on piles of garbage, it’s surprising to
learn that Baltimore was once the second most popular destination of early
American immigrants. Baltimore was the Silicon Valley of the early 1800s – a
vibrant and prosperous center of wonder and invention, home of our nation’s
first great railroad, the Baltimore and Ohio, and of the amazing new electronic
communications technology beside its tracks, the telegraph.
But, as Craig R. Smith
and I explain in our book We Have Seen the
Future and It Looks Like Baltimore, the magic soon faded.
Baltimore is only 40
miles from Washington, D.C., and during the Civil War it got rich on federal
government contracts. But after the war, as Americans moved westward seeking
opportunity, a poorer Baltimore’s businesses became more and more dependent on
government money. Its American Dream was overtaken by a Progressive Dream in
which business meant government business, with political strings attached.
While many newer cities
shook off corrupt partisan politics, Baltimore sank deeper into one-party
Democrat machine politics. More than six decades ago, one boss mayor, Big Tommy
D’Alesandro had fun by putting his eight-year-old daughter on the telephone to
talk with those begging favors. Smith and I recount the kind of thing she would
say: “You want that building permit for your project? Here’s what you need to
do for us.”
The little girl who
learned thug politics at her father’s knee went on to become Nancy Pelosi, now
Speaker of the House of Representatives, who continues to act as if politics is
war. She strives to remake America into a new Progressive Baltimore full of
spoils devoured by rats – Democ-rats.
As entrepreneurs fled
from Baltimore, what remained were the poor. Italian-American bosses have been
replaced by African-American boss-politicians who take Washington money to keep
a sinking welfare state afloat. Baltimore is now among the murder and heroin
capitals of the United States, a perfect picture of where the Progressive Dream
takes a society.
Riots erupted in 2015 after
the death of a drug pusher in police custody and charges were filed against
four officers. Stores were looted – especially liquor stores and pharmacies for
their drugs. More than 200 police were injured by thrown stones and bottles
after being ordered by Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake not to resist or arrest
the rioters, arsonists, and looters. In effect, she gave the order to let
Baltimore be robbed and burned.
“We also gave those who
wished to destroy space to do that as well, and we work very hard to keep that
balance,” the oh-so-Progressive Democratic Mayor Rawlings-Blake later explained
to reporters. Since 2015, many other Progressive cities have in varying degrees
likewise given in to the mob.
This is what the recent
clash between President Donald Trump and powerful Baltimore Congressman Elijah
Cummings is all about. Cummings during the riots stood quietly amid the looters
smashing the windows of a liquor store, yet he did nothing to stop them.
They were, after all,
Cummings’ voters. The mob was simply taking the next logical step – not waiting
for Democrat politicians to rob businesses with confiscatory taxes, but just
stealing private property themselves without the usual political middle man.
The mob was accustomed to getting what it wanted for free.
A vestige of the
greatness of Baltimore remains, especially in Johns Hopkins University, where
President Trump’s Secretary of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Ben Carson
earned world fame as a surgeon. In 2015 the world thrilled to images of Pluto
from the New Horizons spacecraft – designed and flown by scientists not at Cal
Tech or Houston’s Johnson Space Center, but at Johns Hopkins University’s
Advanced Physics Laboratory in Baltimore.
If its addiction to
government were cured, Baltimore could again become a great global center of
technology, healing, innovation, and the American Dream. But first, Baltimore
needs to be “woke” from its long Progressive nightmare.
