No, The SCOTUS Ruling on Abortion Doesn't Affect
California Gun Laws
You would never know it from the reaction of Joe Biden and Gov. Gavin Newsom, but
the U.S. Supreme Court's decision on Friday
about the Texas abortion case didn't overturn Roe v. Wade. It dealt with arcane legal precedent over who can sue and
be sued – what is called "standing" – and the constitutionality of
Texas's law is far from settled. On Saturday, hopefully because Newsom hadn't
yet read or understood the decision, he announced he would
now use the ruling to help Californians enforce gun control laws. [more...]
Biden Collapsing as Dem Governor
Declares Pandemic Over
By Steve Turley
Colorado's Democrat governor is defying bumblin' Biden by openly declaring that the
pandemic is officially over. People have had it with the lockdowns and the
mandates, and as far as the heavily Democratic state of Colorado is concerned,
they're moving on. In an interview over the weekend, Colorado Governor Jared Polis declared that the COVID emergency is
over. He said that if people aren't vaccinated, it's "their own darn fault"
if they get sick. Well, what do you know? A Democrat who recognizes the role of
personal responsibility. Now, while the Democrat governor did reiterate that as
far as he was concerned, local jurisdictions could institute their own mandates
if they so choose, the state would stay out of it. As far as the state
government is concerned, the pandemic is over, the emergency is over and
whether people are vaccinated or not, that's their choice. [more...]
Policymakers Should Wake Up to Telehealth's Benefits
By Sally Pipes
While the negative consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic are too
numerous to count, there has been at least one bright spot in this unfortunate
episode - telehealth's widespread adoption. Since the beginning of the
pandemic, more Americans have received care remotely than ever before. That
trend has been helped along by a long list of state and federal waivers aimed
at reducing regulatory barriers to accessing - and practicing - telemedicine.
Unfortunately, many of those waivers have expired or will do so in
the near future. [more...]
Spielberg's 'West Side Story' Misses the Mark
By James Hirsen
Remakes of iconic films are rarely able to match, or even come
close to, the level of artistry, entertainment value, and outright magic of
their original movie counterparts. This hasn't stopped "new"
Hollywood from continuing to give it a try. Steven Spielberg is the most recent
one to have a go at it. Just released is Spielberg’s remake of directors Jerome
Robbins and Robert Wise's 1961 enduring musical film classic "West Side
Story." Spielberg may be wishing that he had chosen a different flick to
try and reconfigure. The legendary director's remake, which bears the original's
same name, has come up short at the box office. [more...]
Groundbreaking Win in Battle Against Palestinian Antisemitic
Propaganda at Toronto District School Board
By Christine Douglass-Williams
Antisemitism at the Toronto District School
Board has led to a backlash that the Board undoubtedly did not expect. It was
high time that the largest school board in Canada, and the fourth largest in
North America, faced accountability regarding its use of public funds to
promote a pro-Palestinian agenda as part of its "equity" and "diversity"
program. The Board’s actions go back to Operation Guardian of the Walls in May and
climaxed with the targeting of a Jewish school board trustee who was taken to
the woodshed by the Board for pointing out a disturbing incident of
antisemitism displayed by the TDSB’s equity advisor. [more...]
