As Gun Sales Soared, the Number of Violent Crimes Committed with Guns Plummeted

By Dr. John Lott

With violent crime soaring over the last two years, Americans want a solution. Over and over, President Joe Biden and gun control advocates frame violent crime as a gun problem. Relying on public health researchers, articles such as this one in the Atlantic and in local news stories this week point to increasing gun sales as the cause. But reported gun crimes fell in 2020, so the writers ignore the obvious explanation for rising crime, that law enforcement isn’t being allowed to do its job. [more...]

Will Biden Go Against the Majority of Americans Who Want Solar Made in the USA?

By Kenneth Rapoza, China Expert/Industry Analyst for the Coalition for a Prosperous America

A majority of registered voters in a recent poll said they want a domestic solar industry, not one reliant almost fully on imported solar cells and panels from China. Sadly, if you’ve ever driven by a house with a rooftop covered in solar panels, they were probably made by Trina Solar or some other Chinese manufacturer. If you've ever driven by a massive utility power plant with double-sided solar panels gleaming in the sun, it is near 100% certain that every solar cell in those solar modules, and even the solar panels themselves, were imported from Asia. Sex and Blasphemy in Pakistan

By Daniel Greenfield

In Pakistan, Aneeqa Ateeq, a 26-year-old woman, has been sentenced to be "hanged by her neck till she is dead" over a “blasphemous” WhatsApp status. The death sentence for the woman was apparently brought on by “hand-drawn” cartoons of Mohammed and Aisha. Mohammed infamously “married” Aisha when she was only six years old. The precise age at which he then raped her is the subject of some debate among Muslim clerics, but is generally localized at an age that would have seen Mohammed serving decades in an American prison. The Pakistani judicial system, which is based around the brutal codes of Islamic sharia law, refused to specify any more details about the cartoons except that they involved "derogatory, disgraceful, immoral filthy comments/ remarks/ representations in respect of the sacred name. White Privilege is Real, but Not in the Way the Left Thinks

By Prof. John Ellis

"White privilege" is an idea that has only recently risen to national prominence. It amounts to a nasty accusation: Whites have undeserved advantages that they have stolen from "people of color." But history says something quite different: The most important factor in relative white prosperity is the fact that some profound changes in human life that gave us modernity began with them. [more...]

Obamacare Enrollment Blitz a Bad Sign for Future of US Healthcare

By Sally Pipes

The Biden administration has been quick to pat themselves on the back for record-breaking exchange enrollment. But the main reason Americans have flocked to the exchanges is that the federal government is lavishing taxpayer money on them to do so - even those who are relatively well-off. That Americans need to be bribed to purchase exchange coverage is yet more evidence of Obamacare's dysfunction. By padding exchange enrollment in this way, the Democrats are accelerating many of our healthcare system's most destructive and unsustainable trends. [more...]

Mourning the Passing of Meat Loaf

By James Hirsen

Marvin Lee Aday, more famously known as the rock star Meat Loaf, passed away recently at the age of 74. He was one of the best-selling musical artists of all time. Meat, as he liked to be called, was the musical performer on more than 100 million records that were distributed worldwide. He actually held traditional religious views that placed him at odds with many current entertainment industry figures. He grew up singing in the church choir, studied the Bible, and attended a Christian college. His faith influenced his work, with many of his songs containing Christian concepts. [more...]
