Elon Musk Takes Over Twitter
By Steve Turley
Ultra-billionaire and free speech champion Elon Musk has
begun taking over Twitter. It was just announced that the Tesla CEO has taken a
9.2 percent stake in Twitter, purchasing over 73 million shares worth nearly 3 billion
dollars. And as such, Musk is now officially the largest shareholder in the
company. Musk’s 9.2 percent stake is quadruple the 2.25 percent stake that the
founder, Jack Dorsey, has. He owns four-times worth of Twitter stock than its
founder owns. 'Free speech is essential to a functioning democracy. Do you
believe Twitter rigorously adheres to this principle?' asked Musk. 70 percent
of respondents responded 'No,' and keep in mind that Elon Musk conducted this
poll on Twitter. [more...]
Elon Musk - Free Speech is Essential to a Functioning Democracy
When Elon Musk took on Twitter, saying that "the social
media platform was failing to adhere to the principles of freedom of
expression," many wondered what's up. Then on Monday, it was reported that
Musk had put his wallet where his mouth is, buying nearly a 10% ownership of
Twitter - a stake worth $3.6 billion and more than four times larger than
founder and director Jack Dorsey's position. There is wide speculation that
Musk might seek more than a board seat to gain control of Twitter so as to make
it a truly free speech platform. He has said numerous times that he is "a
free speech absolutist." Well, it's about time that a wealthy American had
the courage to take an overdue step to roll back cancel culture and censorship
and promote freedom of expression. After all, the Founders gave freedom of
expression, along with freedom of religion and assembly the foremost position
in the First Amendment of the Constitution for a reason. [more...]
The Taliban's Greatest Asset Isn’t Opium... It’s Our Foreign Aid
Over two decades the U.S. and its international partners poured
billions in humanitarian aid into Afghanistan. Much of that aid went into the
pockets of the Taliban. After Biden’s retreat, the Taliban have consolidated
control over Afghanistan. And over all the hungry children, the girls deprived
of an education, and all the other sob stories that kept a river of private
charity and taxpayer money flowing into a hellhole in which nothing ever got
better. At an aid conference hosted by the UN, the UK, Germany and the Islamic
terror state of Qatar, which backs the Taliban, $2.4 billion was raised for
Afghanistan. The hosts had demanded over $4.4 billion which would have been the
largest amount ever raised for any nation. The Biden administration kicked in
another $204 million. [more...]
Disney Now Caught in its Own Mousetrap
By James Hirsen
Disney has painted itself into a corner. The predicament in
which the entertainment media giant now finds itself is one that is self-made.
It is also one from which the company is unlikely to escape unscathed. Some of
the policies implemented and statements recently made by a number of Disney's
top-level executives have created a backlash from all sides of the ideological
and cultural spectrum. And the whole thing may wind up being one of the worst
public relations disasters in the history of corporate Hollywood. [more...]
Understanding the Progressive Mind
All self-styled revolutionaries are criminals in the making.
Everyone in Washington understands the basic causes of
inflation. If you print more money than you have, real assets like gold to back
it up, you devalue your currency and make everything cost more. If you declare
war on fossil fuels, shut down pipelines, close vast oil fields like Anwar, and
don’t approve drilling licenses generally, you cause the price of everything to
go up, because virtually everything requires energy to produce. If you spend
vast amounts of government money inducing individuals not to work, employers
will raise wages to entice them to work, and that, too, will cause prices to go
up. It’s not rocket science. [more...]
Biden Got 255,000 'Excess' Votes in Fraud-Tainted Swing States in 2020
Biden received hundreds of thousands of "excess" votes
in Democratic-controlled areas in the 2020 election, according to an academic
study on voter fraud that suggests the push to relax voting standards created
new opportunities for electoral mischief. John R. Lott Jr., the man behind the research,
teased out those numbers by comparing Democratic-dominant areas to
Republican-dominant places over the past two presidential elections,
particularly in places where claims of election fraud were reported in 2020. Looking
at six swing states, the data he crunched found that voter turnout in
Republican areas increased from 2016 to 2020 while voter turnout among
Democrats dropped - except in places where voter fraud was claimed. [more...]
