Egyptians Erupt Against Obama's Favorite Islamist Regime

During Sunday's "60 Minutes" joint interview with President Barack Obama and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Obama boasted that "You know, when it comes to Egypt, I think, had it not been for the leadership we showed, you might have seen a different outcome there." It’s hard to disagree with the president. His administration contributed to the turmoil now gripping Egypt and leading to what some observers on the ground there have characterized as "a complete state of collapse," to quote Al Jazeera. Under Obama’s self-described "leadership," his administration promulgated the false image of the Muslim Brotherhood as "moderate Islamists" (an oxymoron if there ever was one). [more...]

The Jeb Bush Illegal Drug and Liquor Distributorship at Andover

In 2006 at my 30th Harvard Reunion, during a casual conversation one evening, a classmate told me about his years at Andover. Out of the blue he told me this story: Jeb Bush and one other fellow student back then ran an illegal drug and liquor distributorship on the Andover campus. When the heat started coming down, Bush ratted out the partner to the school authorities and saved his own skin. Jeb got away with it, was never caught, never punished, graduated unscathed and went on to the University of Texas at Austin. To this day no one outside the Andover community knows about this illegal activity. The media is apparently unaware of it. Through three statewide campaigns for governor of Florida, it never came up. Socialists Hope for Renewed Links between Occupy and Unions

Teachers unions were active behind the scenes of the Occupy Wall Street protests. New York City’s United Federation of Teachers provided storage space. The Chicago Teachers Union was "front and center" with Occupy Chicago. Now socialists hope the potential east coast dock workers strike will strengthen the bond between radical Occupy activists and Big Labor. [more...]

Obama's Recess Appointments

Last Friday’s opinion by the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals was a profound blow to Big Labor’s aspirations to achieve card check through use of regulatory action, especially after the re-election of President Obama and recent decisions by the pro-labor NLRB to extend Big Labor’s political money pump. Card Check, Big Labor’s most coveted prize, is their only true means to survive and avoid extinction. Big Labor not only needs favorable NLRB decisions to allow Card Check-type benefits through ruthless corporate campaigns, but it also needs unfettered use of membership dues to influence politicians and maintain its grip on public sector employees while it rebuilds its membership in the private sector. The President, through recess appointments of radical members, was determined to pay back his Big Labor buddies for their major role in his re-election. The recess-appointed NLRB members have been intent on carrying out this mission. [more...]

Can Sarah Palin Reboot and Mount a Comeback?

It will be difficult if not impossible. IF - and that depends on whether or not she could win in Alaska at this point - Palin ran for and was elected to the Senate from Alaska, she could re-emerge as a political player. But she traded in her reformer brand for "reality show" fame and fortune... and others would do well to learn from her missteps. [more...]

SAG Awards Alter Hollywood's Prospects

When it comes to Academy Award predictions, the current season has been suffering from a bout of Oscar confusion. "Argo" has received seven Oscar nominations from the Academy, including a best picture nom. The same prestigious organization has snubbed Ben Affleck in the director’s category.

The Directors Guild of America (DGA) has given Affleck a director’s nomination but has skipped over “Silver Linings Playbook” director David O. Russell. However, the Academy did give Russell an Oscar nomination. Kathryn Bigelow was ignored by the Academy for “Zero Dark Thirty” and yet the film was honored with a best picture nomination. As a general rule movies are unlikely to win best picture Oscars when their corresponding directors fail to garner nominations.

With the Academy having given "Lincoln" twelve nominations, the film up until recently had been viewed as the frontrunner for the best picture award. However, things have changed to a great extent in the Oscar race, partly as a result of events that took place on Sunday night at the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards, a pre-Oscar awards show in which members of the actors union honor their peers and profession in a ceremony, which is closely watched by Hollywood filmmakers, studios, and production companies. Al Qaeda, North Africa and Militant Islam

Why Algeria’s Hostage Crisis is a Sign of a Hidden Threat

Almost a week ago a group of militants associated with the so-called Al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM) ambushed an Algerian oil and natural gas site on the Eastern region of the Saharan desert bordering Libya. The group then took workers hostage, especially foreigners (as U.S. workers). The group claimed it did the assault as retaliation against the Algerian government for allowing the French army to fly over the North African nation during their military operation against Islamic militants in northern Mali. Within hours, the Algerian army stormed the oil site and freed many of the hostages, killing almost all of the militants. However, make no mistake about it; this rather bizarre incident was a calculated attack by AQIM that should call into question the motive behind it. This attack is mainly a symptom of greater security instability in the region - chiefly, the rise of militant Islam and their systematic attempt to overthrow powers and take-over nations. [more...]

NBC Laments ‘Upper Class Has Just About Won’ Against Labor Unions

The Detroit News recently reported that union membership has declined five-tenths of a percentage point - 11.8 to 11.3 - in the workforce. “Total union membership fell by about 400,000 workers to 14.4 million. Teachers unions were among the hardest hit, with the ranks of public school teachers and educators falling sharply,” it noted. The thinning union ranks are blamed to state budget cuts which have resulted job losses for teachers and other public sector employees. The AP report did not mention that some teachers are choosing to walk away from their union. But that’s exactly what’s happening in Wisconsin. [more...]

Fiscal Realists Must Publicly Identify Public Sector Unions as the Core Problem

The problem with the current slate of Republican politicians is a failure to communicate. The GOP has become its own worst enemy. They don’t think they can play the bully card, because the mainstream media is in Obama’s camp. Although this may be accurate, this should not prevent them from utilizing a “big tent” approach to reach Americans and educate them by exposing the public sector unions’ misinformation and lies. Conservatives must illustrate the socialistic agenda of big labor and their allies, and explain that the problem with socialism is socialism, all while using professionalism, ethics and integrity. After applying this approach against the SEIU in the face of overwhelming odds and emerging victorious, I feel confident that this strategy will produce results. [more...]

Benghazi, Accountability and Why America is on its Last Legs

The Benghazi disaster is a perfect example of why our nation is failing. These hearings were an opportunity to hold our officials accountable. This is the kind of thing that can stop the collapse of our nation. The hearings on Benghazi, with Secretary of State Hillary Clinton as the star witness, are nothing more than a joke. There was no attempt at finding the cause or holding anyone accountable on the part of the Democrats or most Republicans. It was a show put on so they could say they had investigated, but in reality they only want to maintain their power. All they did was blame others - in this case George W. Bush and a lack of funding seem to be the scapegoats of choice. [more...]

Obama Ignores Hollywood Violence

When Vice President Joe Biden met with film, television, cable, and video industry lobbyists to discuss efforts to curb gun violence, some thought that new ideas were sure to emerge from the dialogue. Little came of the discussions though, and a possibility exists that the power players knew in advance that some kind of a fix was in. As representatives of the entertainment industry arrived at the White House, Hollywood hands were noticeably empty of any new proposals. President Obama had put forth a promise for a broad dialogue and far-reaching response to the gun violence issue. However, despite Obama’s subsequent rolling out of 23 executive actions, which were purportedly intended to address school shootings, the president instead skirted the Hollywood component of the gun violence problem. [more...]

Piers Morgan on Gun Control

The anti-gun crowd is increasingly frothing at the mouth with their hysterical attacks on the 2nd Amendment - including a bizarre parsing of the words “bear arms” to claim that while guns may be protected, the right doesn’t extend to ammunition. Really? A gun without ammo is essentially a club. Wouldn’t the founding fathers have articulated the “right to bear clubs” instead of “arms” if that was the intent? None of the so-called journalists leading the fight against America’s freedoms has been more rabid in their rhetorical assault on the Constitution than CNN’s Piers Morgan. First he demeaned the Constitution as a “little book.” Now, he has asserted that reliance upon guns to protect Americans from our own government is ridiculous because our leaders have access to nukes and could simply kill us all. Talk about destroying the village to save it!  [more...]

Second Term Priorities

What will be President Obama’s Second-Term Priorities? Will his Assault Weapon Ban pass Congress? Will the GOP correct itself and be an effective check on the administration? Why has America’s Leadership Class betrayed the American people? Tune in to the Fox News Channel at 5:25 PM ET on Sunday and watch POLITICAL INSIDERS. [more...]

Columbus School District Employees Investigated for Changing 311,000 Final Grades

The New York City Department of Education has been catching heat from transportation unions lately over a decision to solicit bids for transportation services for the first time in years, in an effort to curtail runaway costs. The district has not sought "significant" bids for student transportation services in 33 years. That means it’s probably been using the same companies for years, without competitive bids to naturally control rising costs. And those costs are increased every year because the companies use highly-paid union drivers. [more...]

Gradualism: The Islamist Strategy for Victory

One of the mistakes that the West makes is that it doesn’t listen to what the Islamists are saying. If only we listened, we could hear their strategy. In November 2011, Sheikh Yousef al-Qaradawi, the top Muslim Brotherhood theologian and arguably the most influential Sunni cleric in the world, called on Muslims to embrace “gradualism.” The doctrine of gradualism is successful because we fail to appreciate the ability of the Islamists to be skillful political strategists. Gradualism is an intelligent form of jihad based on pragmatism, patience, long-term planning and self-evaluation. [more...]

2013 Golden Globes: A Melding of Awards and Politics

Sunday evening, from the ballroom of the Beverly Hilton Hotel, the yearly Hollywood ritual of awarding Golden Globes played out. The Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA), the liberal organization behind the Globes, has scant credibility within the entertainment industry itself. However, the Globes are considered valuable by executives, studios, and other film and television related businesses, particularly in terms of its public relations effect and potential impact on Academy Awards voting members.

In an apparent attempt to limit the influence of the Globes, for the first time in its history the Academy moved up its Oscar nominations announcement so that the Golden Globes ceremony would instead trail. The HFPA includes both film and television awards and gives separate nominations for the drama category and comedy or musical category, allowing for more celebrity nominees to be present in the audience. New York City Schools Admit They Spend $6,900 Per Student - On Bus Transportation
By Kyle Olson

The New York City Department of Education has been catching heat from transportation unions lately over a decision to solicit bids for transportation services for the first time in years, in an effort to curtail runaway costs. The district has not sought "significant" bids for student transportation services in 33 years. That means it’s probably been using the same companies for years, without competitive bids to naturally control rising costs. The Formidable Islamist Minority in America

A summary of polls about the ideological makeup of the Muslim-American community shows that the majority is moderate, but there is a formidable minority influenced by Islamist doctrine. A significant number are refusing to give answers or are still figuring out where they stand on issues like terrorism and Sharia Law. The number one question is how many Muslim-Americans support terrorism. A 2011 Pew poll found very little support for Al-Qaeda, with only 2% viewing the terrorist group very favorably, 3% somewhat favorably and 11% somewhat unfavorably. About 70% view Al-Qaeda very unfavorably, an increase of 12% since 2007. [more...]

Obama Teams Up With Big Business to Destroy Middle Class

President Obama is a unique breed of socialist. He is a hybrid socialist/fascist. He understands that he needs "cover" to destroy America. He needs the support of famous billionaires like Warren Buffett and credible fat cat corporate CEOs like Jeffrey Immelt of GE to convince the masses that he is not out to destroy capitalism. He needs to show that rich people are on his side, that these rich guys agree with him that tax increases on the rich are "fair." And the rich fat cats of big business will be glad to help him, as long as they share in the spoils. [more...]

Democrat Election Map in 2014 Likely Dooms Gun Control in the Senate

While liberal Democrat Senator Dianne Feinstein (CA) pounds the drum for gun control and the Obama White House seeks to capitalize on a tragic shooting for an anti-gun political advantage, it might be wise to heed the words of ESPN college football analyst Lee Corso: "Not so fast, my friend!"

Despite an all-out assault on the NRA and the 2nd Amendment by the mainstream media in the weeks following the horrific shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut, the NRA remains as popular as it was BEFORE the shooting. The push for banning weapons of ANY kind seems to be gaining no traction at all with the general public; and the American people are voting with their pocketbooks with record levels of guns and ammo being sold in December, 2012... even in the "bluest" of states.
