Early
Oscar Predictions

The
86th Academy Awards voting process has begun. Until the nominations are
announced on Jan. 16, 2014, Hollywood will be holding its collective breath.
Provided below is a short summary of what you might expect to hear on that
date. The highly emotional and compelling "12 Years a Slave" is the
favorite for Best Picture, with "Gravity" hovering nearby in the #2
slot. In addition, "American Hustle" is a lock for a nom. "Hustle"
has a cast of Oscar and critic favorites and is inspired by a true story from
the recent past, a concept that Academy members are quite fond of and one that
is reminiscent of last year’s "Argo." "Nebraska," a unique
take on aging, and "Captain Phillips," a real-life pirate action
thriller, are likely to receive nominations as well. Other movies that could
garner nominations include "Her," "Inside Llewyn Davis," "Fruitvale
Station," "The Wolf of Wall Street," "Saving Mr. Banks,"
"Philomena," "Blue Jasmine," "August: Osage County,"
"Dallas Buyers Club," and "The Book Thief." [more...]
Obamacare - More Like
Obamacaid
Walk
into a physician’s office that you don’t know and tell them you have Medicaid.
See how far you get. Odds are you won’t get very far with the front desk
attendant let alone see a doctor or a nurse. The reason for that is because
most doctors don’t take Medicaid. It just doesn’t make financial sense. You see
when you have a government run healthcare plan like Medicaid where there is a
defined budget, the government must start to reduce payments to physicians to
make up for wasteful spending everywhere else. When governments reduce
payments, doctors opt out of Medicaid. According to Merrill Matthews, director
of the Council for Affordable Health Insurance Obamacare will eventually be
like Medicaid. [more...] Watch Dr.

My New Year's Resolutions
By
Joe
Messina
I
resolve to hold my feet to the fire to push, poke, and prod myself and others
around me to get this country back to "Liberty and Justice for All."
All people, any color, any size and ethnicity should be able to pursue their
dreams. I resolve to hold my elected officials' feet to the fire
to do what they said they were going to do when they ran for election.
I resolve to make sure every legal vote counts by shining a light on those who
think that any person on American soil with a heartbeat has the right to vote.
They don’t! Our founding fathers didn’t give up their property, family and
lives for us to spit on the Constitution. Join me in a New Year’s resolution
to ensure that: We the people of
the United States, in order to form a more perfect union, establish justice,
insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the
general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity.
God Bless and Happy New Year! [more...]
Obamacare
Provides Unfair Advantage to Big Labor
By
Dave

Virtually
unnoticed and ignored by the media is the fact that big labor benefited
tremendously from the deal struck last week to avoid the
"catastrophic" fiscal cliff. The President abandoned his own concept
of fairness, which of course is nothing more than a hypocritical one way street,
in order to reward his big labor buddies and to ease the pressure they have
asserted. The President clearly understood the displeasure of big labor with
respect to Obamacare, and realized that he desperately needed to throw them a
bone, and a big one at that! [more...]
