Tesla Steals the
Thunder
As
of Monday morning, Elon Musk’s Tesla Inc. hit a new milestone as it passed
General Motors to become America’s most valuable automaker. The electric
carmaker also surpassed Ford Motor Co. a week earlier, and next up is Honda
Motor Co. At about $51 billion in market capitalization, Tesla’s rise to the
top has little to do with the less than 80,000 vehicles it delivered last year
and is more a reflection of investors betting on Tesla and Musk to dominate the
market for electric cars. Tesla’s popularity has grown significantly since it
introduced its first electric vehicle, the Roadster, in 2008. As the company’s
technology and design improved, and as the auto market began to adopt more
electric cars, investors began seeing the potential in Elon Musk’s vision.
While still unprofitable, Musk has pledged a massive increase in upcoming sales
as the company prepares to release the Model 3 later this year, a much more
affordable car than its predecessors. [more...]
The Trump/China 100-Day
Plan on Trade
Last
Friday, Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross announced that the US and China have
agreed to establish a 100-day plan on trade. The big news it that both the
President of the United States and the President of China agree that trade
imbalances are a big problem. But will this 100-day plan be effective or just
more talk? This agreement is important because the establishment keeps
rejecting the fact that trade deficits cost jobs and growth. The fact that both
U.S. and the Chinese government are in agreement on trade imbalances further
marginalizes the "know nothing" establishment. [more...]
The New Trump World
Order
The world has dramatically shifted. American foreign
policy is new.
It’s decisive. It’s based in
morality. It values human dignity. It will not abandon first principles. It
recognizes red lines in the sand and holds dictators and scoundrels readily
accountable. Indeed, the old Obama
foreign policy of “leading from behind” is gone, relegated to that
terrible “ash heap of history” that President Reagan made famous in his
memorable speech to the British Parliament, House of Commons, in London, in
1982. Yes, that old, stale, weak, and leaderless Obama foreign policy has
joined other profoundly defective policies, erroneous ideas, and costly
mistakes in western civilization’s “ash heap of history.” In the new Trump world order, America leads
the world once again. [more...]
Trump Bombed Syria and
that’s Unconstitutional?
By
Joe
Messina
Many
times in the past, “war” or “protective action” has been taken by Presidents on
both sides of the aisle. Were they all wrong? Korean War, Vietnam War, and
there was the “undeclared” War on France from 1798 to 1800. Syria was just one
of 125 more “wars” or “protective actions” that took place. Though some say
bombing Syria was unconstitutional, the War Powers Resolution of 1973 gives the
president the power to commit troops anywhere he likes for 90 days. Section
2(c) provides that the president’s power to initiate military action is limited
to “(1) a declaration of war, (2) specific statutory authorization, or (3) a
national emergency created by attack upon the U.S., its territories or
possessions, or its armed forces.” And it also authorizes the president to
introduce military force for up to 90 days for any reason at all. Then he must
seek congressional approval to go on. [more...]
Trump Russian Scandal
Blowing Up on the Dems
It’s
becoming clear that President Trump was right when he claimed Obama spied on
him. This story is on the precipice of turning into the biggest scandal in
modern political history. This is Obama’s Watergate - only much worse. Back in
February, I identified an obscure Obama aide by the name of Ben Rhodes. I
pointed out that Rhodes was the main culprit behind some very bad things while
in the Obama administration - from the Iran deal, to the U.N. censure of
Israel, to the Cuban deal. Well guess what came out last week? Obama’s former
National Security Advisor Susan Rice unmasked the names of Trump aides under
surveillance and gave the names to none other than the infamous... Ben Rhodes.
There’s that name again. [more...]
Hollywood Liberals
React to Missile Strike on Syria
By
James
Hirsen
The
morning after the missile strike on Syria, co-hosts of ABC’s “The View” Joy
Behar and Sunny Hostin provided a legal analysis on the subject. Behar and
Hostin displayed what appeared to be a newfound appreciation of the U.S.
Constitution, invoking the founding document to assert that President Donald
Trump’s military action was unlawful. Curiously, the Hollywood left has
consistently supported candidates who have advocated some of the identical
policies of the Trump administration. Democratic presidential candidate Hillary
Clinton herself called for bombing Syrian airfields during an interview mere
hours before President Trump called for the same. Hollywood liberals and their
leftist allies in the mainstream media seem to have forgotten that former
Secretary of State John Kerry boasted in July of 2014 about the Obama
administration cutting a supposed historic deal, which purported to have
removed chemical weapons from Syria. [more...]
