Corporate
Tax Reform Should Benefit Domestic Companies
As tax reform becomes a major focus in Washington,
Congress faces a unique opportunity to fix a situation that has long favored
multinational corporations at the expense of U.S. companies. Doing so could
level the playing field for American companies while also delivering an extra
$1 trillion in tax revenue over the next decade. Currently, domestic American
corporations are required to pay U.S. taxes on all of their worldwide income.
In a rather unfair contrast, however, multinational firms are only required to
pay taxes on foreign income after their profits are brought into the United
States. Unfortunately, taxation on “foreign” profits can be avoided for decades
because large companies can still use the money without appearing to return it

A once great institution is literally in the process of
destroying itself. For the longest time the National Football League was the
top drawing sport on television. Now it looks as though it is willingly
abdicating its ratings throne. In the season just prior to the current one, 34
of the top 40 televised sports games were NFL football match-ups. Come the fall
of 2017, however, the NFL’s popularity took a severe hit and so, too, did the

almost 20 percent, while the television networks have reportedly lost as much
as 500 million in advertising dollars. [more...]

that if continued will cause economic and demographic doom, as is happening in
Europe and Japan. The Millennials – Generation Y born from around 1984 to 2000
– are the reason, according to a 2017 study. [more...]
‘Every Female in the
Press Corps Knew’ About Conyers
A
sizable chunk of the press corps knew about Congressman Conyers. They knew
about it for years. And while they were trumpeting their anti-Bush and
anti-Trump pieces, they said nothing. "Don’t get in the elevator with
him, you know, ... every female in the press corps knew that, right, don’t get
in elevator with him," said Cokie Roberts. Roberts is political
royalty. And, as usual, nothing was said. And now she's acting as if the
belated revelation is an act of courage, instead of a disgraceful and belated
effort. [more...]
