The Mass Shooting in Uvalde, Texas Calls Us to Spiritual and Moral Revival, Not the Infringement of Our Second Amendment Rights

It goes without saying that mass shootings, like the one in Uvalde, Texas, are always accompanied by emotional appeals for gun control, as though we don't already have extensive gun control laws and as though guns are the problem and not the criminals and deranged people who go on killing sprees. Before tragedies such as the loss of 19 lives at the Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas become politicized, we are called to grieve and pray for the families and community affected. Then we are called to ask whether existing gun control laws already on the books are being enforced. It is important to enforce existing laws before we pass new laws. We do not ban automobiles or driving because we have accidents and pileups that take many more lives every year than gun violence. [more...]

Michael Moore Demands End to the Second Amendment

Michael Moore, Hollywood’s favorite leftwing propagandist, went on MSNBC to opine on the horrific elementary school shooting in Texas that left 19 dead and called for an end to the Second Amendment, and said the founders never would have included it in the Constitution if they had knowledge of bullets. What? Spoken like a true propagandist. If we want to stop school shootings, if we want to protect children from random acts of violence, if we want to save our society from murders at the hands of the murderous minded, we must address the root cause - sin. Trade remedies helped U.S. manufacturers survive being swamped by Asian overcapacity, protected domestic labor markets, and never led to the devastation and disruption the opposition warned about if imports were curtailed. Solar and steel are two cases in point and are the most well-known. Kitchen cabinets are another sector that’s expanded due to trade remedies. For solar, there is potential for more tariffs. A California company named Auxin Solar is behind a new trade case against four Southeast Asian nations. Auxin claims Chinese companies are circumventing anti-dumping tariffs imposed on them for the third time in 2018 by increasing exports out of Southeast Asia. Imports from these four countries accounted for around 80% of all solar cell and solar module imports in 2021. [more...]
