Lessons from Ferguson

What do I know? I'm just a middle class white guy. I was raised to respect property... respect police... never say "F--- the police"... never desecrate the American flag... never burn down stores in my own neighborhood... love my country... believe in the "American Dream"... study hard, work hard and good things will happen. And funny enough, my life has worked out pretty well. Maybe there's a lesson there for the Ferguson protesters.

I've watched the proceedings in Ferguson from August until the verdict was read on Monday night. The prosecutor (and jury verdict) just declared all of my original gut instincts to be fact. How did I know all of that, back in August? I educated myself. I read. I listened. I watched. I wasn't biased. It was all right there for anyone to see... back then. I predicted the police officer would never be indicted... back then. This is not brain surgery. You only have to use common sense - think for yourself and ignore rabble-rousers trying to stir up trouble and profit from crisis and racial strife... like Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson and the Black Panthers. The truth isn't black or white. It isn't conservative or liberal. It’s based on evidence and fact. It was clear to me from the first days after the shooting - the police officer was justified. The Original Employer Mandate Lawsuit

On October 1, 2013 I filed a lawsuit against four components of the Obama administration regarding the illegal cancellation of the employer mandate. The predicate of my claim to standing was the fact that I paid attorneys' fees and invested my time, energy, and resources to be sure that my orthodontic business was in compliance with a law that I didn’t agree with. Speaker Boehner filed suit on the employer mandate as well, claiming institutional standing. I wish him the best of luck with his case and glad to see that he joined my efforts, although it is more than one year later and we are already at the level of the 11th Circuit Court. If we are given standing on our case, the House will be required to discontinue its case. One of the prerequisites of pursuing litigation is that the House would be unable to do so if there is a private case that achieves standing on the same subject, the employer mandate. [more...]

Oscar Season Picks

It's that time of year again, the Oscar season, that is, and the Hollywood campaigns are in full swing. The Academy requires a film to be released prior to the end of the year in question in order to qualify for an award, and because of this a slew of Oscar-seeking cinema is just about to hit the theaters. Interestingly, to compete for an Academy Award, movies are also required to be up on screens for a full week within the year of consideration, which means the last chance for any would-be Oscar contender to be released is on Christmas Day. Consequently, this year Santa will be delivering a sizable sack-full of film debuts that deal with not so jolly subjects, the reason being these are the types of movies that are considered by critics to be more Oscar worthy. Undocumented?

If I understood the President correctly, the 4.4 million immigrants who just got their "get out of jail free card" are no longer considered illegal; they are simply called the UNDOCUMENTED. The President, as usual, referenced a young woman who had been in the U.S. illegally - I mean UNDOCUMENTED - since she was 4 years old. Apparently Mom and Dad were also illegal, or rather, UNDOCUMENTED. She is now a college student working on her third degree. A very admirable story. She beat the system and now can come out of the shadows. She will not be able to vote, for now, nor will she be able to have access to Obamacare, for now, but there is always the ER. Time and the realization of who she will vote for will change all that. [more...]

Sheriff Believes 'Criminal Activity' Occurring at Taxpayer-Funded School Sex Conference

Believing there may be some "criminal activity" going on at a taxpayer-funded school sex conference, the local sheriff is seeking to shut it down. Sheriff Tom Bergin says he's reached out to the Clatsop County District Attorney because he believes "there may be some criminal activity at the conference," according to KOIN. The Oregon House of Representatives education committee may also look into the conference that reportedly taught students "how to access cybersex and even were encouraged to Skype each other while masturbating." Our Emperor and Chief

Just like Hitler, Stalin, and Mao Tse-tung before him, Mr. Obama has been openly laying out his plan in his speeches across the country - in his words as dictated by his teleprompter. On many occasions he reiterated that he lacked the legal authority to take action on the immigration issue. He admitted that there were presidents before him that broke that law and that he was going to hide behind them and break the law himself... because he's a "take action" kind of guy. Hello, Mr. President, are you now saying that you have the right to break the law because others before you have done it? [more...]

Are Our Political Leaders Making the U.S. Into a Banana Republic?

What is President Obama's real political agenda with his executive action on immigration? Will the Congressional Republicans overreact or cleverly deal with the White House? Where is their immigration plan? Why can’t Keystone pass the Senate when so many Americans favor it? Why does the media give the administration a pass when they overinflate the Obamacare sign-up numbers? This – and much more – will be discussed by the POLITICAL INSIDERS. [more...]

Is Obama Weak on Foreign Policy?

During his tenure so far, Obama has used air power to oust Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi, surged American forces in Afghanistan to satisfy the U.S. military, re-entered the civil war in Iraq, and extended the bombing to Syria. He found and killed Osama bin Laden, which George W. Bush was not focused enough to do for seven years, and also expanded Bush's drone wars against terrorists in Pakistan, Yemen, and Somalia. Obama's "pivot to Asia" really means beefing up U.S. alliances and military presence to run a neo-containment policy against a rising China. Finally, Obama is augmenting military forces and conducting more NATO exercises in Eastern Europe in response to Russia's mischief in Ukraine.

By historical standards, Obama is a practitioner of militaristic activism. Yet, he is not the first president to suffer from a misplaced label of weakness. Remember George H.W. Bush? George W. Bush's father won two smashing military victories, the invasion of Panama and the massive Desert Storm, in only four years as president -- only to be deemed a "wimp" anyway. The elder Bush intervened more and on a larger scale for his time in office than did Ronald Reagan, who had the most macho image of any president Teddy Roosevelt. [more...]

It Doesn't Always Stay in Vegas

As I wait in breathless anticipation for the announcement to be made by Barack Obama about his new illegal immigration policy, I can't help be amused at the irony of the chosen venue, Las Vegas. Not because he used Vegas in 2013 to outline his blueprint for immigration legislation with no follow through, nor because of his infamous comment: "you don't blow a bunch of cash in Vegas when you are trying to save for college." I'll even cut him some slack when he chastised corporate America for holding conferences in Vegas in bad economic times. What strikes me most is that Las Vegas is a city of games.  There is action to be had for both the high and the low roller.  To win, however, you must play and play well, exhibiting honed skills. Obama comes to Vegas playing for some of the highest stakes in the country, and maybe the world, but unfortunately for him - and us - he comes to Vegas without those gaming skills honed. [more...]

The Amnesty Debacle

President Obama utilizing an executive order to pass immigration reform - and in so doing, providing amnesty to thousands of illegal immigrants - is a ploy, which is done for no other purpose than to secure votes for the Democratic Party, and is in fact an illegal amnesty and violates the U.S. Constitution and separation of powers. Unfortunately, the Republican Party is not devoid of guilt in this matter. It appears neither side understands this is not a debate about politics or social justice, but rather a debacle for legal American citizens. The two sides are playing a game of chess to court the vote of the Hispanic community. [more...]

Palestinian Bloodlust Unleashed

Two Palestinian thugs, armed with cleavers, knives and a gun, invaded an orthodox synagogue in West Jerusalem early Tuesday during morning prayers, and proceeded to murder four Jewish worshippers in cold blood. At least a dozen others were wounded. Three of the murder victims were American citizens. The fourth was a British citizen. Three of the victims were also rabbis. Israeli police, arriving at the scene of the horrific massacre and exchanging gunfire with the Palestinians as they tried to escape, shot the murderers to death. But the horrible images of the slain and wounded worshippers with blood everywhere, drenching holy books, prayer shawls and walls of the synagogue, will live on for a very long time. Big Companies are Making Big Deals Again

Recent financial woes reshaped the U.S. economy, but big companies are making big deals again, especially in health care, technology and the media industry.  Monday was a tipping point following the acquisition between two big pharmaceutical companies and then with another multi-billion dollar takeover between two oil field service companies. It's the biggest year on the books since 2000. The conditions are ideal, with borrowing costs low and share prices rising, and because deals don't happen unless people are feeling good, it seems that corporate leaders are optimistic with the times, with foresight on growth. November's "Down Under" Theft of Your Bank Account

On November 16, the world of banking and money was officially flipped upside down because of actions taken by the G-20 nations meeting "down under" in Brisbane, Australia. People deposit their money in banks for safety. But on November 16, this gathering of 35 national leaders turned your bank into one of the most unsafe places to put your money. Without warning, these G-20 leaders agreed that the money in your bank account can be seized to pay bank debts. And some of these leaders - especially President Barack Obama - have already begun imposing billions of dollars in regulatory penalties on banks to squeeze money out of them to grow their governments. More Students Say #ThanksMichelleObama

Many students are targeting their anger at First Lady Michelle Obama who championed the effort to create more "healthy" school lunches. "Mr. Speaker, the Federal food police now control what American children are permitted to eat in public schools," the First Lady has said. "We just can't leave it up to the parents," U.S. Rep. Ted Poe (R-TX) said in a recent speech on the House floor. See some of the photographs taken by students of questionable lunches in this program... [more...]

Stars of Band Aide Reunite to Fight Ebola

The original Band Aid was a charity-induced supergroup founded in 1984 by Bob Geldof and Midge Ure. Geldof was the lead singer of the Boomtown Rats in the late 1970s and early 1980s, and Ure was the frontman of Ultravox. The celebrity musicians joined forces for a noble cause, and that was to raise money to fight hunger in Ethiopia. The release of the song "Do They Know It’s Christmas?" was the primary vehicle used to generate financial contributions. Some are wondering whether the new version of Band Aid will turn out to be like the original, falling short of its loftier goals. Time will tell, but doing something beats the alternative. Congress vs. the President - An Election Mandate and Next Steps

The elections sent a clear message to Washington. In fact, I think it gave a very powerful and historical mandate to political leaders. Given that mandate, Congress will have the wisdom, the courage and the strength to follow through on the 2014 election mandate. I anticipate these are the next steps... [more...]

Why Does Obama Hate African-Americans and Jews?

On this past Election Day, President Obama got 89% support from black voters and 66% support from Jewish voters. Why are African-Americans and Jews voting against their own self-interest? As an American (and a Jew), I couldn’t think of a more dangerous or damaging plan towards African-Americans or Jews than the one being carried out by Obama. Obama’s plan to give amnesty to millions of illegal aliens will not greatly affect my life as a successful businessman. However, it will it crush the lives of millions of poor and lower income black Americans, especially those striving and working hard to escape poverty and achieve the American dream. After six years of Obama’s presidency, African-American unemployment is more than double that of whites. Obama’s policies haven’t provided jobs (obviously), but has caused record levels of welfare, food stamps, disability and other handouts from government.  And how about Jewish Americans? Israel’s right to exist is of paramount importance to most American Jews. The list is long of things Obama has said and done which indicate that he is no friend of Israel. [more...]

Policy Impacted by Politics

Old videos of Jonathan Gruber, MIT economics professor and architect of Obamacare, speaking in detail about the Affordable Care Act recently set off a political firestorm. These speeches offered some much needed insight into how policy is impacted by politics - and the ultimate motive behind the structure and plans of the Affordable Care Act. Despite Gruber calling American voters "stupid," I do not think this true. The American people are not stupid; they have been ignorant. It is time we educate ourselves, so that we may take the necessary steps towards socio-economical self-empowerment and to then be capable of taking responsibility for this nation's present state and potential future. I think a shift in the American people and their governmental power paradigm is not only essential, but crucial for our sustainability as well as for the sake of us remaining a substantial nation respectable by world standards. [more...]

Is Lying Just a Part of Being a Democrat?

Do you really think the White House knew nothing of what Professor Gruber said? You know - that the healthcare bill was drafted to hide the fact that it was a tax and that they were banking on the ignorance of the American people's blind trust in the president? Do you really think that Mr. Reid, Mrs. Pelosi and Mr. Biden didn't know how they were going to have to prostitute themselves to sell this to the American people? They launched a campaign to mislead us into thinking that Republicans hate women, Republicans hate minorities, and that, simply put, Republicans only love the one-percenters. The sad thing about all of this is that it's this Administration and this group of legislative Democrats who think the American people are too stupid to figure it out on their own. Their actions and words prove it. They would be found guilty in a court of law for all the lies they've told.

Recently, prompted by a reported telephone call from the UN requesting monetary assistance in the fight against Ebola, Geldof gathered together an impressive group of stars for a reboot of the original Band Aid, which he is calling Band Aid 30. Celebrity participants include Bono, Ellie Goulding, Sam Smith, Chris Martin, One Direction, Emeli Sande, Rita Ora, and Ed Sheeran and a new version of the initial Band Aid charity single has been recorded.

The lyrics to the original "Do They Know It's Christmas?" were revised for the Ebola fighting cause. Words in the song now make reference to the way in which the deadly disease can be transmitted from infected loved ones. A new line, "Where a kiss of love can kill you and there's death in every tear," takes the place of the former lyric, "Where the only water flowing is the bitter sting of tears." Some are wondering whether the new version of Band Aid will turn out to be like the original, falling short of its loftier goals. Time will tell, but doing something beats the alternative. [more...]

Architects of Obamacare Deserve Prison

Let me read you the definition of "fraud" straight from the dictionary: Fraud: Act or course of deception, an intentional concealment, omission, or perversion of truth… Willful fraud is a criminal offense which calls for severe penalties, and its prosecution and punishment (like that of a murder) is not bound by the statute of limitations. Now let’s take a look at how Obamacare was sold. Almost one year ago, I asked: "Is President Obama Too Big to Jail?" I was referring primarily to the crime of fraud and misrepresentation used by Obama and his socialist cabal to sell Obamacare. [more...]

Big Bank Bail-Ins vs. Bail-outs: Bad News in Disguise

In the November 10 London Telegraph, James Titcomb reports that the chairman of the international Financial Stability Board Mark Carney, Governor of the Bank of England, reveals how future bank problems will be handled. His plan is that future problems in banks that are "too big to fail" will never again end in government bailouts using taxpayer money. Instead, as Craig Smith and I explained in our latest book, Don't Bank On It! The Unsafe World of 21st Century Banking, governments will employ "bail ins" forcing what he calls "creditors" of various kinds to bear banks' losses. This seemingly good news, however, conveniently neglects to reveal who all these "creditors" are. It turns out that they include mere bank employees, whose income and pensions may get a "haircut" to cover bank shortfalls. Those stuck paying for bank shortcomings may also include customers - depositors who do not understand that when they opened a bank account, they were in effect lending their money to a bank and getting in return only an IOU. The U.S. Should Give China Breathing Room to Rise Peacefully

As President Obama visited China, he insisted that the U.S. welcomed China's rise and wanted that country to play a bigger role in regional and global affairs; but that rhetoric is largely hokum. The United States has been either the premier superpower or the only superpower in the world since World War II, exercising an outsize role in global and East Asian Affairs. In world history, many times rising powers have had tensions or conflict with status quo or declining powers, because the latter resist a more equal relationship with the new "upstart." America is no exception. [more...]

The Car Intifada

Hamas leaders have urged their followers to use their cars and knives to spill as much Jewish blood as possible. Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas called on Palestinians to stop Jews from visiting the Temple Mount in Jerusalem, the holiest site in Judaism as well as the location of the Islamic Al Aqsa complex, by using "all means" necessary. The calls for violence by top Palestinian authorities have been enthusiastically answered by thugs in the streets.  Six Israelis have been killed in terror attacks in the last thirty days – not by rockets this time, but by cars and knives wielded as murder weapons against Israeli soldiers and civilians alike, including women and children. Net Neutrality - Obamacare for the Internet?

Net Neutrality made news headlines as the President calls for regulations on the Internet to keep "a free and open Internet." BUT... will these new regulations actually keep the Internet free and open?  Or, will they do just the opposite?  Will they discourage innovation?  Will they discourage new technology investment?  And, will they discourage new job creation?  Net neutrality, by definition, is a benign-sounding term for the regulation of the Internet by the Federal Communications Commission.  It's an effort to micro-manage those companies that provide Internet services to Americans.  Rather than treat the Internet as an "information service" under Title I of the Communications Act, implementing Net Neutrality under the President's recommendation would treat broadband services as a Title II "utility" such as a phone service - thereby, preventing Internet Service Providers (ISPs) from managing their infrastructure carefully to maximize customer services and economic value. [more...]

The Fate of the Internet is in the Buffer Speed Zone Regulations

The controversial subject of net neutrality first became a hot topic earlier this year, after a federal court ruled in favor of broadband companies, allowing them to make deals with content providers, who would pay for faster internet connections. Since then, The FCC’S been trying to come up with new internet regulations. On Thursday, the FCC presented a proposal for new rules that would dictate how broadband companies are allowed to treat cyber traffic. This critical piece of prospective regulation has drawn the attention of the world’s largest companies and a wide range of politicians. [more...]

If Dennis Rodman Can Befriend Kim Jong-Un, Does That Mean it's Possible for the U.S., too?

Dennis Rodman, former NBA superstar who lost his sports hero status when he was kicked out of the professional association for drug use a long time ago is still a star in North Korean dictator, Kim Jong-un's eyes, as well as a hero in his own. Rodman wants some credit for the release of an American who was being held captive in North Korea. Rodman says he helped secure Kenneth Bae's release thanks to a sincere letter he wrote to the North Korean leader. Kenneth Bae, American captive, had been held for two years on charges of trying to overthrow the government. The other prisoner, Matthew Miller, was more recently convicted of spying on the North Korean government with intent to gain access to and expose the inside story of an infamous North Korean prison, rumored to be incredibly inhumane. Both men were officially released this past Saturday shortly following the Director of U.S. Intelligence's secret trip to North Korea to make the release of the two men happen. The decision to let the two Americans go is the latest evidence that suggests the young leader may have used their release as a tool to test out his first interactions with the Obama administration since taking power. Is Barack Obama the Worst President in American History?

After my recent appearance on the Fox News Channel's morning show, Fox and Friends, Donald Trump, appearing after me on the same show, asserted that my ranking of Barack Obama 34th out of 41 presidents rated - in my book, Recarving Rushmore: Ranking the Presidents on Peace, Prosperity, and Liberty - had "zero credibility" because Obama was the worst president in American history.

With America's ahistorical orientation and restrictive two-party political system, people on the right of the American political spectrum reflexively and viscerally believe that the current left-of-center president is the worst in history; left-leaning people had the same opinion of George W. Bush.

Yet in the American two-party system, the parties behave like two giant corporations that are alone in one market -- that is a duopoly. They pretend to fiercely compete on the surface but really collude under the table. This fact is hard for the American public to grasp, given the harsh public rhetoric and posturing by both parties and a 24/7/365 cable news environment that feeds on such rhetorical controversy. But the evidence that this sub rosa collusion among the parties exists is that the policy records of "liberal Obama" and "conservative" Bush are very similar.

They both started and escalated needless wars, restricted civil liberties in the fight against terrorism, and increased the federal government's role domestically. As an example of their parallel actions at home, they both expanded health care coverage, increased federal intrusion into education, bailed out or socialized industries, doled out goodies on a grand scale to special interest groups, and spent like drunken sailors on domestic programs.

Yet, historians do not share the view that Obama and Bush are the worst presidents in American history. They usually pick on people like James Buchanan, Franklin Pierce, Herbert Hoover, and (very unfairly) Warren Harding as being the bottom dwellers. I might disagree with many of such choices by historians, but I don't disagree that Obama and Bush aren't the worst. [more...]

Election 2014 - America at a Crossroads

Big Labor, the Obama Administration and far left ideologues, through a tenacious ground game spearheaded by the carnivorous big labor "gasping dinosaurs," are attempting to devour the minds of the culpable American public. They understand they can manipulate a large percentage of a gullible population through misconceptions, misinformation, attacks and deception, all under the guise of "social justice" as taught in Saul Alinsky's "Rules for Radicals." Like Alinsky, they are masters of identifying people or groups that are susceptible to their "social justice" rhetoric, and thus are easily influenced. They prey upon the less sophisticated and less experienced part of the population at all levels to foment class warfare and politicize their utopian dream of heaven on earth. However, their goal is to destroy the American free market system and replace it with socialism. They live by Alinsky's teachings that "The Ends Justify the Means" and "Ridicule is Man's Most Potent Weapon." In this case the means and weapons are any available tactics to steal elections whether it be through intimidation, coercion, bribe or fraud. [more...]

Enjoy a GOP Landslide

I was the first political commentator in the country to predict a GOP landslide in today’s Congressional elections. I made the prediction at Fox News and at Blaze in early October. Polls now confirm a GOP wave emerging and even Democrat pollsters are now predicting a devastating loss for Obama and his policies. The million dollar question is "why?" [more...]

Election Day with The Political Insiders

What will happen with the elections today – and why? Will the GOP win back control of the Senate? What will happen to the final two years of the Obama Presidency? This – and much more – will be discussed by the POLITICAL INSIDERS. [more...]

We Win... Then What?

I, for one, am petrified. My prediction is that we take the Senate and keep the House. Pretty easy. Then what? Here is my concern: as in the Middle East, we helped to defeat many regimes and get the "bad guys" out of power. We allowed the people to run themselves and look what happened. We left a void of power, direction and leadership, and in stepped ISIS after only a few short years. Well, let's see... if the votes aren't stolen, bought, or electronically altered, I see the Republicans taking/keeping both houses. They will undoubtedly act like pent-up college kids who run amok after finally moving out of daddy and mommy's house. I don't see any leadership. Unless the Republicans actually have a strategy, and the leadership to carry it out, we lose everything in 2016. Has anyone seen a strategy to this point? [more...]

Isn't it Time We Make Voting Easy and Voter Fraud Difficult?

As the 2014 midterm elections go into the history books, isn't it time we make voting in America free, fair, honest, and easy?  Isn't it also time that we resolve to make voter fraud difficult and rare? In a recent op-ed piece in The Wall Street Journal, Hans von Spakovsky, a Heritage Foundation senior legal fellow and former Federal Election Commission commissioner, indicates that many groups and individuals appear to be working hard to prevent better election integrity.  Their arguments seem to range from such efforts to improve election integrity discourage minority voting, to voter fraud is so insignificant that nothing needs to be done. Yet, the evidence of voter fraud is widespread. [more...]

Obama Means to Import Voting Ranks

Democrats are busy redrawing a new country in the center-right United States, where for decades polls have consistently found that self-described conservatives outnumber liberals by 40 percent to 20. To win, President Barack Obama and his progressive comrades are using what one of the pioneers of their political party created two centuries ago. In 1812, the Democratic-Republican Governor of Massachusetts Elbridge Gerry redrew the lines of congressional districts in his state. The Boston Gazette noticed that the odd new shape of one district resembled a salamander, so they nicknamed his re-mapping a Gerrymander. [more...]
