Disneyland Gets Ready for a 'Grand' Re-opening

By James Hirsen

While Walt Disney World in Florida and other Disney parks have already re-opened, the iconic California theme park that launched the others has been a literal ghost town for over a year. Employees and fans galore have been anxiously waiting to hear when California's major theme parks would be brought back to life. Well, there's a date now. The Disneyland Resort, which includes Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park, are set to re-open at the end of April. Unfortunately, everything is going to look wildly different from the pre-COVID Disneyland. In order to comply with governmental requirements, Disney will manage attendance through a new theme park reservation system, which will require that all guests book dates in advance. Masks for guests over the age of 2 and requisite social distancing will also be a part of the re-opening plan. [more...]

We Need Greater Transparency to Improve the U.S. Healthcare System

By Wayne Winegarden

It is well known that lack of transparency in healthcare has led to massive and inappropriate profiteering by all kinds of healthcare actors, to the detriment of the true payors: patients, employers, and the government. Without a transparent health system, patients can be harmed when they decide to enroll in insurance plans that contain large deductibles or co-insurance payments or insurance plans that institute policies like accumulators which keep them in a perpetual deductible phase. Such harm is befallen upon patients because they don't know and can't estimate in advance their out-of-pocket costs due to lack of transparency. Transparency is also essential to ensure the intended outcomes of certain business practices meet the goals of the policy. [more...]

Requiring a Photo ID to Vote is Racist?

By Karen Kataline

How gullible must a person be to believe that it is racist to require every citizen to show a photo ID to vote? The media is "trumping up" another boycott by suggesting that people are furious at Georgia's recent new legislation that requires exactly that. Apparently, the recent news that Coca-Cola held blatantly racist "diversity training" for its employees telling them to be "less white" wasn't enough. Now they have to be boycotted for originating in the same state as this supposedly offensive legislation. "Woke," of course, is never woke enough. [more...]

Unintended Consequences of More Gun Control

By Nikki Goeser

As I watched the Senate hearing on gun control last week, I cringed at some of the gun control proposals promoted in the name of public safety. Many people want to "do something" to stop what some call "gun violence." I call it violence because I realize that violence is a behavior, not an object. Guns are used every single day in the United States to protect innocent lives. It is a point often overlooked by gun control proponents who choose to ignore justifiable defensive use of guns to protect innocent lives. I am a victim of a violent crime myself. My husband Ben was shot seven times and killed in front of me by my stalker. I never blamed the gun or pushed for more gun control because I realized that is not the problem.

Nikki Goeser wrote about her experience in her book, Stalked and Defenseless. She wants to save others from the suffering she endured after gun control laws left her defenseless. Nikki is the Executive Director of the Crime Prevention Research Center. [more...]

America in Free Fall Reshaping World Order

By Brigitte Gabriel

This past weekend, China and Iran, two countries who hate us, locked arms in a 25-year strategic deal that will undermine and weaken America in the Middle East, reshaping power and influence in the region. This deal will solidify Iran and China's military coordination including military training, weapons research and development and intelligence sharing. This deal, dubbed the "Comprehensive Strategic Partnership," will be a 25-year partnership between China and Iran which lays out a clear path for their partnership in the areas of defense, trade, economy, culture and security. The deal includes a $400 billion investment into the Iranian Mullahcracy which funds terror groups on four continents in exchange for oil.  Do you get it now, Biden and AOC? China has no intention of reducing its own oil and gas use. Meanwhile, Biden is letting Iran walk all over us. While Trump put tough sanctions on Iran, Biden campaigned on restoring the failed and dangerous Iranian nuclear deal. [more...]

Montana, a Prototype for Widespread Voter Fraud?

By Dr. John Lott

A mountainous, 2,600-square-mile region with a population of approximately 119,600 does not seem like your prototypical setting for machine politics. Yet a recent audit of mail-in ballots cast in Montana found irregularities characteristic of larger urban centers - on a level that could have easily swung local elections in 2020, and statewide elections in cycles past.

The Biden administration, the Democrat-controlled Congress, and the Democratic National Committee are collectively pressing to both nationalize, and make permanent, many of the extraordinary pandemic-driven voting measures implemented during the 2020 election -particularly mass mail-in voting.

Political leaders and prominent media outlets have dismissed concerns raised by critics that such measures invite voter fraud. But could the election in small-county Missoula call all that into question?

During the summer of 2020, the then-governor, Democrat Steve Bullock, issued a directive permitting counties to conduct the general election fully by mail. In the run-up to the election, a court also struck down Montana's law aimed at preventing ballot harvesting. Missoula, Montana's second most populous county and one of its most heavily Democratic, opted in to the universal vote-by-mail regime. In response, in October 2020, several county residents with experience targeting election integrity issues formed a group to ensure the legitimacy of the 2020 vote. The members contended that Missoula County had shown anomalies in elections past. [more...]

Keeping Law School Profs from Talking about Black Students' Low Grades Helps No One

By Dr. John Lott

The left has only itself to blame for the harm that affirmative action in academia does to black students. For decades, black law school students' LSAT scores have regularly been much lower than those of whites or Asians. At the University of Chicago Law School, I heard faculty say that over several decades there was only one time when the highest black LSAT score was above the lowest white score. The purpose of standardized tests is to predict how well students will do in college and law school. So, guess what? Students with much lower scores than other students don't do well. Some of the students are so overwhelmed with the material that they get little out of their classes. Others switch to softer majors that don't prepare them well for successful careers after college. Still others drop out with such low grades that they can’t get admitted to other schools that might be more at their level. [more...]

Minimum Wage, Maximum Damage

By Wayne Winegarden

If the fight for $15 minimum wage is successful, it will impose far more costs than benefits. Not only are minimum wage proponents distorting the population impacted, but they also fail to understand the economic trade-offs required. To understand the trade-offs, it is helpful to review the financials of a typical retail business, which is the sector where the vast majority of minimum wage workers are employed. Based on the average annual revenue of a small retailer ($262,092), and the average cost structure, a pro-forma financial statement of a small retailer looks something like Table 1, which illustrates that based on the current costs of running a retail store, the average small retailer earns about $43,000 in profits annually. Americans Need Courage to Defy Tyranny and Stand Up for Liberty

By Karen Kataline

If individuals, business owners and others would act according to their consciences, the growing number of self-appointed dictators around the country would be stripped of their de facto power. When people stand up for their own liberty, they are standing up for the liberty of their fellow citizens as well. That's a collectivist principle that works. The need to appear in a good light is often what stops people from acting on their aforementioned consciences.  Reasonably acceptable rhetoric?  When does a situation reach a crisis proportion such that we must dispense with petty judgements about "rhetoric" and address the clear and growing subjugation of a country? The price will continue to grow steeper because compliance to tyranny only brings greater tyranny. As that compliance continues, a growing number of people will forget, and some will never know what liberty was. [more...]

The Right of Exit is What Keeps Society Prosperous and Peaceful

By Antony Davies, Co-Author of COOPERATION AND COERCION

Those more trusting of government say that, despite government's flaws, it's better to trust important activities to coercion than to the vagaries of cooperation. And so, across the planet, we have governments controlling – in full or in part – health care, education, power generation, communication infrastructure, and all manner of other "essential" activities. Yet there is something more essential than any of these that we routinely leave to cooperation: language. The ability to exchange thoughts – from the basic and immediate to the complex and far-reaching – is more important than health, education, or anything else one might conceive. Because, without the ability to exchange thoughts with each other, we cannot bring any of these other things into being. [more...]

Border Crisis and Cancel Culture Destroying Dems as Populism Surges Under Biden

By Steve Turley

What's happening at the border is horrific, and the American people are increasingly horrified by it. According to Rasmussen, 73 percent, 3 in 4 likely voters, are concerned about the flood of migrants at the U.S.-Mexico border, with 48 percent very concerned. And 51 percent of likely voters oppose giving them amnesty. This is becoming Biden's Iraq and Hurricane Katrina combined! It's a non-stop political disaster of his own making, and he's been in office for only 60 days. To make matters even worse, Fox News is reporting that criminal organizations trafficking women, children, families, and single adults over the border have earned as much as $14 million dollars a day. It turns out that human trafficking is a multibillion-dollar industry. [more...]

Biden Could Stop the Border Breach if He Wanted to

By Cheryl Chumley

Biden is facing a crisis situation at the border, with a reported 13,000 - and growing - number of unaccompanied minors in federal custody right along the Rio Grande. And he could stop it. But he won't. He won't even agree that 13,000 unaccompanied children at the border is a crisis. During his campaign for the White House, Biden talked up how "we owe" illegals amnesty; how "building a wall will do little to deter criminals and cartels seeking to exploit our borders." ... Now Biden wants to tell them all to stay home? The only way Biden can stop the crisis is to first, treat it as a crisis - and quit putting his political hide as the priority. Second, drum up the law-and-order presence at the border. Third, make a few widely reported arrests of illegals already on U.S. soil. Fourth, talk up the benefits of a border wall, and build, build, build. And fifth, send those who arrive here illegally back to where they came from, back to where they belong. In other words: Act like Trump. [more...]

Biden Has Created a Deadly National Security Threat

By Brigitte Gabriel

Biden did not inherit a border crisis; he created it! He has not only created a humanitarian crisis but a national security threat that could prove deadly to Americans. Iran is capitalizing and seizing the opportunity at the border to smuggle its operatives into the U.S. We have captured up to 30 terrorists on the terror watch list who have come into the U.S. Terrorists from Iran and Yemen pose the major concern. Iran has a Hezbollah command center in the tri-states in South America and have been training people to blend in and cross into America for years. They look at this Biden administration as their four-year window of opportunity to smuggle their operatives here. They are working with the drug cartels to smuggle their people and they have helped the drug cartel as well with tunnel digging technology which Hezbollah has perfected in Lebanon. The Yemenis crossing the border are a part of the Houthi terrorist group funded and armed by Iran. Iran is trying to develop their operation in the U.S. in case the political situation changes in four years and America gets into a confrontation with Iran over their nuclear program.

Down the Path to a One World Religion

By James Hirsen

In 2016, a video released by the Vatican appears to indicate that different religions are all just assorted paths to God. In the footage, the Pontiff expresses that although faiths may be "seeking God or meeting God in different ways," we are all "children of God." Interfaith dialogue denies one crucially important reality; that being, there are incompatible fundamental distinctions between the deeply held beliefs of differing religions throughout the world. Because of this fact, it is impossible for religions to be combined or somehow blended together, without suffering the loss of the vital integrity of the respective faiths. [more...]

Dr. Seuss - a Racist?

By Karen Kataline

I find the twisted values and anti-American sentiments of the radical Left in this country to be deeply offensive and even dangerous, but I would never think of trying to force others to agree with me. Funny how that quintessentially American value is among those that socialists and communists hate most. If I advocated for the persecution or prosecution of America-haters, I'd be a raging hypocrite. Remember that archaic idea of hypocrisy? That intellectual honesty requires that one should hold oneself to the same standard to which he seeks to hold everyone else. It doesn't matter whether a growing number of self-appointed dictators suddenly think Dr. Seuss is a racist. They simply don't get to choose for everyone else. [more...]

Cable News is Collapsing as a New Network Society Rises

By Steve Turley

'The Post-Trump Cable-News Apocalypse has Arrived – CNN Hardest Hit.' This headline from Hot Air references a report on the imploding audience for the so-called Big Three cable networks. Fox News – which has experienced a dramatic drop in viewership since its election night fiasco – has managed to hold the decline down to single digits of late. Ratings for Laura Ingraham's show are down 9 percent; Sean Hannity is down 12 percent; Tucker's down 5 percent. But that loss hardly compares to the audience decline for CNN and MSNBC. [more...]

Biden Has Created a Border Mess

By Cheryl Chumley

Biden told wannabe border crossers to wait a bit - don't come just yet - and with that, opened the doors wide for border crossers. He created this mess. He's to blame. It was the caveat in his messaging that counted most. To the masses, the memo was: Don't worry, you'll get in. Eventually, you'll get in... And now there are 4,200 or so unaccompanied migrant minors in the hands of Border Patrol, many of whom have been shifted to Federal Emergency Management Agency oversight for sheltering and feeding. Which is to say: Taxpayers are paying. Which is to wonder: How many are carrying the coronavirus? [more...]

Forgetting the Founders

By Robert Curry, author of Reclaiming Common Sense

The American way is to lay claim to our unalienable right to liberty. According to the founders, our right to life and our right to liberty are not inherited, they are inherent; our unalienable rights are intrinsic to, and inseparable from, our nature as rational beings and moral agents. Claiming we Americans have our rights by inheriting them does not simply get the founders' understanding of rights wrong, it overthrows the American idea of government. We the American people are sovereign; in the founders' vision, ours is a government by, for, and of the people. [more...]

American Opinion of George Floyd Changes Drastically as Support for BLM Implodes

By Steve Turley

The city of Minneapolis – along with the entire nation – is bracing for the trial of former police officer Derek Chauvin. Chauvin has been charged with second degree murder and manslaughter in the death of George Floyd, which incited massive race riots in urban areas across the country. George Floyd’s death also sparked the ascension of Black Lives Matter as the premiere political movement of the far left. At the beginning, public sentiment soared for Floyd and BLM; now, it appears that support for both is crashing. In view of the upcoming trial and the rising tensions associated with it, the results of a new USA Today/Ispos poll came out showing a dramatic shift in opinion over George Floyd and BLM. [more...]

Unprecedented Government Spending

By Antony Davies, Co-Author of COOPERATION AND COERCION

The federal government has pumped $4.8 trillion into the economy over the past 11 months. Imagine what the U.S. would have looked like had the government just divided that $4.8 trillion among U.S. households. What would that have done? There are 123 million households in the U.S. Given income cutoffs, the stimulus checks have been going out to around 80 percent of those households. Had the government simply divided that $4.8 trillion evenly among the 80 percent of 123 million households, each would have received a check for almost $50,000. Now think about what the U.S. would look like right now if 80 percent of households had received a check for $50,000. For one thing, and for the first time in the history of the human race, a country would have entirely eradicated poverty. [more...]

America May Finally Be Corona-Weary

By Cheryl Chumley

A Morning Consult tracking poll just found that for the first time in a year, when the Coronavirus hit, more Americans than not feel comfortable eating at a restaurant, inside, at a table, seated among friends and strangers both.... with face masks, without face masks, what have you - but inside, and eating. If that sounds lame, it’s not. It shows America may finally be hitting the stage called Coronavirus-weary. [more...]

The Police De-funders Have a Lot More Cops Than the Taxpayers Whose Police They Want to De-fund

By Daniel Greenfield

Washington D.C. has the highest ratio of police to people of any major city in the country. There are 650 officers for every 100,000 residents in D.C. That’s 40% higher than any other major city in America including Chicago and Baltimore. It has a 58% higher police ratio than New York, more than double that of Boston, and triple that of L.A. But that’s nothing compared to the private police force dedicated only to protecting Congress. The Capitol Police, which has been in the spotlight since the Capitol Riot, has over 2,000 sworn officers. Pelosi’s private police force is the 19th largest police force in America. [more...]

TV Shows Push Gun Control Myths - in Sync with Biden

By Dr. John Lott

The Biden administration promised gun control groups that it will soon roll out a massive push for limits on firearm purchases and other measures. And the television networks aren't waiting to lay the groundwork for this effort. CBS is in a full-court press for gun control on its evening entertainment television shows. The bad guys are always white supremacists who use machine guns - supposedly AR-15s - to commit mass public shootings. Criminals in Mexico supposedly get machine guns from the United States. A father's desire to protect his family only leads to tragedy when his daughter gets into the gun safe and uses the weapon in a mass public shooting. And guns in the home pose a danger for children. Gun registration is necessary for solving crime. [more...]

Four Ways Socialism is Anti-Social

By Lawrence Reed

How did something so radically anti-social ever get the name, social-ism? The meaning of socialism is happy talk and sharing things even though under socialism there’s less to share and be happy about. It’s free stuff until the bills come due. It’s the welfare state, where the politicians get well and the rest of us pay the fare. It’s bread lines that bring us all together, somehow. It’s government ownership of the means of production so the economy can hum with the efficiency of the Department of Motor Vehicles. It’s when workers run the factories that somebody else invested in. It’s communal utopia where everybody gets an equal portion regardless of effort, until they all starve. Socialism is communal utopia where everybody gets an equal portion regardless of effort, until they all starve. Read Prof. Reed's book: Was Jesus a Socialist? [more...]

Biden's $1.9 Trillion 'Relief Package' is Short on Relief for Struggling Families

By Antony Davies, Co-Author of COOPERATION AND COERCION

Biden is driving his stimulus plan - a plan that features all the worst ideas of an unshackled Democratic party - through Congress with relative ease. The Republican party seems uninterested, or maybe even unable, to offer any kind of meaningful resistance. President Biden estimates that his plan, which would approximately have the same effect as doubling the Earned Income Tax Credit, will cost around $2 trillion. And on this point, the Republicans are derelict. If even one of them had an ounce of curiosity and access to a calculator, he would be able to figure out that for $2 trillion, the government could cut a check to every household in the U.S. for more than $16,000. If the government only cut checks to the poorest one-third of households, each would receive almost $50,000. [more...]

Trump Transforms the GOP into the New Patriot Party at C-PAC

By Steve Turley

It's no wonder Trump said that he has no plans to start a third party, and he made it clear as to why: we already have the Republican Party; we don't need to start a third party! As I listed to Trump's speech at C-PAC, I realized that the question over the last two months – will Trump start a new Patriot Party or will he support Republicans primarying RINO establishment figures? – was a false dichotomy, because Trump is currently turning the GOP into the Patriot Party! [more...]

MSM Racism is Not Representative of the Rest of Us

By James Hirsen

I've been thinking a lot about the discussion that's been taking place in the nation about race. I don't believe it is at all representative of the way most people in our country feel, the experiences most people have had, or the direction most people want to go. While it has wrenched my heart, it has also jogged my memory and caused me to reflect on some of my own experiences. In sharing with you and you with me, I hope it might help us all get back to actually embracing the essence of our uniqueness and delighting in our differences. [more...]

5 Democrat Governors Should Face Involuntary Manslaughter Charges

By Daniel Greenfield

Governor Cuomo of New York is having a bad month, but it’s not because the Democrats and the media finally noticed that his order forcing nursing homes to accept infected coronavirus patients may have killed thousands of senior citizens: it’s because he's up for reelection in 2022. Democrats don’t know what to do with thousands of dead nursing home residents, but they’re pretty experienced at monetizing #MeToo scandals. And it’s a statistic that has the potential to not only take down Cuomo, but Governor Whitmer in Michigan, Governor Murphy in New Jersey, Governor Newsom in California, and Governor Wolf in Pennsylvania. [more...]
