The announcement by the Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Services (CMS) to move 50% of its non-managed care spending into Accountable Care Organizations (ACOs) and bundled payments coupled with the recent passage of Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act (H.R.2) the repeal of the so called 'doc fix' will lead to the end of private healthcare, narrow the range of medical services offered by physicians, and increase the cost to patients and taxpayers. It will not accomplish the goal of improvement of outcomes or increase access to healthcare for Americans. Instead, these changes will likely further decrease access for the sickest patients and decrease the quality of care for patients overall. If physicians and hospitals are now to be rewarded for positive outcomes, they will skew their services to healthier patients if for no other reason than to remain open. [more...]

The Baltimore Riots and the Future of America's Government

What is underlying the riots in Baltimore? Rock throwing, flyers distributed about anarchy and a purge, injured police officers, burning cars, subway stations shut down, a major league game cancelled - all part of a pattern of violence against local police after a black man died in police custody.  These events are similar to recent riots in Ferguson, Missouri.  Are they justified?  Mob violence is not justified.  Hurting innocent people is neither legal nor moral.  In Ferguson, the police officer was exonerated by local law investigators and a Federal investigation. Ted Cruz's (R-Texas) presidential campaign, a new era of GOP primary battles was launched.  In the past, the GOP establishment wing always handsomely funded their candidate. It was always the conservatives who were underfunded. Congress Must Recognize Jihad Genocide of the Armenians

One hundred years have passed. One of history's worst genocides still goes unrecognized. During a TV appearance on September 12, 2014, I alluded to the timeless Koranic injunction to wage jihad war against Jews and Christians, specifically, Koran 9:29, for the purpose of forcibly imposing a Sharia-based Islamic order upon them. I then provided a graphic, modern historical manifestation of this eternal Islamic "imperative": the 1915-19 jihad genocide of the Armenian, Assyro-Chaldean, and Syrian Orthodox Christian communities of Anatolia, and northern “Mesopotamia,” i.e., modern Iraq, by the last Caliphate - the Ottoman Caliphate.

Notwithstanding the recent horrific spate of atrocities committed against the Christian communities of northern Iraq by the Islamic State (IS) jihadists, the Ottoman jihad ravages were equally barbaric, depraved, and far more extensive. Occurring, primarily between 1915-16 (although continuing through at least 1918), some 1 to 1.5 million Armenian, and 250,000 Assyro-Chaldean and Syrian Orthodox Christians were brutally slaughtered, or starved to death during forced deportations through desert wastelands. The identical gruesome means used by IS to humiliate and massacre its hapless Christian victims, were employed on a scale that was an order of magnitude greater by the Ottoman Muslim Turks, often abetted by local Muslim collaborators (the latter being another phenomenon which also happened during the IS jihad campaign against Iraq’s Christians). I concluded my brief comments September 12, 2014 by noting, "We are only coming upon the 100th anniversary next year (i.e., 2015) of the Armenian Jihad Genocide." [Go here for the complete story...]

Is Obama Ready to Confront Iran Over Yemen?

The Obama administration, while showing willingness to cave in to just about every Iranian demand in the ongoing nuclear negotiations, appears to be flexing its muscles in the Yemen proxy fight between Saudi Arabia and Iran. The U.S. Navy aircraft carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt is headed toward the waters off Yemen from the Persian Gulf, escorted by the guided-missile cruiser USS Normandy. Its presence will add to the fleet of other American warships already there, including cruisers and destroyers, conducting maritime security operations in or around the Arabian Sea, Gulf of Aden, the Strait of Bab-el-Mandeb and the Southern Red Sea. If President Obama's track record of backing down in the face of Iranian demands in the nuclear talks is any indication, Iran does not have much to worry about. It might seem far-fetched at first, but computer programmers and analysts known as data scientists might very well be responsible for electing the next President of the United States.  How can that possibly be?  Analytics from your "data footprint" will help bring the most important and tailored information about a candidate's views and policy positions to individual voters based on the voter's interests and views.  For example, if a potential voter is interested in Second Amendment gun rights, analytics will tailor a message to the voter about a presidential candidate's gun rights position, not about the candidate's illegal immigration views.  Analytics will also help determine how many new voters will need to be registered to win a particular state that might currently be an electoral toss-up.  Analytics can also be used to identify potential new donors and micro-target the most appealing donor letter or online ad.  The list goes on and on. President Andrew Jackson's face would be removed from America's $20 bill and replaced with a woman's if legislation introduced in mid-April becomes law. This measure is by Democratic Senator Jeanne Shaheen of New Hampshire, the first woman in American history to serve as both a state governor and U.S. Senator. Her aim in re-facing our currency, Shaheen says, is "to point out the significant contributions women have made in U.S. history." Women have made enormous contributions on many sides of issues. So which women are to be put on our money – heroines of the right or of the left? The DOJ Forensic Nightmare

Justice Department officials have known for years that flawed forensic work might have led to the convictions of potentially innocent people, but prosecutors did not tell the defendants or their attorneys about these mistakes - even in many cases they knew were troubled. Instead of releasing the facts of these life altering mistakes, they only made them available to prosecutors in charge of affected cases. Federal authorities launched the investigation in 2012, but it was just over the weekend that they finally came clean publicly. As a result, hundreds of defendants nationwide remain in prison or on parole for crimes that might merit exoneration, a retrial or a retesting of evidence using DNA because FBI hair and fiber experts may have misidentified them as suspects.
