Antifa Humiliated at Portland Patriot Flag Event as Five Oregon Counties Vote to Secede

At a flag rally in Oregon City, just outside of Portland, Antifa radicals tried to stop a weekly event featuring hundreds of patriots gathered to fly flags honoring America. The sea of patriotism was intended to encourage Oregonians currently living in the shadow of the collapsing city of Portland to say enough is enough. Antifa groups quickly circulated a flyer online calling for their Marxist comrades to counter-protest the weekly flag-waving event near Clackamas Community College in the days leading up to the event. The chief political executive of the hell hole called Chicago is Lori Lightfoot, the latest in an unbroken, 90-year line of exclusively Democrat mayors extending all the way back to 1931. Under Lightfoot’s stewardship, homicides in Chicago increased by an astonishing 40 percent from 2019 to 2020 – a pattern that was seen in a host of Democrat-run cities after George Floyd’s death a year ago. And Chicago’s stratospheric homicide rate has continued well into 2021. In light of the fact that violent death has become a way of life in Lightfoot’s Chicago, it was nothing short of remarkable to hear her recently announce that "on the occasion of the two-year anniversary of my inauguration as mayor of this great city," she would be "prioritizing media requests from POC reporters," an acronym meaning "people of color" - rather than prioritizing the urgent need to get the city's murder rate under control. Democrats and much of the media are pushing to make permanent the extraordinary, pandemic-driven measures to relax voting rules during the 2020 elections - warning anew of racist voter "suppression" otherwise. Yet democracies in Europe and elsewhere tell a different story - of the benefits of stricter voter ID requirements after hard lessons learned.

A database on voting rules worldwide compiled by the Crime Prevention Research Center, which I run, shows that election integrity measures are widely accepted globally, and have often been adopted by countries after they've experienced fraud under looser voting regimes.

Of 47 nations surveyed in Europe - a place where, on other matters, American progressives often look to with envy - all but one country requires a government-issued photo voter ID to vote. The exception is the U.K., and even there, voter IDs are mandatory in Northern Ireland for all elections and in parts of England for local elections. Moreover, Boris Johnson's government recently introduced legislation to have the rest of the country follow suit. [more...]

Stephen Hawking Speaks from Beyond the Grave

Stephen Hawking's posthumously published book about the big questions was really a very poignant read for me, because in it Hawking not only reaffirmed the argument that he'd been making since 1988 in his book A Brief History of Time but in some of his then more recent popular books in which he kind of weighed in with the new atheists to say that there was really no need to invoke the god hypothesis to explain the origin of the universe; and Hawking acknowledged in this very last book which was published after his death that he had really come to the point where he no longer believed in God at all; he thought that the god hypothesis was an unnecessary hypothesis and that his ideas about quantum gravity could explain the origin of the universe without positing any pre-existing mind or creator or designing intelligence of any kind. The Democrats' Reichstag Fire

Democrats, who were perfectly comfortable with three months of violent riots attacking federal courthouses and police stations, killing scores of people, and causing billions in property damage - who had even raised bail money for the rioters so they could riot again - saw a golden opportunity in the January 6 Capitol protest. Immediately, they began describing the speech in which Trump called on his followers to primary weak Republicans, "an incitement to violent insurrection," in other words treason, comparing the event to such atrocities as the 9/11 attacks, Pearl Harbor, and even the Holocaust. A more appropriate comparison would have been to the Reichstag Fire. Four weeks after Hitler was elected chancellor in a democratic election, a Dutch Communist set fire to the Reichstag, which was the German Capitol. The Nazis seized on the incident to pass The Reichstag Fire Decree to attack its political opponents and create the legal foundations of the Third Reich. Democrats who had resisted calls for National Guard deployments when Washington was burning at the hands of Black Lives Matter rioters months before, now deployed 26,000 troops to Washington, D.C. at a cost of $500 million, without any evidence of a threat, imminent or otherwise.

Last Friday, anti-Semitic thugs attacked a Jewish family in Miami. Fortunately, a concealed handgun permit holder came to the rescue. You may not hear about many of these stories, but they occur all the time. And there are dozens of cases in recent years where concealed handgun permit holders have stopped what police say would have been mass public shootings. Those would make gripping stories. But don’t ever expect to see stories like this on entertainment television. For years, network television, ABC, CBS, NBC, and Fox, have refused to show even a single successful defensive gun use by a civilian. You would surely never know that people successfully use guns defensively some two million times a year. Instead, defensive gun use is shown to always goes wrong. Either the citizen ends up being murdered by the criminal without hurting any of the criminals, accidentally shoots a loved one, or is a danger to themselves and the police. [more...]

Why Do Most Countries Require Photo Voter IDs?

Americans keep hearing that there is no need to protect against vote fraud, that fraud is either non-existent or extremely rare. We hear that regulations, such as photo voter IDs, are unnecessary and will disenfranchise voters. Yet, the United States is not unique in having this debate. Virtually all of Europe and almost all developed countries require in-person voters to use photo IDs to vote. Indeed, out of Europe's 47 countries, only the United Kingdom hasn't required photo IDs to vote in their entire country, but that is about to change. Similar in-person rules exist for most developed countries. The vast majority of countries ban absentee ballots for people living in their country. While some point out that eight of Europe's 47 countries allow for proxy voting, where you can designate someone to vote on your behalf, the safe-guards used to prevent fraud are generally far more stringent than used for absentee ballots in the U.S. [more...]

Is Free Speech Important?

Free speech laws in Western nations have supported Christians in spreading the gospel throughout the world. Free speech is a special gift that is underappreciated by all of us. But historically, for most of 2,000 years, the church has had to survive without freedom of speech. Opposition to free speech began early in the history of the church. Shortly after the church was birthed, to preach in the name of Jesus was considered forbidden speech; it was considered to be hate speech that carried the penalty of imprisonment and sometimes even death. Take time to reread Acts 4 in which Peter and John performed a miracle in the name of Jesus. But the authorities were not pleased. For this the two were arrested. When asked to defend themselves, Peter boldly proclaimed that the miracle was performed in the name of "Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified... for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved" (Acts 4:10, 12). My Former Friends Have Joined the Fascists

Ignoring Trump’s alleged absence during the pandemic, while joining his "cult," is the accusation leveled at me in a New Republic cover story by Ron Radosh and Sol Stern, who have called their attack, "Our Friend, the Trump Propagandist." In their article, I am accused of writing three mindless books about Trump as I marched into the MAGA cult. Actually, I wrote two books – both of which were NY Times best sellers and neither of which the authors seem to have read. If they had, they would certainly have engaged a specific argument or two in order to make their accusation credible. They are appalled by my failure to embrace the Democrat lie that Trump was AWOL during the Coronavirus pandemic. At the same time, they are oblivious as to their own hypocrisy in giving the anti-Trump president, Joe Biden, a pass for blowing up the border in his first week in office and allowing an estimated 100,000 Coronavirus carriers to flood the country this year and infect his fellow Americans.
