Google's LaMDA Not as Smart as Some Think

Google suspended an engineer, Blake Lemoine, for claiming that a Google AI project named LaMDA has become "sentient." Google asserted that Lemoine had breached company confidentiality. But, in addition, Google disagreed with Lemoine that artificial intelligence at Google had achieved sentience. Democrats' Fearmongering About SCOTUS Gun Rights Decision is Baseless

"Lives are on the line," Biden warned after the Supreme Court held last week, in New York State Rifle & Pistol Association v. Bruen, that New York State's restrictive gun permit regime was unconstitutional. "This could place millions of New Yorkers in harm's way," New York Gov. Kathy Hochul claimed. Democrats and gun control proponents are now predicting disaster in New York and in the six other states (California, Delaware, Hawaii, Maryland, Massachusetts, and New Jersey) with restrictive "may-issue" concealed handgun laws. These states required that applicants for concealed carry permits must demonstrate "proper cause" - a good reason that would convince a government bureaucrat of one's need for a permit. The Army has stopped worrying about winning wars and is instead working to establish the "Army as a global leader in DEI" - Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. Can A.I. Flag School Shooters?

Red Flag Laws Will Lead to Gun Confiscations

Gun control legislation is winding through the Senate, largely on the wings of Democrats but floated, too, by a dozen or so Republicans who’ve seen fit to sign on to red flag laws - that is, the idea of courts stripping Second Amendment rights from those deemed dangers to themselves or others. These Republicans are politically mis-stepping; they have no business supporting red flag laws, which are unconstitutional seizures of God-given rights to protect self and family. The Second Amendment wasn’t put in place by the Founding Fathers as a provision for government - as a little slice of freedom for politicians, judges and medical professionals to decide who gets it and who doesn’t get it. Rather, the Second Amendment is a recognition of a right individuals in America already have from their heavenly Creator, as well as an accompanying stipulation that government is in place only to protect and preserve those inherent individual rights. What We Learned from the Latest China Hearing in Washington

China remains a hot topic in Washington with at least two commissions set up to discuss the country on a regular basis. This week, the Congressional-Executive Commission on China (CECC) heard from a State and Homeland Security department official on China's extra-judicial activities abroad. This means China spying on the Chinese diaspora in the United States, including what some in Congress referred to as professional-looking hit jobs against a Chinese lawyer in Flushing, New York who was one of the original Tiananmen Square activists. While the entirety of the June 15 hearing titled "The Threat of Transnational Repression from China and the U.S. Response" focused on these activities abroad – two things stood out. The U.S. is too weak to stop it, and on issues brought up by the Freedom House think tank, export controls to stop or slow the technological support of China's military-civil fusion (MCF) look better on paper than in practice. [more...]

Juneteenth Marked by Mass Shootings Across America

The media made much of Biden creating Juneteenth National Independence Day last year and the celebrations this year. Slavery is long since over, but black communities across the country remain in thrall to crime. It isn't "systemic racism" that threatens black people, but everyday violence that takes no holidays, that erupts just as regularly on Martin Luther King Day and on Juneteenth, and on streets named after Obama and Rep. John Lewis. Activists act as if the critical issue is a liberation from some nebulous external force, systemic racism, white supremacy, white privilege, or unconscious bias. It's been a long time since black people needed to be liberated from white people. The only meaningful liberation that still needs to happen on Juneteenth is a moral revolution. Proponents of prescription drug importation notched a victory last week. The Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee green-lit a bill that would enable individuals to import medicines from Canada in the name of lowering out-of-pocket costs. It's not something Americans should welcome or support. Drugs imported from outside the United States will always pose a significant safety risk. Why Biden's Planned Student Loan Bailout is Completely Unfair

Because we saved up and behaved responsibly, President Joe Biden will punish us. Nor is his plan fair to those who don’t go to college.

Last week, Biden forced taxpayers to assume nearly $6 billion in federal student loans for 560,000 borrowers. News stories announced the decision on forcing taxpayers to pay off the loans for others appears delayed until closer to the election. While some debt is likely to be paid off by taxpayers, Democrats will probably keep other borrowers locked in politically by continuing to freeze repayments and warning that Republicans will end that. [more...]

Rep. Ryan's Buy America Solar Bill

Legislation introduced by U.S. Representative Tim Ryan (D-OH) will boost U.S. solar manufacturing by closing a loophole in the Buy American Act (BAA). Currently, the federal government does not buy solar equipment, only energy via power purchase agreements (PPAs). The PPAs can be sourced from American companies to meet BAA requirements, but those companies are not required to use American-made equipment to generate that energy. Representative Ryan’s bill would close this loophole and require that energy purchased by the federal government’s PPAs be generated from America-made solar equipment. [more...]

Tampon prices are up 10% due to the rising price of oil affecting the cost of plastic and higher cotton prices due to mask manufacturing and the war in Ukraine. The Key to America's Survival

Cities coast to coast are experiencing record crime because of Democrat policies of defunding the police and lax law enforcement - an effort aided by billionaire George Soros who funds the campaigns of progressive district attorney candidates in select, often crime-ridden cities across the country. The Biden open border policy contributes significantly to this problem by having catalyzed a record surge in illegal immigrants - 2 million in 2021 - which include an unprecedented influx of human and drug trafficking criminals.

Biden’s opening salvo in reducing the production of oil and gas leading to the inflation of fuel prices are found in his very first executive orders to stop the Keystone Pipeline and immediately impose regulatory curtailment of the exploration, drilling, production, transmission, processing, and storage of oil and gas, specifically targeting the oil-rich outer continental shelf and Bering Sea, and all other public lands in the continental United States.

So, what are Americans to do now?
