There is No Firm, Sustained Support for Gun Control

By John R. Lott, Founder of Crime Prevention Research Center

A frequent talking point in the gun control debate is that Americans overwhelmingly support "common sense" gun control measures, such as universal background checks and red flag laws. The Biden administration referenced these surveys last month when it announced that $231 million will go to states that enact "red flag" laws and push gun control policies. These surveys are constantly invoked in legislative hearings and in the media. But surveys often compress complicated bills down to one-sentence summaries, and the results are often unreliable. [more...]

First-Ever House Select Committee on China Shows Washington's Worry

By Kenneth Rapoza

Two weeks ago, the first-ever hearing of the bipartisan House Select Committee on the CCP, the Chinese Communist Party, was held on Capitol Hill. It was a home run. It revealed how worried members of that new committee are when it comes to China. "We are investing in China... and that is feeding a lion that is going to one day eat us if we are not careful," said Rep. Blaine Luetkemeyer (R-MO). The hearing focused on ways in which the U.S. is trying to cope with China’s rise, with some warning the government against spending too much to "be like China." Chairman Mike Gallagher (R-WI) led a hearing that was hard to ignore or tune out as background noise. Gallagher’s first show for the House Select Committee on China was a hit. [more...]

Wokeness, Not Christianity, is the Reigning Mainstream Religion

By Mark Tapson

Another week, another spate of demonizing accusations against Christians for their heinous crimes against humanity such as the adoption of non-white children, the refusal to lie to children's parents about their school's anti-family agenda, and perhaps most egregiously, the thought crime of being "biblically-minded." Wokeness, not Christianity, is the reigning mainstream religion, and its rainbow banner of diversity, inclusion, and equity is a cover for its lethal hostility toward Christians and their "unsafe" morality. These hate-filled totalitarians want to abolish free speech and religious freedom, and drive Christians first from the public square, then exterminate them from the private sphere as well – make no mistake. [more...]

Medi-Cal Bad Idea for Golden State from the Start

By Sally Pipes

Gov. Gavin Newsom, D-Calif., is now learning that fortunes can change quickly in the Golden State. Less than a year ago, Newsom was celebrating a projected $100 billion budget surplus - a fiscal boon that prompted the governor and legislature to craft a budget exceeding $300 billion. Now, California faces a $22.5 billion deficit, leaving the governor scrambling for ways to tighten the state's monetary belt. He can start by calling off his plan to expand California's Medicaid program, known as Medi-Cal, to all undocumented immigrants. [more...]

Students Told They Were Too White for a School Play

By Martin Mawyer, President of Christian Action Network

A theatre production at Newton North High School in Massachusetts is now under federal investigation by the Dept. of Education after they barred white students from auditioning in a school play called "Lost and Found," stories about people of color. They claim the auditioning packet acted as a reserved space place for people of color who are vulnerable to support one another. If you can do this in a play, you can do it in sports, in choir or any school activity. [more...]

America's Crisis is the Universities

By Daniel Greenfield

Crime, treason, riots, open borders and our other threats are coming out of campuses.

The source of our social and political crises is the destruction of our educational institutions through a successful fifty-year effort by radical activists to purge conservatives and patriots from American academic faculties. This was followed by a massive reconstruction of the academic curriculum and the transformation of universities into one-party indoctrination and recruitment centers for the anti-American left. It’s time to recognize that this is an existential threat to America and to take action against it. That’s why we’re calling for the defunding of universities. [more...]
