Baltimore school district demands $32,130 to see employee travel records

One of the most effective ways for government officials to keep secrets is to make it too expensive for the public to discover them. EAGnews frequently submits Open Records requests to school districts, seeking public documents ranging from spending records, teacher evaluations and even e-mails.

Earlier this year, we published a series of stories titled, “Where Your School Dollars Go…” The intent is to give taxpayers a better idea of where their billions of school-related dollars go as the Education Establishment constantly clamors for ever-larger “investments.” We’re planning more stories this time around with at least one in every state. Obama's Indifference to the Islamic State Nightmare

Islamic State of Iraq and Syria ("ISIS," also known variously as "Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant" or simply the "Islamic State") is metastasizing throughout northern and western Iraq and swaths of Syria. It won't stop there. Jordan, Lebanon, Israel and other parts of the Middle East are within its sights. Ultimately, its pathological leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi warned, ISIS is after the United States. "Our last message is to the Americans. Soon we will be in direct confrontation, and the sons of Islam have prepared for such a day," he said last January. More recently, an ISIS spokesperson declared "we will raise the flag of Allah in the White House."

President Obama, after months of dithering, finally authorized air strikes against ISIS, which are helping to slow down their advance against the Kurds in northern Iraq and to provide space for urgent humanitarian relief to besieged minority groups under threat of genocide by ISIS jihadists. However, as welcome as this is, the president still views ISIS as a local Iraqi problem to be dealt with by instituting a more inclusive centralized government in Baghdad rather than seeing ISIS as part of a much larger global ideological threat. Obama's Distraction Plan to Make Us All Hopeless and Dependent on the Government

Saul Alinsky taught President Obama and his socialist cabal to distract the masses. It is therefore telling how Obama has made a big deal about the name of the Washington Redskins. That’s important because while Obama distracts us with the phony issue of a name he claims denigrates Native Americans, he puts in place policies that will replicate the tragic Native American experience. It appears Obama is trying to turn us all into “Redskins.” My new book, The Murder of the Middle Class exposes how Obama is destroying America and our greatest asset, the middle class, from within. It is not happening by accident, mistake, or coincidence. This is a purposeful plan - a carbon copy of what the federal government did to Native Americans. [more...]

Student Posts Photo of His Meager Michelle O. Lunch on Facebook

A Kentucky high school student is likely the first of many to post a photo of his puny Michelle Obama-inspired lunch on social media this school year. WBKO reports a Warren East High School 6'3" student snapped a picture of a tray featuring a container of milk, some fruit that appears to be processed and a bun that may or may not contain meat – or some government-approved variation of it. If only the detainees at Guantanamo Bay were treated this way. [more...]

Fix the U.S. Before Sticking Your Nose in Other People's Business

Why is the U.S. involved in Iraq again? Even though the situation is dire in Iraq, is it really our nation’s business? Before getting into other people's business, the U.S. needs to clean up its own financial house. This is one of the key elements to determining what a business is really worth, as seen in my book, Sell Your Business for More Than It’s Worth. No matter whether we are talking about the politics of business or the business of politics, the fact of anything’s worth is found in the numbers. The U.S.'s financial records show a staggering number of unsolved conflicts within our own nation’s government - too many to afford sticking our nose in another country’s problems. [more...]

Steve Malzberg is Available for Interviews on the latest from NewsmaxTV:

Page Six - Bacall the Terror

Bacall was known to be a terror - just ask Anderson Cooper. Former Congressman John LeBoutillier recalled sitting next to Bacall at a 1982 dinner that Cooper’s mom (and LeBoutillier’s cousin) Gloria Vanderbilt threw at her Southampton house for Claudette Colbert. "Gloria’s son Anderson was 14 at the time and he was at the table. The conversation turned to the Mideast and Anderson weighed in and said, 'Something has to be done to help the Palestinians. We need a Palestinian state,'" LeBoutillier recalled. "Bacall, a big supporter of Israel, went nuts. She eviscerates this kid in front of everyone, humiliates the hostess's son. Anderson was in tears." [more...]

The Isis Threat… and more…

On this week's POLITICAL INSIDERS, we explored the ISIS threat to "plant a flag at the White House," Hillary's attempt to separate herself from President Obama and the remarkable revelation that 71% of the American people blame the government for our problems. Watch our shows here: Sunday Part 1, Part 2, Part 3. [more...]

The Business of Selling Pot in America

Jacob Lavoro, the 19-year-old Austin, Texas man accused of making and selling brownies laced with marijuana saw an opportunity, there was a demand in the market, people were craving brownies sauteed in THC, and so he decided to take a risk. This is what entrepreneurship requires from all who are willing to put themselves out on the line for what they value. However, this kid takes the cake in what he was willing to risk - his life. If convicted, he could end up serving life in prison (he faces a felony charge that carries a punishment of anywhere from five years to life in prison). Lavoro may be perceived as an entrepreneur from one perspective; but he is a drug dealer in another’s. Some people are under the impression that marijuana was made illegal through some kind of scientific process, but all it takes is a little digging to get to the dirt beneath the grass. [more...]

It's Israel's Fault

This fight between Israel and Hamas is Israel’s fault and I’ll tell you why. The aggravation between these two groups has been going on for years, but this is the longest the fighting has persisted since the last extended conflict which lasted about 22 days. Israel has the intelligence and the manpower to eradicate Hamas. Some of you complaining about Israel’s treatment of the Palestinians are a little confused. You see, when the Palestinians were given more land and “the strip,” the Israelis left behind schools, clinics, gardens, greenhouses, and much for them to sustain themselves and have a better life. Palestinian militants were forbidden from receiving anything from the “Zionists,” so they destroyed most of the facilities Israel left behind. [more...]

Deducting Entertainment Expenses

Knowing when to discuss business and how to document it can make a HUGE difference as to whether you can deduct your golf game or costs for attending a sporting event such as a football game or even attending a play. To deduct fun activities such as tickets to a football game or golf costs, these are the overriding rules… [more...]

YouTube Stars More Popular than Hollywood Celebs

Hollywood can’t help but take notice of the power and creativity that is being displayed on YouTube. Tinseltown shows its fondness at times for the social media video Web site. In March of 2014, Disney acquired Maker Studios, a highly successful YouTube multichannel network, for $500 million. And in 2013, DreamWorks Animation purchased a YouTube channel, AwesomenessTV, for $33 million. Warner Bros. also bought a stake in a videogame oriented YouTube multichannel network, Machinima, for $18 million. Recent research now indicates that YouTube has been producing new stars that are actually more popular than traditional entertainment celebrities, who are typically sold to the public via Hollywood star-making machinery. The Passing of Robin Williams

Legendary actor and comedian Robin Williams was found dead Monday at his home in Tiburon, Calif., according to the Marin County Sheriff's Office. Police suspected "the death to be a suicide due to asphyxia, but a comprehensive investigation must be completed before a final determination is made."

Williams lived at the house with his wife and was last seen alive at the home around 10:00 p.m. the previous evening. He was found unconscious and not breathing after a 9-1-1 call shortly before noon. An autopsy was scheduled for Tuesday, the sheriff's office said.

The 63-year-old Williams was well known for a long career of film, television and stand-up comedy, including the 1978-82 sitcom "Mork and Mindy" and the films "Mrs. Doubtfire" (1993), "The World According to Garp" (1982), and "Good Will Hunting" (1997), for which he won a Best Supporting Actor Oscar.

His publicist said he was battling depression. It is tragic that someone with as many gifts and blessings as Williams would possibly have taken his life.

I had the rare privilege of meeting Williams and saw him perform in comedy clubs when he was breaking into the entertainment industry.  Farewell, "O Captain, My Captain!"

Rush Limbaugh Stamps EIB Seal of Approval on Root's "Murder of the Middle Class"

Rush Limbaugh wrote on his Web site last week: "Whenever I run into a couple of books or any book I'm reading that I want to pass on to you, I always share it with you.  Wayne Allyn Root, who went to school with Obama at Columbia, has just written a bunch of op-eds about that and about how he knows from his knowledge of Obama way back when, what an anti-capitalist Obama is. He's got a book out called The Murder of the Middle Class." [more...]

Wayne writes in a recent op-ed: "The bad news about jobs just keeps coming in waves. It’s all part of the murder of the middle class. The centerpiece of President Barack Obama’s economy is middle class jobs lost forever… and crummy, crappy part-time jobs (that cannot support a middle class quality of life) gained. My new book, The Murder of the Middle Class laments the loss of well-paying jobs that form the foundation of the famous American Dream. This is not happening by accident, mistake or coincidence. This is a purposeful plan to create equality. Unfortunately, Obama’s version of 'equality' translates to 'shared misery.' We’re all going to be equal, but living in poverty, misery and malaise." [more...]

The Truth Obama's Great Depression

Obama is famous for saying, “If you like your health insurance, you can keep it.” We all know how that worked out. Now Obama brags about his economic “recovery.” It’s as if he’s saying, “If you like your economy, you can keep it.” Well, Mr. Obama, let me say this. “There is nothing to like about this economy. And you can keep it.” We’re all being fed a pack of lies. Why we are NOT in a recovery. Does any of this sound like a recovery, or a healthy economy? To me it sounds more like economic ruin. It sounds like “the murder of the middle class.” That’s the title of my new book exposing how the middle class is the target of a purposeful attack by big government, big business, big unions and, of course, big media – all of them protected by covering up the facts. Spending a Fortune on that "Dream School"

I have NEVER met anyone, in my 30+ years of tax and financial coaching, who was happy with incurring substantial financial debt for his or her undergraduate school. In fact, most people who have incurred significant debt for undergraduate studies are really in trouble. There was a recent article in the Money section of Time Magazine about sixty-year-old people who are still not out of debt! The problem is that most schools don't meet the real financial need. If a student has $150,000 in total student debt, this would cost $1,819 a month for ten years to pay off! Even $100,000 in debt would take about $1,212 a month for 10 years to amortize. This monthly burden has to be compared to starting salaries for most kids, which is between $3,300 and $4,600 a month. [more...] See my latest book: Achieve Financial Freedom – Big Time!

Abortion Issue Does Not Equal Women's Health Issue

I have been saying, to the irritant of my friends on the Left, that abortion has nothing to do with the women’s health issue. One of the original questions the Supreme Court had to deal with in the seventies when they approved Roe v. Wade was: When does life begin? Well, all the academics and doctors that were willing to take some money and testify said life did not start until the third trimester. Remember, this was a time when cancer was almost always fatal, AIDS was a death sentence, and, in some cases, people still died from the flu. Medicine has come a long way since then. And now many agree, scientists and doctors alike, that life begins at conception or shortly thereafter. [more...]

Cops: Teacher Showed Up to School Drunk, Pantless

One teacher was reportedly caught with her pants down at the start of the school year – or actually they were missing altogether. 49-year-old Wagoner Public Schools teacher Lorie Ann Hill showed up to school "disoriented and without pants," according to Police Chief Bob Haley. "She was found in a room kind of disoriented," Haley said. "By the time we got there she was in a room and wearing shorts." She was found at the high school in an empty classroom, according to News Channel 4. She was booked in the Wagoner City Jail on a public intoxication complaint, the newspaper reports. She was "recently" hired by the district and classes start Thursday. [more...]

Stallone Schwarzenegger Film Leaks

"The Expendables 3," a film that movie studio Lionsgate had hoped would be a summer smash, has been hit with a pre-release leak, the occurrence of which resulted in millions of illegal downloads. The sequel features Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger from the previous installments, plus the addition of some new franchise faces that include Mel Gibson, Kelsey Grammer, Harrison Ford, Wesley Snipes and Antonio Banderas.

Lionsgate has filed a copyright infringement lawsuit against Web sites that are offering "The Expendables 3." The filing took place on the day Lionsgate released the official trailer for the movie, which is set to debut on August 15. According to the lawsuit, which was filed in U.S. district court in central California, the studio became aware of the theft of a digital copy of the film. [more...]
