China and Russia Relations Reach New Heights

With new Chinese President Xi Jinping’s recent visit to the Kremlin, China and Russia relations are dramatically improving. Should the West be concerned?

Meet Xi Jinping. On March 14, he became the official President of the People’s Republic of China. The son of a communist veteran, Jinping has ridden the elevator to the top of the political food chain in China within a handful of years.

Last week, Jinping chose the city of Moscow as the destination for his first foreign visit as China’s new leader. As he told a group of reporters gathered in Moscow, his selection of the Kremlin as his first official trip abroad is a “testimony to the great importance China places on its relations with Russia.”

Indeed, China and Russia, led by President Vladimir Putin, share a deeply strategic political and economic partnership. Their immediate goal is further economic integration and cooperation. Together, they compose a formidable foe against Washington’s often imperialistic foreign policy. Both nations have publicly disagreed with the West’s attempts to increase sanctions against Iran, Syria, and North Korea. The two countries have often stood together in defiance at the United Nations Security Council against measures they perceive to be part of a larger ‘Western agenda.’ [more...]

Thanks to President Obama, Turkey’s Islamist Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan extorted an undeserved apology from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in return for promising to restore normalized diplomatic relations with Israel and dropping trumped up charges against Israeli military personnel. After exacting his pound of flesh, Erdogan then began to backtrack on both of his own promises. [more...]

Time for Republicans to Go On the Offensive

During my recent trip to Washington, D.C. I was asked to speak to the Republican Whip Committee, a group of approximately 50 Republican U.S. House members charged with the responsibility of preparing and securing support for passage of "priority" legislation. I used this time to provide the Whip Committee with the background of my battle against the SEIU and the tactics the SEIU utilized against my company, employees, customers and family, and then drew the parallel to the tactics utilized by the current Administration and the Democratic Party to push forward their progressive agenda. I concluded by encouraging the Committee to adopt the tactics that led us to victory - to go on the offensive; to make the opponent defend its lies; and to expose the misinformation, propaganda, coercion, intimidation and diversion tactics utilized to achieve their goals. 'The Gatekeepers' - Voices from Israel Giving Warnings for the Future?

'The Gatekeepers,' a new documentary movie by Dror Moreh, provides haunting one-on-one interviews with each of the six surviving former heads of Shin Bet who nearly consecutively ran the secretive, counterterrorist Israeli security service from 1980 to 2011. While these former heads of the Shin Bet all agree that the fight against terrorism is a necessary and righteous one, their interviews in this film are disturbing yet honest musings. And they shed light on the morality and potential effectiveness regarding the way the war on terrorism was fought in their country; and they, by extension, share hard won wisdom that might be useful in thinking about how the U.S. war on terror is now being fought the world over. Teachers Using Social Media to Sexually Seduce Students

Omaha middle school teacher Shad Knutson found a new way to connect with his students, and he used it to live out his sexual fantasies. In one year’s time, Knutson, 34, exchanged 26,986 text messages and phone calls - an average of 70 per day - with one of his 14-year-old female students. He exchanged almost as many messages with other 13- to 15-year-old girls at Nathan Hale Middle School where he worked. He promised good grades if the girls flashed him or discipline if they didn’t. He exposed himself to at least one of the girls on school property, and attempted to lure them into sexual encounters. The young girls complained to school officials, who reacted by transferring one student, but failed to take the accusations seriously. [more...]

Critics Bristle at Patriotism in "Olympus Has Fallen"

The newly released “Olympus Has Fallen” is an action movie, which, like so many others that have come out of Hollywood in the past few years, is a mixed bag artistically. However, the film seems to have abnormally irritated a number of critics, not so much because of some of its inherent flaws, but rather because it includes a display of patriotism and additionally dares to contain a story line about a Western nation that is dealing with the real world challenges of terrorism.

Metropolitan movie critics have been known to sing the praises of less than stellar film fare and have routinely given a pass to explicitly violent R-rated cinema. Somehow, though, "Olympus Has Fallen" has managed to raise the ire of many of them, and the grousing on the street is about the love of country that is exhibited by several of the onscreen characters and what is frequently characterized as questionable interrogation techniques. The Steubenville Rape Case Happening Every Friday Night across America?

The recent Steubenville rape case brings up some very disturbing issues regarding the attitude of males in this culture seeing females as objects of sexual gratification and consumption that they can abuse and prey upon all because she drank too much and lost her ability to protect herself, fight back or even say no. In the Steubenville case, the girl who was raped is said to have become drunk at a party held by one of the assistant football coaches - a party which she left totally inebriated and vomiting. This alone begs questions of criminal culpability for an adult member of the community - a coach - who was reportedly serving alcohol to minors and failing to protect those who became drunk as a result. Department of Ed Creates New Six-figure Job While Wielding Sequester Ax

The Department of Education’s sequester cuts are taking a brutal toll on federally-funded schools on Native American reservations, but the federal agency still found money to create a new six-figure job promoting "Educational Excellence for African-Americans." "The selective austerity shown by the Department of Education and other federal agencies shows the Obama administration is trying to emphasize the budget cuts' effect on the public," said Kyle Olson, founder of the Michigan-based education watchdog Education Action Group. "It seems like there's no rhyme or reason for the cuts that they're making," Olson said. "They are trying to maximize the public effect - the pain - in order to make their point. But the fact of the matter is, the sequester is not a cut; it is a reduction in the rate of growth. The choices they're making are absurd." [more...]

The Next Step - Tracking What's in Your Packages

The next step in the invasion of American citizens' lives is happening. FedEx and UPS are now being told that they must police the contents of sealed packages that they ship. Specifically, at this point, the government wants these companies to make sure no illegal prescriptions are being shipped. WND reported that FedEx spokesman Patrick Fitzgerald said: “What is unusual and really disturbing is it became clear to us along the way that FedEx was being targeted for some level of criminal activity as it relates to these medicines that are being shipped from pharmacies and we find it to be completely absurd because it’s really not our role. We have no way of knowing what is legal and not within the packages that we’re picking up and delivering in this situation." [more... ]

The New York Times published a front page story on Saturday, March 16th lauding Benjamin J. Rhodes, President Obama's "35-year old deputy national security adviser with a soft voice, strong opinions and a reputation around the White House as the man who channels Mr. Obama on foreign policy." Rhodes successfully led the charge to persuade Obama to throw Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak under the bus and to intervene militarily in Libya to help topple Muammar el-Qadaffi. Now Rhodes is shaping President Obama's public charm offensive that will be on display during his visit to Israel, the West Bank and Jordan this week. [more...]

Privacy Concerns over Google Glass Hit the Web

A major buzz has been building in the mainstream and social media over a technological device that is being developed by search giant Google called Google Glass, which is a wearable computer, with a head-mounted display in the form of eyeglasses. The Google Glass eyeglasses will reportedly display information to a wearer in a smartphone-like format and will allow a user to interact with the Internet via voice commands. However, as has been seen with other types of data collection, tracking technology, and proposed devices that interface with the human body, the capabilities of such computing instruments raise some serious issues involving personal privacy, Google Glass being no exception. One Man's Fight against Union Power

Entrepreneurs in the Silicon Valley should pay close attention to the experiences of Dave Bego, the Indiana businessman who started a company from scratch. By 2006, after years of unrelenting toil and sacrifice by Bego and his family, Executive Management Services, Inc. (EMS) had expanded into 38 states and had 5,000 employees. Bego now had something so valuable it became an attractive target for unionization. The Jodi Arias Trial & PTSD

The Jodi Arias murder case in which she claims prior abuse and failure to remember crucial aspects of her crime have brought the issues of posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and dissociation - concepts that are confusing to many - into national attention leaving many bewildered about how traumas, dissociation and crime may all be linked together. Oftentimes PTSD is thought of as a disorder in which one cannot forget a trauma. And in many cases of PTSD, the trauma - having been burned deeply into memory - is constantly relived in intensely detailed and disturbing traumatic flashbacks. This is the most common manifestation of PTSD and what we have become accustomed to seeing portrayed in movies of trauma victims such as veterans suffering flashbacks of combat. There is, however, also another side to PTSD and that is when a dissociative amnesia occurs in response to a trauma that is too horrible to make its way into the normal conscious narrative. Now the CIA Wants Unlimited Access to Your Financial Records

Apparently, the Federal government is intent on continuing its never-ending war on your right to privacy. According to a new plan unveiled by the U.S. Treasury Department, the Obama administration is now seeking authorization to provide all U.S. spy agencies with unlimited access to a massive database containing financial data on virtually every American citizen who uses the banking system.

Access to this sensitive financial data has been available to the FBI since the tragic events of 9/11 (thanks to the “freedom-loving” President George W. Bush.) Now, the Obama administration wants to provide access to this vast database with even more U.S. intelligence agencies, including the CIA and the National Security Agency. What reason has been given for the new invasive powers by the CIA and the NSA? Terrorism, of course. [more...]
