Mamdani Would be a Disaster for Higher Education
By Adam Kissel, Author of Slacking: A Guide to Ivy League Miseducation
Presumptive Democratic nominee for mayor
of New York City Zohran Mamdani would be a disaster for higher education
in New York, with his policy of redistributing wealth for "equity"
instead of rewarding merit. Making college "free" on the backs of
taxpaying workers distorts the market, wastes resources, and entices many
people into college whose lives would be better if they pursued a trade
instead. My new book, Slacking: A
Guide to Ivy League Miseducation, proves that Ivy League
universities can no longer be trusted to produce well-educated students as it
is; and we know the Trump administration
has already begun targeting certain Ivy League universities with threats or
actual suspensions of federal funding. These actions are often tied
to failures to address antisemitism on campus, particularly in the context of
anti-Israel protests. There is a link between antisemitism, socialism, and a
social-activist curriculum. With the breaking news that Mamdani is the likely
nominee, we are quickly learning the extent to which his socialism would be a
disaster for New York.
Trump and Netanyahu: - Build Up and Countdown to Attack
By Todd Sheets, Author of 2008: What Really Happened
Recent commentary has been dominated by two enormous questions:
What has the working relationship between Donald Trump and Benjamin Netanyahu
been like as events led to Israel's attack on Iran... and: Where do we go from
here? The second question was answered in dramatic fashion when B-2 stealth
bombers dropped bunker-busting bombs on three of Iran's nuclear development
facilities. Understanding the events leading up to this historic development
reveals how we came to this point. In addition, reviewing this history sheds
light on other important matters such as the campus protests that continue to
cause so much controversy and the most relevant historical parallel for the
current conflict. [more...]
Illegal Immigrant Crime Rates Higher Than Cato Institute Wants
You to Believe
By John Lott, Worldwide Expert on Guns & Crime
The claim that illegal aliens commit crimes at lower rates than
native-born Americans may look convincing, but it doesn't hold up under
scrutiny. Cato has long pushed an open-borders
agenda, an approach that even free market economist Milton Friedman warned
would fail in a country with a large welfare system. Cato's continued selective
use of flawed data only reinforces how unreliable its claims are. Its
reports, widely covered by news media, continue to help shape public opinion,
including its latest release, "illegal Immigrant Incarceration Rates,
2010-2023." The report claims illegal aliens commit crimes at half the
rate of native-born Americans and that legal immigrants commit crimes at just a
quarter of the rate. However, just like Cato's previous efforts, this
report falls short of credible analysis. [more...]
