Hollywood Gives Money to Obama 16:1 over Romney

Hollywood celebrities are not only assisting with ads and appearances like actress Eva Longoria and rocker Bruce Springsteen do, but reaching into their wallets and donating to the Obama campaign in overwhelming numbers when compared to Romney campaign donations.

The sheer number of Hollywood donors has become large enough that The Center for Responsive Politics (CRP) now includes “celebrity” lists where the famous who give to a respective campaign are set forth. Entertainers, athletes, authors and others are included on this political “A-list” based on paperwork that is filed with the Federal Election Commission.

“It’s [the celebrity list] new for us,” CRP spokesperson Russ Choma told Reuters. “We started it a couple of weeks ago, mostly out of demand, but also because there are so many people on it.” [more...]

Will High Gas Prices "Fuel" a Romney Victory?

The average price of a gallon of unleaded gasoline the day President Barack Obama was inaugurated into office in January 2009 was $1.84. Since May, I have been trumpeting this fact at gas price rollback events all over the country with a giant red gas can known as “Gas Can Man” as the centerpiece of over 25 events in battleground states from Florida to Nevada, from Colorado to Virginia... and, of course, Ohio.

In recent weeks, the “Pain in the Gas” tour has begun to attract national attention as others have started using the $1.84 price as a call for action. Now the Obama team is dealing with an increasingly difficult policy issue in the waning weeks of the campaign.

Compounding Obama’s claim that he is for expanded drilling and exploration is the fact that his own Interior Secretary Ken Salazar recently banned oil drilling in HALF the 23 million acre territory set aside in the National Petroleum Reserve in Alaska where drilling is supposed to occur.

As Gas Can Man continues to “drive” the issue of high gas prices in battleground states across the country, I can talk about the direct connection between energy and votes... particularly as our dependence on Middle East oil becomes an increasingly volatile national security issue as well. An Election about the Economy Will Really Be About Entrepreneurs

For the first time in our history entrepreneurs are becoming part of the political furniture. Speakers at both the Republican and Democratic conventions mentioned small businesses, firms with fewer than 500 employees, endlessly - actually 106 times.

Small business is an expected mainstay of convention rhetoric. But, the debut of entrepreneurs as the people who form our new firms is critical because they were, accurately, described as the people who take risks and create, according to the Kauffman Foundation, over sixty percent of all new jobs in our economy.

Starting more new firms is not only the best path to resolving the recession; they are the principal source of wealth for America's future. In fact, Republican speakers described the role they play in the economy 13 times while Democrats did 9 times. Joseph Schumpeter would be smiling that the little guys, the entrepreneurs, the people who challenge the incumbent firms with their upstart startups, the causers of all the "creative destruction" that drive government regulators crazy, the new companies that seem to relish what he called the "gales" of competition that big companies fear, are somehow beginning to be seen as the champions they are. Karen Mills, head of the Small Business Administration, said "America's entrepreneurs are our greatest asset" during her speech to the Democratic convention. [more...]

The White House is living up to their false claim of transparency and the Benghazi 9/11 attack is their latest cover-up. The American people need to demand the truth and recognize that this is an example of how untrustworthy President Obama really is. Over and over again the administration tried to tie the attack to a video that was claimed to have insulted Muslims. The shameless arrogance of this White House to not only keep the truth from the American people, but to try to falsely blame someone else for the disaster is unconscionable. Why the Demise of Al-Qaeda is Wishful Thinking

Since the 9/11 attack, Al-Qaeda - the terrorist organization behind the attack - has been under the global radar. Military retaliation operations were launched against them by U.S. troops and their allies. Progress to eliminate the group was on target, proven by the assassination of two of their most prominent and influential leaders: Bin Laden in Pakistan, followed by Al-Awlaqi, the leader of AQAP in Yemen. The call for celebration was on the rise since Al-Qaeda was seemingly on the demise. After all, how can they survive after the fall of their leaders and other operatives by the precision and might of the SEAL teams and the DRONE attacks? Say what you will, but President Obama’s foreign policy has done no good for America. Something is terribly wrong when those who support the president’s reelection bid include world leaders whose greatest desire is to, at the least, see America diminished in world influence and, worse, would like to see the America of history as the world’s greatest beacon of freedom destroyed. Yet that’s what has happened in the almost four years of Obama’s presidency. Russia’s Putin, Cuba’s Castro, and Venezuela’s Chavez have endorsed Obama’s reelection. Even China has made it clear they can work better with Obama (translated, that means that they can get more of what they want, which will not be good for America). As American citizens and voters, we must ask ourselves why we would vote for a second term for a man who has gotten America’s enemies to endorse his reelection. [more...]

Hollywood handlers have always innately understood what researchers have fairly recently discovered and that is that non-verbal cues generally trump verbal communication. A presidential debate provides a textbook illustration of this principle. Discussions following the first 2012 presidential debate tended to center on the subject of President Obama’s body language. October Surprise: Direct Talks with Iran?

On the eve of the third and final presidential debate, which deals with foreign policy, the New York Times ran a lead story, citing unnamed Obama administration officials, that the United States and Iran have agreed in principle for the first time to one-on-one negotiations over Iran’s nuclear program. Iran reportedly has insisted that its direct talks with Washington should not begin until after the U.S. presidential election on November 6 and wants to broaden the scope of the discussions beyond just the nuclear enrichment issues. Last Wednesday's Gallup poll numbers sent the media into a frenzy as Governor Mitt Romney scooted ahead 51% to 45% over President Obama among likely voters - astonishingly, after he trailed by 8 points in September. Even, a Pew poll conducted in the same timeframe showed Romney leading Obama by 4 points among registered voters. So which poll bears the truth? It's hard to know, as polls are a function of anticipated voter turnout on the day of the election. With the slightest manipulation to the sample, these polls can sway to a contrived outcome. The Benghazi Dilemma: Why the Radical Islamists are Still Winning

Since the attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, there have been many conflicting reports about the circumstances surrounding this troubling incident. This reveals a very sad reality: either the U.S. intelligence community is in a state of chaos, or the State Department and the Administration are not communicating well with one another. Either way, this is very troubling. It tells the radicals that the U.S. is not prepared to defend its foreign establishments - a welcome invitation to the terrorists to launch more deadly attacks. It also sends an indirect message to the radical Islamists that the U.S. is not willing to denounce them or their ideology; rather, a cover-up is being constructed to avoid taking such direction. This can only mean one thing to the radicals: they are winning BIG. Such a reality can fuel their desires even more to launch other attacks, knowing there are no immediate consequences. [more...]

Obama was much better this time around - confident and aggressive - but not like Biden. Romney was steady but his face often looked strained. Romney blew it on the Rose Garden Libya misstatement and Obama used the 47% very well at the end. Overall, Romney did well. What Really Happened at the Debate?

Most reporting about the presidential debate tells little of what really happened. Conclusions are essentially split along party lines with the left (the Democrats and the mainstream media) trying very hard to find a win for President Obama, in spite of a lackluster performance. Sure, he did better than in the last debate, but it was nothing to get excited about. It was a typical Obama performance of rhetoric, lies, and avoiding his own record while attacking Romney using Alinsky tactics to try to weaken Romney’s credibility in the eyes of voters. So, I’d be careful trusting much of what is being reported in the media. Instead, let’s look at some facts about the debate that should help voters understand what really happened. Arming Our Enemies

The Obama administration has a habit of helping our enemies obtain weapons, with lethal consequences. The Fast & Furious operation resulted in guns going to Mexican drug lords. The Libyan “lead from behind” operation allowed weapons to get loose and ultimately into the hands of Islamist jihadists. Most debates are a disaster with the bias of the moderators controlling how they will be handled. Two weeks ago we saw a refreshing scene when Jim Lehrer actually stayed out of doing much influencing and simply trying to facilitate a discussion between the candidates so that America could see where both men stood on the issues. It was probably the most effective presidential debate we've seen in many election campaign cycles. Candy Crowley, the moderator for today's debate, has made it clear in interviews that she sees her role as one that expands the audience questions and directs the discussion at her own whim. While the campaigns have expressed concern over this, the Commission on Presidential Debates has said they would discuss those concerns with Crowley, something they have not confirmed they've done. The European Union's Undeserved Peace Prize

The Norwegian Nobel Committee decided to award the Nobel Peace Prize for 2012 to the European Union (EU). Although conceding in its press release that “the EU is currently undergoing grave economic difficulties and considerable social unrest,” the Norwegian Nobel Committee rationalized its choice by claiming that it "wishes to focus on what it sees as the EU’s most important result: the successful struggle for peace and reconciliation and for democracy and human rights." The EU selection follows the path of another brainless choice for the Nobel Peace Prize - Barack Obama in 2009 - when he had not done a thing except give lofty speeches and apologia for the United States’ role in the world. Slate of Celebrities Switch from Obama to Romney

Adding to the fresh energy that the campaign of GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney has reaped from the first 2012 presidential debate, an unlikely group of celebrities have publicly embraced the idea of a potential President Romney inauguration. Piers Morgan, the consistently left-of-center CNN host wrote a column published by the UK Daily Mail in which he begrudgingly conceded that “Mitt Romney might just save America.” Morgan took great pains to make the case that the former Massachusetts governor changed political positions, writing that “it’s hard to even recognize the new Mitt from the one who was a successful and popular Governor of Massachusetts.” [more...]

Joe Biden is a man that few employers would hire. The reason was on display last Tuesday night as his response to any of Paul Ryan’s comments was blatant disrespect. Like Andy Stern and the SEIU’s persuasion of power, Biden’s tactics against Ryan were typical attempts to bully the target until it is totally discredited in the public’s eye and succumbs. This is what Romney can expect to face down the stretch of the 2012 Presidential campaign. Did Biden Win the Battle But Lose the War?

The VP heavyweight championship fight is over. Biden needed a decisive knockout to prop up Obama’s failing campaign. He didn’t get it. Paul Ryan didn’t need a decisive win; he only needed to hold his own and come across as smart and sincere. Mission accomplished. However, something happened during this debate that was decisive. It was style over substance. On style, I think something monumental happened: Biden was not likeable. He tried for the knockout so hard; he tried to show the aggressiveness that Obama did not with such desperation that he came across as mean-spirited, angry, condescending, arrogant, and disrespectful in contrast to a polite, cool, youthful Ryan with fresh ideas. Did Biden win the debate? Arguable. Was he the aggressor? Yes. Did he staunch Obama’s bleeding? Yes. But even if Biden won the battle, he lost the war.

Biden and Obama Debate Performances Prove They Have No Substance

Last night's VP debate was Joe Biden’s chance to turn things around for the Obama/Biden campaign after Obama’s pitiful performance last week at the debate in Denver. Rather than accomplishing that task, Biden proved that he and Obama have no substance to their arguments. Biden's disrespectful and condescending attitude and his smirking and laughing antics aside, some will say that Biden won; some will say Ryan won. I’d say the American people can make a choice from the debate if they use it to realize that the Romney/Ryan campaign gave substantive answers while the Obama/Biden campaign only gave us more rhetoric. Romney's Foreign Policy Vision

In his speech at VMI, Presidential candidate Romney laid out a plan to reform the current U.S. foreign policy and its handling of terrorism in the Middle East. Mr. Romney pointed out that the attack in Benghazi which resulted in the killing of U.S. Ambassador Stevens was the work of the same group responsible for the 9/11 attack, something that was very evident to the world, and radical Islamists did not even hide. Mr. Romney’s proposal to reform the U.S. foreign policies by exhibiting confidence in the U.S. cause, clarity in its purpose, and resolution in its mind towards these serious regional issues that have carried a negative impact on national security in recent years, is without a doubt the only way radical Islamists can be stopped and reduced, and for them to look up to the U.S. once again as the power it once was. Unless such reformation takes place SOON, the world will continue to experience a major shift in global powers where radical Islamists are at the center of it all. [more...]
