Was President Barack Obama Blackmailed by Russia?

While taking part in a nuclear summit in South Korea in March 2012, a hot microphone picked up the voice of a deeply worried Barack Obama. The President leaned over, placed his hand on Russian President Dimitri Medvedev’s right forearm, and held tight. Obama whispered, “This is my last election. After my election, I have more flexibility.”

Medvedev placed his hand on top of Obama’s and assured him, “I understand. I will transmit this information to Vladimir. I stand with you.” This chilling exchange was not a scene from a Cold War inspired spy movie where an American President is being blackmailed by evil Russkies. It was real. President Obama was promising Russian policy would become American policy in exchange for “space,” he needed just a little more time. In response, “good cop” Medvedev indicated he would put in the good word with “bad cop” Vladimir, “I stand with you.”

Obama 'Looked into Trump Tower,' But is Being 'Protected'

David Horowitz, author of the bestselling book Big Agenda: President Trump's Plan to Save America, says he believes former President Barack Obama did snoop on President Donald Trump at Trump Tower during the 2016 presidential race, but is "protected" from being caught. Bureaucrats and diplomats at the United Nations are scrambling to adjust to the new Trump administration. One thing seems certain. The Obama days of wine and roses for the UN are over. The Trump administration is reportedly laying the groundwork for cuts of at least 50% to U.S. funding for United Nations programs. U.S. diplomats warned key UN member states to “expect a big financial restraint” on American spending at the UN at a meeting earlier this month in New York City, according to sources cited by Foreign Policy. [more...]

Repealing Obamacare - Cutting Through the Confusion

The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) has scored the current Republican bill before Congress known as the American Health Care Act (AHCA) adversely. They claim 14 million Americans will lose healthcare under the AHCA; that it will reduce the deficit by$337 billion over the next 10 years. But, the CBO is not scoring the complete repeal and replace series of bills (3 phases – this is just phase 1). Secretary Price states there are fewer Americans on the exchanges now (8 million) than the claimed 14 million that the CBO thinks will lose healthcare insurance. It appears that the CBO thinks current Medicaid recipients will leave the system, too. However, they have an inadequate track record on Obamacare scoring. Some people think that the CBO is simply another Washington establishment organization that promotes progressive policies. Newt Gingrich suggests Congress use 5 outside professional firms to obtain better estimates of costs and benefits and skip the CBO. [more...]

President Trump’s Justice Dept. Begins to Drain the Swamp

The Trump administration, via its attorney general, recently asked for the resignation of all remaining Obama-appointed U.S. attorneys, which is, in fact, a change of personnel in which new administrations routinely engage. However, the media reporting by the mainstream press and broadcast media has been anything but routine; rather, the coverage has been somewhat hysterical in nature. In light of the recent revelations that the Obama Justice Department used FISA warrants to intercept digital communications of the Trump campaign, the legal personnel change was an extremely necessary and prudent one. Relief from Obamacare Finally on the Way?

House Republicans have finally released their legislative blueprint for repealing and replacing Obamacare. President Trump has indicated his support of the proposed legislation, while leaving the door open for negotiations. Key changes involving repeal of Obamacare’s Medicaid expansion and the Obamacare subsidies will not take full effect until 2020. However, the proposed replacement for Obamacare provides a path to real reform, while at the same time not throwing out the baby with the bath water. The proposed legislation would preserve the prohibition on denying coverage to people with pre-existing conditions or charging them more for such coverage, and it would preserve the prohibition on capping lifetime coverage. It would also continue allowing young adults up to the age of 26 to remain covered under their parents’ health plans. However, the new ‘American Health Care Act’ would eliminate some of the most unpopular features of Obamacare. [more...]

Berkeley Rally Update

At the pro-Trump rally last Saturday, I watched as an old man holding a Trump sign was pepper-sprayed mercilessly. As he convulsed in pain on the ground, groups of radical leftist protesters cheered and laughed at him. The few supporters who rushed to him to provide medical attention were subsequently beaten with sticks. There was no shortage of bloodied, beaten faces and broken noses that day. And every attempt at self defense was met with more violence. It was truly a gruesome scene. And while all of this was happening, police in full riot gear stood just outside of the park, stoically watching as people were being attacked. As people ran to them pleading for them to get involved, they stood with no sense of urgency, as if they were completely oblivious to the brutality right in front of their visor shielded eyes. They never attempted to break apart the violent confrontations, even when they were at their very worst. There’s no excuse for them having watched on the sidelines as peaceful rally attendees were brutalized by large groups of people in plain daylight. A strong, healthy stock market is the most important factor for any company looking to have a successful Initial Public Offering. For Snap, Inc., the parent company of the Snapchat app, this was exactly the case. Besides the fact that the post-recession bull market just turned 8 years old, the U.S. stock market is reaching all-time highs week after week. Investors are filled with optimism and are pouring money into the market. In its first day of public trading, Snap closed up 44% from its initial price of $17. The pop can be attributed to several factors; but, in general, Snapchat’s popularity among the younger generation (ages 18-35), who spend an average of 20-30 minutes a day on the photo-sharing app, has induced their financial investment as well. Recent actions and rhetoric of Democratic Party operatives and mainstream media figures are evoking the same undesirable label.

From newspaper opinion pieces to social media posts, the ghost of Sen. Joseph McCarthy roams the Washington, D.C. corridors and McCarthyism permeates the Democratic playbook, punctuated with the leadership’s incessant murmurings of "the Russians hacked the election."

As fallout of his investigation in the 1950s into Russian connections in the U.S., McCarthy was accused of conducting a "witch hunt" and was also indelibly linked to the Hollywood blacklist era.

Interestingly, after decades of vilification, the Wisconsin senator and World War II veteran was in great part vindicated by the Venona papers, which revealed that spies working for the old Soviet Union had indeed infiltrated key positions in government and other U.S. institutions.

Democratic operatives and media hacks have been engaging in an attempted cover-up in which they have focused on the fake "the Russians hacked the election" narrative in an apparent effort to distract from the tainted primary that delivered the Democratic nomination to an unusually flawed candidate, Hillary Clinton.

As Michael McGough wrote in the Los Angeles Times, "This [the Russia story] is the Holy Grail — or smoking gun, to switch clichés — of some Democrats’ imaginings." [more...]

Last week the state governors met with members of congress to discuss the fate of Obamacare. They were informed that the elimination of Obamacare would lead to disaster. States that participated in expanded Medicaid would lose billions in funding. Individuals who are receiving subsidies in the health insurance marketplace would wind up uninsured. Chaos would be the guaranteed result. In other words, the Republican controlled congress putting its collective head together is unable to come up with anything better than Obamacare. And what about our tax system? It’s a joke and has been for the at least the past 50 years. Sure, the media is dangerous, but they’re nothing compared to the U.S. Congress. As Justice Learned Hand once said, “The power to tax is the power to destroy.” Boy, if he had only known. [more...]

There are few American businessmen more influential than Warren Buffett. He has an investing track record which speaks for itself and Yoda-like reverence within the American economy. His advice, therefore, is beneficial to all investors and business people.

Buffett recently released his annual letter to shareholders of Berkshire Hathaway, the multinational conglomerate Buffett founded and spearheads. In it, he speaks to corporate executives, individual investors, and anyone looking for a key into the often unpredictable economy. The influence Buffett possess is unmistakable. His words echo both in corridors of New York skyscrapers and on railroad tracks in Omaha. And while his reputation precedes itself, it is Buffett’s wisdom year after year which many American business people listen to and act on. Vetoes Sink Latest UN Security Council Resolution on Syrian Chemical Weapons

The Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons-UN Joint Investigative Mechanism (JIM), which was established in August 2015 under a unanimously approved Security Council resolution, was assigned the responsibility to determine who was responsible for a series of chemical attacks since 2013 that killed Syrian civilians. The independent expert panel concluded that there was sufficient evidence to determine that the Syrian government had used chemical weapons on three separate occasions from 2014 to 2015, while ISIS had used them at least once. With that conclusion in hand, the United States, United Kingdom and France introduced a draft resolution on February 28th imposing sanctions under Chapter VII of the UN Charter on Syrian government officials and entities linked to the chemical weapons attacks; placing an embargo on arms sales and chemicals intended to be used as weapons; and establishing a sanctions committee and panel of experts to monitor the implementation of these measures. Russia and China vetoed the draft resolution, which blocked its adoption. Bolivia also voted no. Nine Security Council members voted yes, and three abstained. [more...]

Fake Trade News - WTO Cases vs. Trade Wars

Fake trade news abounds. Periodically politicians, reporters or pundits who should know better warn of a "trade war," which, they fret, will happen if the U.S. defends its economic interests by taking action. That action could possibly be found unlawful by a World Trade Organization (WTO) set of unelected lawyers sitting as judges. Their hysteria is always in support of their argument to "do nothing, it'll all be fine." The most recent example of this version of fake trade news is the media/punditry class's false assertion that tax reform with border adjustability will violate the WTO and thus start a "trade war.” The House GOP tax plan could violate the WTO agreement due to its strange version of border adjustability, but it will not start a trade war. Anyone who asserts otherwise should be dismissed as uninformed or a special interest hack. [more...]
