Based on what I’ve seen of the current protests, most are actually riots. Every one of these protests turns into a riot because most of these people missed their anger management class and decided if they don’t get what they want, that gives them the right to be violent. Guess what? Both times Barack Obama was elected, it didn’t work for me either. NONE of us took to the streets to protest the election. There were some protests for recounts based on perceived voter fraud, but that was an actual protest. People weren’t beaten because of who they voted for. Police cars weren’t vandalized and CVS pharmacies weren’t burn down. It was simply a sign-carrying, bullhorn-screaming protest. [more...]

Wearing suit and tie and a white “Make America Great Again” baseball cap, the co-chair of Republicans Overseas Israel donned phylacteries, danced with ultra-Orthodox worshipers and recited verses of thanksgiving from Psalms. Trump’s 1987 book, “The Art of the Deal,” instructs business people on negotiation methods. His writings shed light on the approach that he is currently using in the final days of his presidential run. “Deals are my art form,” Trump writes in the opening line of the book. A major focus in the book is the “win-win” deal, and Trump explains that “deals work best when each side gets something it wants from the other.” What Trump is now demonstrating is a closing argument in the form of a handshake with the American people. The Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) trade agreement is likely to receive a lame duck ratification vote, because the TPP is President Obama’s legacy legislation. He will likely pull out all the stops in order to get it passed in 2016. Many elected officials will tell you that they are against the TPP, or that there will not be a ratification vote during a lame duck session of Congress, but these also happen to be people who are trying to win elections next week - for themselves, and for their allies. They know that American voters are opposed to the TPP, and they are therefore motivated to get voters to relax about the threat of a lame duck vote. Coming off a week when AT&T announced one of the biggest deals of the year to acquire Time Warner, more M&A activity headlined the news Monday morning. General Electric Co., the world’s largest oilfield equipment maker, announced it will merge its oil and gas business with Baker Hughes Inc., one of the world leaders in oil services and production. The merger will create the world’s second largest oilfield services provider behind Schlumberger and ahead of Halliburton. GE will end up owning 62.5% of the combined company and paying Baker Hughes shareholders a hefty one-time dividend as part of the deal.
