Letter to Pope Francis - World Needs Freedom to End Poverty

Your Holiness, Pope Francis: Welcome to America! I share your deeply-held concern for the poor of the world.  My concern for global poverty and destitution was so great that I left a good job in the world of high tech and decided to write books.  I also started Lameiro Economics LLC, a company focused on bringing practical economic knowledge about freedom, economic growth, and prosperity to America and to the world.  It has also fueled in part my interest in presidential campaigns and the presidency. To begin with, I want to say we both want to help all people, especially those who can't help themselves or who were born into adverse situations.  I think we both agree that we have a moral obligation to help the poor and destitute.  [Go here for a complete analysis...]

Fiorina - A Worthy Opponent

After the last debate, Donald Trump finally met a worthy opponent - Carly Fiorina. In August’s debate, Fiorina didn’t make the top 10; she was sent to the kids' table for the much less viewed undercard debate. Fiorina made such an impact, however, that CNN amended its policy to allow her, the 11th candidate, to participate in the primetime GOP debate. Going into the debate, Fiorina was an outsider to Washington and a stranger to many Americans; however, over the course of the three-hour evening, Fiorina stood up against her competition and precisely laid out her policies and views. According to a Morning Consult poll conducted following Wednesday’s debate, 29% of voters felt Fiorina won with 24% saying Trump won. Polls taken by Gravis Marketing and other organizations published similar numbers. Moreover, 78% of voters now have a more favorable view of Fiorina according to Gravis. These polls are leading many, including myself, to believe Carly will soon eclipse Ben Carson runner-up to Trump. [more...]

GOP Establishment's Third Party Trial Balloon

The Republican establishment appears to be having an extremely difficult time trying to figure out how to best deal with GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump. His business success, coupled with his fourteen seasons on a hit television show that honed his brand as a solid decision maker, is part of the uniqueness that Trump has been bringing to the political world. Despite numerous attempts from various sources to thwart his campaign, Trump holds the top spot in a majority of the polls. This is throwing the elite political class, which includes high-powered politicians, major GOP donors, and a plethora of media figures, into a panic. Ironically, the business mogul himself is essentially a renegade of the donor class. Politico interviewed a dozen Wall Street executives and found that some were actually astounded by Trump's standing. "I don’t know anyone who is a Donald Trump supporter. I don't know anyone who knows anyone who is a Donald Trump supporter. They are like this huge mystery group," a CEO said. [more...]

The Shutdown Can Be Our Fault

If by "fault," the liberals are saying it's the Republicans' "failure" that the government will be shutdown... I say we should own it! We should own the fact that we are willing to look at videos of babies who are still moving, yet being dissected by a group who says they don't do such things. We should own the fact that we are willing to look at those videos showing babies born at nearly full term after a botched abortion and then being killed in such a fashion as to be able to sell the body parts to "research labs." We should own the fact that we are willing to stick up for the unborn. We should own the fact that we are willing to risk losing our precious legislative seats to stick up for those who can't defend themselves. [more...]

The Pope Forgets the Oppressed of Cuba

The pontiff's visit gave the Castros what they wanted. In 1960, Cuban bishops declared that "Catholicism and Communism respond to two totally different concepts of man and the world which it will never be possible to conciliate." Pope Francis, however, contends that Communism is really Christianity. "The Communists have stolen our flag," he said. The Cuban bishops condemned Communism as "a system which brutally denies the most fundamental rights of the human being." Pope Francis's criticisms of the Castro regime were limited to oblique references, a plea for religious freedom for Catholics and general criticisms that could apply to Cuba or any one of a number of other places. He failed to even reiterate his old criticisms of the regime. [more...]

Are the GOP Outsiders - Trump, Carson and Fiorina - Still Ahead After the Second GOP Debate?

How does the Republican race now stand after the second debate? Are the outsiders still ahead? What will the establishment insiders do to stop Trump, Carson, Fiorina and Cruz? This – and much more – will be discussed by the POLITICAL INSIDERS – live on Fox News Channel this Sunday evening – at 7:30 PM ET. [more...]
