Feminist Women and their Toxic Love Affair with Islam

In a recent incident, New York Governor Kathy Hochul donned a hijab when visiting an Islamic Center in New York to speak to Muslim constituents. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D) did the same about three months back. Their actions indicate a deference to Islam that seems decidedly out of step with their aggressive claims about gender equality (and indeed about female supremacism).

Feminist women in the West exhibit a toxic love affair with Islam that demonstrates how their rhetoric about women's empowerment is ultimately hollow. Nowhere is this more evident than in their eagerness to wear the hijab in the company of Muslim men. 

Devout Muslims believe that a woman should cover her hair as a form of modesty, on the assumption that a woman's hair is sexually arousing to men and therefore should not be displayed in public.

Why would sexually liberated western women be in favor of the hijab? These are the "My body, my choice" proponents, the ones who scold western men for allegedly attempting to "police" what women wear. They are the same feminist women who march in so-called "Slut Walks" to celebrate women's right to dress as skimpily and revealingly as they wish without censure or assault.

Meanwhile, in Islamic countries such as the Islamic Republic of Iran, women are arrested, beaten, raped, and killed for refusing to wear the hijab, or for wearing it improperly. Why would any western feminist support that for a moment? Yet they do.

But their actions make sense when we understand that western feminism, long influenced by Marxist and other anti-Western and anti-colonial ideologies, prefers Islam to Christianity. Feminists deliberately align themselves with the values of a people who excoriate America and wish to destroy it because feminists believe that America is the worst, most oppressive country in the world, a white supremacist colonizer nation that deserves to be brought low.
